The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 197 Division of Property

The sky was getting dark, and the lights in the courtyard of Emerald Lake Manor were pretty dim.

A small, warm yellow light barely lit up Emily's face.

She had her hair tied up in a simple bun and was wearing a brown-black coat, standing alone in the courtyard, looking down and typing away on her phone.

A message popped up: [My flight is tomorrow night, I'll be back soon, Emily, wait for me!]

Abigail even sent a smiley face emoji.

Emily gave a bitter smile, put her phone away, and got ready to grab the suitcase next to her and leave Emerald Lake Manor.

Suddenly, the roar of a car engine broke the silence. Emily paused, slowly lifted her head, and looked ahead with calm, beautiful eyes, showing no emotion.

Michael was back. He had driven the car right up to the gate of the courtyard, blocking Emily's way.

He must have just come back from the Brown Villa, right? Sophia didn't keep him for dinner at the Brown Villa? That was rare.

But maybe he wasn't in the mood to eat either. After all, with Sophia's sudden pregnancy, this news would eventually reach Mason's ears, and Michael had to figure out a way to explain it to his grandfather. Thinking of this, Emily suddenly gripped the suitcase tightly.

Emily was waiting for Michael to speak. But what she didn't expect was that after they stared at each other for a long time, Michael actually said, "Emily, stop acting. Aren't you tired?"

Emily felt like her heart wasn't breaking anymore. Instead, it was a dull pain, like a rough rope twisting around her heart, tightly entangled, suffocating and dull.

She had no strength to argue with Michael, nor did she want to. She just wanted to leave quickly, the sooner the better.

Thinking of this, Emily started to walk out. As she brushed past Michael, he grabbed her.

But this time, Emily wasn't in the mood to argue with Michael. "Think whatever you want, let go of me."

She simply used a bit of force, shook him off, and then looked at him with an extremely annoyed expression.

At that moment, Michael frowned, his eyes full of panic. More importantly, he knew that he and Emily were completely over.

Thinking of Sophia and the child in her belly, Michael had no choice. He took a deep breath and said, "Let's get the divorce procedures done as soon as possible, and the property division needs to be expedited. Whatever you want, just tell Andrew."

Emily stopped in her tracks. "I want this house at Emerald Lake Manor."

Michael turned around. "What did you say?"

Emily looked at Michael. "I said, I want this wedding house at Emerald Lake Manor."

Emerald Lake Manor was indeed the best property in the center of Emerald City that Mason helped them buy when they got married. Emily just wanted to keep the memories here and not let someone who shouldn't live here move in. Otherwise, that would be the real humiliation, a memory that would make her miserable for a lifetime.

But Michael thought Emily was after the value of Emerald Lake Manor, especially since there were people here who spoke for her.

"Impossible." Michael refused without thinking.

How could he leave their wedding house to her and then let her bring another man in? Michael added, "Other than this house, you can choose any other place in Emerald City."

Emily's nose felt uncomfortable, and her eyes turned red. "I just want this one. If you don't give it to me, then I don't want anything." With that, Emily picked up her suitcase and was about to leave.

Michael was really fed up with her spoiled nature. He gritted his teeth and shouted after her, "I'll leave the key with Ava later."

Emily heard him but didn't stop, continuing to walk forward until she disappeared into the darkness.

Michael didn't go home for a long time. He just stood there, staring at the spot where her slender figure had vanished, the dim warm light making his eyes darker, his back lonely.

Emily headed straight to Abigail's house. Luckily, Abigail always kept spare keys. This time she was on a business trip and had told Emily to get the key from under the doormat, so Emily naturally let herself in.

In the small but cozy house, she was alone, with plenty of good food and drinks. More importantly, when the lights were turned on, the bed was covered with floral sheets, and the table was filled with tempting fruits. Everything looked so warm. Much better than Emerald Lake Manor, which seemed to have beautiful memories but was still cold and hopeless.

The phone rang again. Emily got up, grabbed it from the table, then sat on the carpet, leaning against the sofa, and opened the message.

Surprisingly, it was from Bryan. [Did you have a fight with Michael?]

How did he know? Emily didn't understand. Logically, Michael wouldn't be so talkative as to tell his former friends this news. Or did he know they were about to divorce, so this guy was ready to celebrate? Emily hesitated, not knowing how to reply.

After a while, Bryan sent another message. [I saw him at The Tipsy Tavern, drinking alone.]

Drinking didn't necessarily mean it was because of her. Emily couldn't help but mock herself. She knew Michael. He had just mocked her for pretending, and now he was going to a bar to drink and miss her? Impossible. He was never the type of deep, affectionate male lead, and she wasn't the pampered rich girl protagonist.

Living in this world, everything had to be fought for by herself. Emily smiled bitterly. She suddenly remembered that everyone liked to praise her independence.

Yes, under the pressure of treacherous people and the harsh environment, of course, she had to be independent. So, Emily put down her phone, got up, and started packing her luggage. The Tipsy Tavern.

Bryan rarely came to such places. Today was because of the high work intensity, leading to full pressure, and he saw friends playing on his feed, so he thought of joining in the fun.

But unexpectedly, while going to the bathroom, Bryan happened to see Michael sitting alone at the bar drinking. Judging by the look of it, he had drunk quite a bit.

Bryan originally wanted to send a message to Emily to let her come and pick him up. But unexpectedly, Emily didn't respond.

Bryan stared at the unresponsive phone screen for a long time, then frowned, got up, and walked to the bar.

"Did you have a fight with Emily?" Bryan asked Michael almost the same question.

Michael turned his head when he heard the noise, saw that it was Bryan, snorted, and continued drinking.

Bryan really didn't like being ignored, especially being ignored twice in a row. He sat down beside him and continued to ask, "What happened between you and Emily?" Bryan wasn't good at comforting, but in his view, this was almost a friendly inquiry.

But Michael didn't appreciate it. Drunk and in a bad mood, he dizzily muttered to Bryan, "We're dividing the assets."
