The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 102 The True Face of Scarlett

"Michael, what the hell are you doing?" Mason's hand shook as he saw the scene, causing his cane to clatter to the floor. He glared at Michael, who was using his body to shield Scarlett. Emily rushed over to pull Michael away.

But it was too late; the scar on Michael's back was already visible, and there was a faint red mark on his neck.

Emily's heart broke at the sight. Her eyes welled up, and she started to cry. "Are you okay?"

Emily still cared about Michael. She had loved him for over three years, and no matter how bad their fights got, she couldn't just let go of their relationship.

Michael didn't expect Emily to start crying out of nowhere. Seeing her tear-streaked face, he was surprised but also felt a weird sense of happiness.

He moved closer and gently patted her arm. "It's nothing, just a scratch. I'm not gonna die."

With Michael's arrival, the chaos settled down.

But Mason was still fuming, and tonight's issue was far from resolved.

The Smith family sat solemnly in the living room, gathered together.

To keep things private, all the servants were sent out of the mansion, basically giving them the night off.

Now, Mason sat at the head of the table, with Veda by his side.

After the family doctor checked Michael's wound and confirmed it was nothing serious, Michael sat down with Emily.

Scarlett stood alone in the center of the room, defiantly staring at Mason.

Tonight's setup made it clear she was about to get a scolding.

"Don't look at me like that. You're not getting out of this today!" Mason suddenly shouted at Scarlett.

He then called Benjamin to recount the events to Michael and Emily, mainly about Scarlett's involvement with some shady gigolos, and then he presented the crucial evidence, a voice recorder. Seeing this, Scarlett rushed forward to grab the recorder, but Benjamin pushed her away.

"Benjamin, what are you doing! How dare you push my mom!" Veda scolded.

Only one person in the room didn't get what was going on, and that was Veda. She still wanted to cover for Scarlett to protect her allowance.

"Grandpa, are you really going to ignore our family's bond? Do you have to make a big deal out of this? Dad died early, and Mom had a hard time raising us alone. Instead of feeling sorry for her, you let a lowly servant lay hands on her. Dad's spirit in heaven won't forgive you!" Veda said.

"Ah." Veda was slapped by Michael.

All of Michael's actions tonight left Emily stunned. Although he had spoken harshly to Veda before, he had never hit her. But tonight, Michael had slapped Veda hard.

Veda was immediately thrown to the ground, her hair a mess, and even one of her diamond earrings fell off.

"Michael, calm down!" Emily knew that as long as she hadn't divorced Michael, she had the right to be involved in the Smith family's affairs.

Tonight, she needed to show the demeanor of the lady of the house, protect Veda, and manage the situation.

But Veda didn't appreciate it at all. She pushed Emily away and started cursing, her words extremely harsh.

"Emily, now you want to play the good person? You've already bewitched Michael, and now even Grandpa is charmed by you. What exactly do you want? Do you want every man in the world to fall for you? You seductive woman, jinx, do you dare to tell Grandpa about your affair with Daniel? Do you dare..."

Before Veda could finish, Michael slapped her again. "Michael, you're my brother, and you hit me for this woman!"

"Michael, calm down!" Emily pleaded.

"I didn't hit you hard enough, Veda. Do you believe I'll tear your mouth apart?" Michael snapped.

The Smith family descended into chaos once again.

Michael, like an enraged lion, seemed ready to pounce on Veda and beat her up.

Emily, however, was immune to Veda's words by now. She just wanted to prevent the situation from escalating further.

Veda, being a stubborn person, continued to argue with Michael, relying on her status as the family's young lady.

Seeing this, Scarlett couldn't help but smirk, lifting her chin and looking at Mason with interest, as if to say, "See, I still have people protecting me, first Michael, now Veda. You want to get rid of me? You should see if my children will allow it!" Mason's patience had clearly reached its limit. This time, it wasn't his cane that was thrown to the ground but a precious teacup he had cherished for over a decade. At this, everyone fell silent.

Veda collapsed on the ground, sobbing with red eyes, looking like a complete shrew.

Seeing her like this, Mason felt a pang of sadness and instructed Benjamin, "Call a few servants to take Veda to the guest room. Let her throw her tantrum there!" "Grandpa, no, let go of me!" Veda was dragged away, crying and screaming.

Even though Scarlett kept threatening from the side, saying Mason was illegally restricting personal freedom, no one paid her any attention, not even Benjamin, who just snorted at her a few times.

"Alright, Veda is gone. No matter how much you cry or act, it won't work. Veda is young and ignorant, but Michael isn't a fool. He protected you once because he feared you'd die in the Smith family! He's been through so much since he was young. It's time for him to see what kind of person his mother really is!" Mason glared at Scarlett and then instructed Benjamin to play the recording.

The room fell silent instantly.

Scarlett's voice came through, with a tone of disdain and arrogance. "Oh, don't worry, the Smith family will be mine sooner or later! What? Do you think he can outlive me? I have my children by my side, and I'm the legitimate wife of the Smith family. What do I have to fear! From now on, they'll have to obey me!"

"What daughter-in-law, what grandson? Emily will soon be kicked out by Michael! At that time, she won't even be able to keep herself, let alone fight me for the family assets."

"You don't know, do you? Last night, I almost had her raped. Unfortunately, the guy was clumsy and was discovered by Michael. Otherwise, they would have divorced by now."

"But it's okay. In this kind of thing, there's always a chance of failure. I'll just try again. Anyway, the Smith family is full of idiots. They can't outsmart me! Even Michael and Veda are no match for me."

The more they listened, the more unbearable Scarlett's words became.

Emily couldn't listen any longer, especially since it involved that night's close call. But she knew that someone else was feeling even worse than she was.
