Teresa walked towards the garden and caught sight of Ethan seated there and he looked so deep In thought. Ever since he got back from the hospital, he had been moody and hardly ever said a word. She could understand how he felt though after all his own mum shot him and was sent to prison, someone he loved with his whole life.
Sighing softly, she made her way towards where he was sitting and sat beside him but he didn't even notice her come around until she prodded him.
"What are you thinking so intently about?" She asked, cutting into his reverie of thought and he quickly turned towards her before giving a fake smile. "Terry, I didn't hear you come here. Why are you here?" He replied, as a fake smile continued to linger on his face but she could see through it and see how he was in pain. " Ethan, are you still mad at me for what I said to you?" He gently cupped her face and smiled," why would you think that?it's okay, I am not mad at you okay?so stop thinking about that and focus on the life ahead". She continued to look at him without say anything, the man who was always cheerful and talkative around her was silent today and he was trying to hide his pain from her, the man who always wanted her to come out of her introverted shell was not withdrawn from everyone and it broke her heart because she knew she was partly responsible for whatever he was going through.
"Ethan, I know being involved in my family costs you your mother. You have loved her for years and I can understand how you feel, trust me, I really don't like seeing you in this kind of situation and if there is anything I can do to make up for what my family has done I will surely do it. Please stop keeping things to yourself and be back to your normal self already, I miss you Ethan" she said sincerely as her voice began to crack and she could feel tears well up in her eyes. She didn't know how he became such an important part of her life but she didn't want to stay without him. If he kept on not saying anything and being quiet she would go crazy.
As soon as he saw tears in her eyes, his resolve broke and he pulled her to an embrace, the tears he had been struggling to keep inside of him burst out and he started crying like a baby. He was hurt, deeply hurt by everything that happened and he could no longer pretend he was okay.
"I was just six when I lost my mum Terry, she was also American and I loved being around her. When she died both father and I were so devastated but a ray of hope came into our lives when Jennie came. She loved me and treated me like her own child and she became the most important part of my life but I didn't know she had such a big secret surrounding her, I mean what was the need of revenge when she had everything she ever wanted?but I really miss her so much Terry, I miss her".
He held her so close to himself that she could also feel her pain and also began to cry, it wasn't easy to part with someone you love so much and she knew he would miss her for days to come.
"I am so sorry Ethan for everything you are going through because of us" she replied in a concerned tone as she slowly disengaged from him and cupped his face in her tender palms as her eyes also glistened with tears,
"I will talk to Dad and have your mum released okay? I can't bear to see you in such a state Ethan, it breaks my heart to see you like that" she said and made to stand up but he stopped her.
"No Terry, mum made a mistake and she has to pay for it. Telling uncle to release her is like asking for death on a platter of gold and I don't want the peace of this family to be disrupted because of me. Don't worry, in a few days I will be fine so you don't need to worry".
"Ethan" a voice called behind them and they both turned, it was Teresa's dad and his would be father in law.
"Dad, you are here?"
"Uncle, we didn't hear you come here".
"It's okay" he replied turning to Teresa," baby, get us some coffee" he added and she nodded before walking off. She understood her dad wanted to have a private talk with Ethan.
"Ethan" he started slowly as he sat beside him, "I understand you love Jennie alot and she might have probably loved you too but you know it's impossible for me to let her off the hook right?" He asked and he nodded respectfully,
"If she had only attempted to kill my wife and stopped there by showing remorse for her actions, I would have forgiven her a long time ago but she didn't stop there and did everything In her power to hurt her with every chance she got and I can't tolerate that". "I know that uncle and I support you in any decision you make, who knows what she would have done to them and Terry inclusive. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if anything bad happens to any of them because of my mum".
Damian looked at him for a while before patting his shoulders softly," I have already spoken to the colonel, you can visit her anytime you want and I won't have a problem with that. You took a bullet for us and this is the least I can do Ethan". For a while he kept looking at the man in front of him and he was glad he got to know him. He was principled and well respected and he felt lucky to have a father in law like him, it was only him who would still allow him see his mum after what she had done.
"Thank you so much uncle" she said sincerely as he smiled genuinely this time.
"You should call me father, I will soon be your father in law" Damian answered and they both smiled at each other as Terry walked towards them with the coffee.
"Coffee is here" she beamed happily as she saw a genuine smile on her lover's face and she just wanted to hug him.
"Enjoy it with Ethan baby, I will go and meet your mother to prepare a special one for me" her dad replied with a smirk on his face and she rolled her eyes teasingly at him.
"Disgusting dad" she whispered Into his ears.
"Should I tell your mom you are making fun of me?" He asked teasingly and she laughed before hugging him,
"I love you the most in this world Mr Damian martins".
He kissed her forehead before walking away Happily, leaving the two couples to themselves.
"What do you want to do now?" Ethan asked after a while as he sipped his coffee. An immense happiness clouded him and he wanted to share it with her.
"What do you want to do?" She asked back as she winked at him sexily and the coffee almost spilled if not for his fast reflexes.
"We should definitely go for a drive," he answered as his eyes lingered on her lips as a smirk appeared on his face. "I will get ready then" she beamed happily and ran off. If only she knew what intentions he had towards her tonight on their so- called drive.
