The Brother of My Boyfriend: A Love for Two

Chapter 11

Dylan and Mandy hug each other warmly, enjoying the moment of comfort after the situation. Shortly afterward, Mandy's parents arrive, worried, and ask if everything is all right. Dylan and Mandy answer yes, reassuring them. Time passes quickly and the hour has passed. Dylan, looking at Mandy with affection, says that he has to go home because he has a project to present to new investors. He hugs his mother-in-law, thanking her for all her affection, and then hugs his father-in-law, expressing his gratitude.

Mandy accompanies him to the door. Dylan looks into her eyes, wondering if she would like to go to the apartment with him, but she says with certainty that she would rather stay with her parents that night. However, she promises to be with him the next day.

Dylan gives her a soft kiss and, with a look full of affection, gets into his car to drive to his apartment. The night stretches out dark and silent, enveloping the surroundings in a mysterious and gloomy atmosphere. Dylan is in the car, driven by the impulse of the moment. He lowers the window and, looking into Mandy's eyes, says in a soft, sincere voice: "Mandy, I love you, my love. Dream of me."

A kiss full of feelings passes through the space between them, a gesture of desire and affection. Dylan then raises the car window, isolating himself from the outside world. The engine roars softly, and the vehicle continues on its way, cutting through the silence of the night, as Dylan heads towards his apartment, carrying with him the memory of Mandy's warm gaze.

After half an hour, Dylan arrives at his apartment building and parks the car in the garage. He takes his keys out of his pocket and steps into the elevator that takes him up to the fourth floor, where he lives. With a smooth movement, he unlocks the door.

As he enters, he is surprised by the presence of his brother, Jason, sitting on the sofa, cuddling with Megan, who jumps a little in surprise when she hears the door open. She smiles and greets Dylan with a warm "hello", wishing him a good evening and expressing how nice it was to meet him.

Dylan gently suggests that she doesn't need to leave immediately, as it's already quite late. However, Megan explains that she has appointments at college in the morning and that her cab is already waiting for her downstairs. Jason gets up, kisses Megan goodbye, and walks her to the door.

After Megan leaves, Jason closes the door and turns to Dylan, excited to share what it was like to meet Megan.

Jason settles down on the sofa next to Dylan, surprised. "Where are you coming from at this hour? I thought you were in your room sleeping. You're always so neat. You like to go to bed early."

Dylan smiles, explaining: "I was at Mandy's. I had dinner with her and her parents. My mother-in-law made a wonderful lasagna for me to eat. We chatted for a while and I came over."

Curious, Jason asks: "Well, why isn't Mandy here, didn't she want to come with you?"

Dylan replies sympathetically: "No, she needs to stay with her parents. She's an only child, so... Sometimes she wants to be near them so they don't feel like they're losing her. And she has to be at college tomorrow." Interested, Dylan asks about Jason's relationship: "And you and Megan, when did that come about?"

Jason explains enthusiastically: "Yeah, we're getting to know each other better. I met her the day I picked up Mandy. I thought she was a nice girl. We're getting on well. And she's not the kind of woman who waits for you to give her a bouquet. That's what fascinates me about her."

Dylan looks for more details: "And where did you... Have you been here all afternoon?"

Jason replies bluntly: "No, we went to a hotel. To make ourselves more at home. I didn't want you and Mandy to be here. Catch us in some compromising situation. If you know what I mean. So I went with her to a hotel. We had a few drinks. You have to see how hot she is. She does things that no one else has ever done."

Dylan asks seriously: "Please. I ask one thing. That you don't hurt her. Even though she's crazy just like you. She's Mandy's friend. And I'd hate to see Mandy suffer because of her friend. They're like sisters."

Jason assures her: "Relax. Mandy cares a lot about her friend. Megan's a big girl. She knows what she wants. She's the one who proposed to me. I was very specific with her. Saying that I'm not the kind of guy who's going to arrive with a bouquet and tell her he loves her. She also told me the same thing: I don't expect her to say she loves me and be infatuated with me. And she suggested that we have a colorful friendship. So I'm going to enjoy this colorful friendship with her." "Ah, so if you're getting on well, and if you've made everything clear to her, I'm relieved. I just don't want to see Mandy suffer just for that, that's all, Jason. I'm going to take a shower and go to sleep because I have to get up early so I can close some new projects for the company."

"Mom called me. She told me she spoke to you. Why didn't you tell me anything, man?" Jason asks

"You know how Mom is. I just didn't want... It caused a stir. Mandy's already upset, because I ended up telling her parents that Mom called and I didn't say anything to her. And Mum doesn't like Mandy at all. Every time, she tries her best to break us up. And she puts Mandy in embarrassing situations. She keeps talking about an ex-girlfriend I had a long time ago." he explains

"Mom's already leaving. She'll be here tomorrow morning. She lied to you, saying she was coming next week. She brought the flight forward, she wanted to take us by surprise. Look at the message I got from her." (Jason shows his cell phone to Dylan, who is furious and continues.)

"I'll call her. She can't do this, think that she can stay away for several years, and then come the time when she wants to turn our lives upside down."

"You know how she is, I want to be away from here, I'm going to spend a few days in a hotel, I don't know, I don't have the mind to deal with Mom belittling me all the time like she always has," Jason says

"I love Mom but I hope she doesn't make me have to decide between her and Mandy"

"Is Mandy special to you?" Jason asks

"She's the reason I exist, when I was alone with you in Canada, Dad died and Mom went away, there wasn't a single day that I felt alone because she wouldn't let me be sad if there's an angel I'm sure she is," Dylan says. "Yes, with that little face" Jason whispers.

"What did you say?" Dylan asks

"I didn't say anything, I'm just thinking out loud. You better go take your shower tomorrow and we'll see what we can do about Mom." Jason says.

"Okay, good night," Dylan says

"Good night" Jason replies

Dylan goes to his room while Jason is thinking.
