The Brother of My Boyfriend: A Love for Two

Chapter 10

Mandy walked resolutely towards the living room with firm, determined steps. As she entered, she saw her father and Dylan talking, and a smile lit up her face. She approached the sofa and leaned over, hugging her father affectionately. The tenderness in the gesture was evident, revealing her love for him. Then her eyes met Dylan's, and with a gentle gesture, Mandy wrapped him in a warm embrace, sealing the moment with a sweet kiss. Happiness and affection permeated the room, creating an atmosphere of complicity and affection between them.

(with a warm smile) "Mandy, how nice to see you, darling. How was your day? Her father asked

"It was great, Dad. I had some college work, but everything went well. (She looks at Dylan) And you, Dylan, how was your day?"

"It was quiet, thanks for asking for love. Before you arrived, we were talking about the fire at your company.

(with a worried expression) "Fire? What happened?"

"There was a fire there today, Mandy. Thank God most people were evacuated in time, but unfortunately some weren't saved."

(sadly) "How terrible... I'm sorry to hear that, Dad. Are you all okay?"

"Yes, we escaped unharmed. But it's a tragedy for those who weren't as lucky." Franco says

"(with a sympathetic look) We're here to support you in any way we can, Mr. Franco," says Dylan

"Thank you, Dylan, I know you'll be fine, you don't know how happy Judith and I are to have you as our son-in-law," Franco says with emotion.

"That's amazing, I'm speechless, for me the greatest joy is the welcome you give me and for entrusting me with the most precious possession of your lives" Dylan says.

"My love, that's beautiful," says Mandy

Mandy's mother, Judith, walks into the living room with a warm smile on her face. She calls their names softly, announcing the dinner she has lovingly prepared "Mandy, dear, your favorite Torah is on the menu today. I'm sure you'll love it!" Judith says

"Mom? This is amazing! I can't wait to try it!" Mandy replies

"It looks delicious, Mrs. Judith. Thanks again for inviting me to dinner."

"It's a pleasure to have you with us, Dylan. Make yourself at home." Judith says

As they walk together towards the dining room, the family enjoys the moment of togetherness and chats animatedly, sharing laughs and stories of the day.

The dining room radiates a warm, family atmosphere. A large wooden table occupies the center, carefully arranged with gleaming cutlery and decorative plates. On an elegant sideboard, lighted candles in glass holders create a soft glow, adding a touch of intimacy to the space. The walls display pictures of happy family times, reminding everyone of the precious moments shared. A large window lets in soft evening light, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The delicious aroma of the meal prepared by Judith hangs in the air, whetting everyone's appetite. It's a place where laughter, stories, and affection intertwine, forming the perfect setting for another memorable family evening. "Dylan, darling, tell me more about your brother Jason. I've had the chance to meet him briefly and he seems like a lovely boy. But I've also noticed that he's quite different from you." Judith comments on Jason

"Oh, that's right. Jason and I are like wine and water, but we get on very well. He's more outgoing, likes adventures, and has an incredible sense of humor. I think you two could get along." Dylan says

"Sounds great! It will be interesting to get to know him better. It's always fascinating how siblings can be so different but still support each other." Judith says

"For sure, even with our differences, Jason is an important part of my life. I hope everyone gets along when we have the chance to spend more time together."

"Judith, I was curious. You mentioned that you found Dylan and Jason quite different. Could you tell me what caught your eye?" Franco asks

"Of course, Franco. It was just a superficial observation. Dylan is more reserved and has a very gentle manner, while Jason seems to be more outgoing and full of energy. But, of course, I haven't had the chance to meet Jason for real yet." Judith replies

"I see. It will be great when you can all spend some time together. I'm sure you'll find a lot in common and get on very well." Franco says

"Dylan, I have an idea. How about we arrange a barbecue soon? It would be great to have the whole family together. And of course, it would be nice if you brought Jason too." Franco proposes

"That would be amazing, Franco! I'm sure Jason would love it. I'll talk to him and work out the details." Dylan says

"Great! What about your mother, have you heard from her recently?" Franco asks

"Yes, she's fine. We had a chat last night. She sends her regards, by the way." Dylan says

"I'm glad to hear that. Tell her I miss her and that I can't wait to see her again at the barbecue." Judith interrupts them Mandy looks at Dylan's face in surprise and says: "I didn't know you'd spoken to your mother, you haven't said anything."

Dylan looks at her, a little surprised, and replies: "Oh, it was a quick chat. Mom called to see if everything was okay with me and then I forgot to tell you."

Mandy holds back, aware of the complicated history between her and Dylan's mother. After a moment of silence, she takes a deep breath and decides to get up, saying, "I'm going to get some more water." Mandy's mother looks at her with understanding but with a touch of concern. "My dear, there's water here on the table."

She replies with a forced smile, trying to avoid confrontation: "I'd rather get some water from the fridge."

She gets up and leaves the dining room, seeking a moment of tranquility. Dylan, concentrating on his conversation with his in-laws, doesn't notice the tension.

After a moment, he asks to be excused and follows Mandy, worried that he has said something that has hurt her.

Dylan enters the kitchen and notices that Mandy is a little upset that he hid the conversation with his mother. Carefully, he strokes her cheek, but Mandy turns her face away, trying to push his hands away. He looks at her with concern and asks: "What happened? Why are you shutting down like this?"

Mandy replies sincerely: "Because you always do, Dylan. I know she's your mother and that, no matter what, she'll always be your mother. But you know that every time you talk to her, she always tries to get you to break up with me. I'm hoping that one day she'll understand and accept it."

Dylan gently takes her hands, brings them back to his face, and caresses them, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. He looks deeply into her eyes and says with conviction: "There's nothing she can do to keep us apart, Mandy. And she knows it. If one day I have to choose, get to the point where I have to choose between her and you, I won't hesitate to choose you. She knows that too."

Mandy looks at Dylan with a serious expression and begins to speak: "But I don't want that. I don't want you to feel pressured to choose between your mother and me. All I want is for her to see me as someone you love, for her to like me a little, the way she liked your ex-girlfriend. Sometimes she insists on telling you if you're really happy with me. And these things hurt me. She doesn't realize that we're happy together. And she doesn't want to accept that we're good. She doesn't want to see how good we are for each other."

Dylan looks at her from afar, his eyes expressing understanding. "Don't worry about it, Mandy. The fact that she likes my ex doesn't mean that I have any chance of getting back with her. I'm sure you're the woman of my life. You're the one I want. She knows that as soon as you finish college, you're going to get married. And there's nothing, absolutely nothing, that will make me happier than being by your side. Even if she doesn't accept that."

Dylan approached her and hugged her by the shoulders, gently and firmly, conveying security and love.
