The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 113 Mr. Carter Takes Action

Allison was freaking out about going home with her face all swollen.

"Ms. Bennett, Mr. Bennett's stable now. Dr. Phillips is here to keep an eye on him. Let me take you home," James offered. James had been by Allison's side the whole time, and it was already past 3 a.m. She felt a bit bad for making him stay so late.

"James, please don't tell Alexander about what happened earlier. I don't want him stressing over my family drama," Allison pleaded, looking at James with hopeful eyes.

James couldn't say no to her. "Don't worry, Ms. Bennett. I won't tell Mr. Carter. But things might get messier. It might not be safe for Mr. Hayden Bennett to stay here. Mr. Carter has already arranged for two bodyguards, but Mr. Preston Bennett might cause more trouble."

Allison nodded. She knew exactly what kind of person Preston was. For money, he'd do anything, even hurt his own father. He was just that selfish.

"I'll arrange for my grandpa to be moved to another hospital. Thanks for everything today, James," Allison said.

James nodded, looking at her swollen face, sighing inwardly. What kind of hatred could make someone hit his own daughter so hard? It was just monstrous.

When they got home, it was already 4 a.m. Allison opened the door and saw the house was dark, which made her feel relieved. She changed her shoes and walked inside, but suddenly, the living room light flicked on.

Allison didn't expect to see Alexander sitting there. She instinctively covered her face with her hand, letting some strands of hair fall over her left cheek.

"Why are you still up so late?" Allison asked.

Alexander had already stood up. "I couldn't sleep without you here. How's Hayden?"

At the mention of Hayden, Allison nodded and looked up at Alexander. "The surgery went well. He's fine now."

Alexander nodded, pulling Allison to sit on the couch. He casually glanced at her face, then suddenly stopped. He turned around, lifted her hair, and his eyes instantly filled with rage. "What happened? Who hit you?" Allison covered her face, not saying a word. Alexander got anxious and picked up his phone to make a call, but Allison stopped him. "Don't worry, I'm fine. It was Preston." Alexander was shaking with anger. The person he cherished so much had been hit. How could he tolerate it?

"Go take a shower. I'll get some medicine for you," Alexander said.

Once she was in the bathroom, he made a call. "Help me deal with someone."

When Allison came out of the shower, Alexander had made her a bowl of pasta. "Eat first."

Allison sat down to eat the pasta. Alexander brought over a first aid kit. After she finished eating, he pulled her to the couch and gently applied ointment to her face.

"I know you can handle your family issues, but I can't stand you getting hurt. Allison, I've already intervened. Whatever happens next, I hope you can understand," Alexander said slowly. Allison's eyes reddened, and she leaned on his shoulder. "Alexander, you're so good to me."

Alexander was heartbroken. He turned to look at her and saw she had fallen asleep with her eyes closed. He kissed her forehead and carried her to the master bedroom.

At the hospital, Cade got admitted for gastroenteritis. Preston called the hospital director, who came to check on Cade.

The director said, "The kid's fine. A few days of IV fluids should do the trick. Just watch his diet and avoid raw and cold foods for a bit."

Preston nodded and walked the director out. When he got back, Helena rushed over and clung to his arm.

"Preston, I was so freaked out earlier that I forgot Blair was here too. What do we do now? I brought Cade to see Mr. Bennett, but now he's in the hospital. If the Ember family finds out, they'll definitely..."

"Don't worry, I'll handle it. Just take care of Cade. I'll visit the Ember family. As for Blair, don't bother with her. We're getting divorced soon anyway," Preston reassured her.

Blair was standing at the door of the ward, overhearing everything. Realizing she was always considered irrelevant, she gave a bitter smile and left the hospital.

But she wasn't about to give up that easily. The next day, she hired a lawyer to gather evidence. Even if she had to divorce, she would make Preston pay.

The next day, Allison woke up to find it was already noon. She was startled and quickly got out of bed, realizing this wasn't her room.

Allison was confused. How did she end up in Alexander's room? She turned to look at the pillow beside her, which clearly showed someone had slept there. Her face turned red. She had actually shared a bed with Alexander. How embarrassing! She hurried out, and as soon as she opened the door, she saw Felicity in the living room. Felicity spotted her coming out of Alexander's bedroom, making Allison feel even more awkward. "Felicity!" Allison greeted her.

"Good morning, Ms. Bennett. Mr. Carter said you slept late last night, so he didn't wake you this morning. There's food ready in the kitchen. Please freshen up and come eat," Felicity said cheerfully, her eyes sparkling with excitement, which made Allison's scalp tingle with unease.

After changing her clothes, Allison received a call from Jonah.

"Jonah, how's Grandpa?" Allison asked as soon as she answered the phone.

"Ms. Bennett, don't worry. He's fine. Dr. Phillips is keeping an eye on him. However, Mr. Preston Bennett had a car accident last night. He's in the hospital with a broken arm. Do you want to come visit him?" Preston had a car accident? What a coincidence.

"No need. I have an appointment today. I'll visit Grandpa tonight," Allison said and hung up.

Alexander had been working in the study and came out when he heard the noise outside.

"Are you going to the hospital today? I'll go with you," Alexander offered, but Allison immediately dismissed the idea.

"You need to rest at home. Don't go anywhere. Look at yourself; you're in no condition to be running around. Mr. Carter, I'm already very busy. Could you please let me worry a little less?" she said in a tone that was both stern and caring, making Alexander chuckle.

"Alright, I'll listen to you. But if you need to meet with the Bennetts, you must have someone with you. You can't argue with that," Alexander insisted.

Allison didn't object, which made Alexander sigh in relief.

Felicity also noticed the slap mark on Allison's face and felt a pang of sympathy.

"How can he treat you like this? It's just heartless. Look at your poor face, it's terrible!" Felicity exclaimed.
