Chapter 135
Chapter 135
Raphael's POV The next morning, I'm back in the woods and on my way to my mate's pack. It's surreal when I think about it as that.
Henry is walking for me at the pack's front door just like the previous day. We head to the training grounds together and I immediately notice the drastic change from the crowd of yesterday.
Did I actually succeed in scaring them off? Damn. I thought they would last longer.
"The teenagers are at school," Henry supplies, probably making out the confused expression on my face. "Sadly, they will only be able to join us on the weekends."
I nod in understanding and walk to the middle of the room to begin another day of training * A few excruciatingly painful hours later, we call it a day and I watch as they limp and drag themselves to the pack house.
"Hey," I call out, grabbing his attention. He turns around and wipes his sweaty forehead with the back of his palm.
His brows knit in question as I get closer to him.
"So." I draw out, suddenly feeling like an idiot as I stand awkwardly in front of him.
I get an arched eyebrow and more confusion from him.
I force my lips to part as I push the next words out, "where does the teenager school at?" I hold in a curse once the words are out in the air. Someone should really think of inventing a time machine. It will be a money maker and I'll be their trusted user because I sure as hell say a lot of stupid shit I wish I could take back.
"It's just a few miles from here," he replies and my head snaps up in surprise. "Head north and ask around for directions if you get lost. You can't really miss it though." He turns on his heel and walks out of the room, leaving me gaping at his retreating figure like an idiot. No questions? No suspicions? No chasing me out of their pack with a machete?
Am I supposed to be glad or worried that he didn't question why I needed that information? Not to mention that he handed the answer to me on a silver platter. Oh well. I'm not about to look a gift horse in the mouth.
I make my way out of the training grounds and head north as Henry directed. Just as he said, it's hard to miss the blue and white painted school with the pack's name written boldly on it.
The school is sectioned into two buildings, one bigger than the other. I'm guessing that the bigger one houses the teenagers while the smaller one is for the kids.
I'm met with my first obstacle; finding out the building that Daphne works in. She doesn't seem like the kind of person who would want to be surrounded by moody, bratty teenagers all day. Furthermore, I recall how those little kids flocked to her side the first day I met her and I come to a decision.
Taking in a deep breath, I survey the
smaller building, wondering how I'm
going to be able to get in there. I
highly doubt that the grouchy-looking security guard posted at the entrance is going to let me in when I tell him that I need to woo my mate. Nah, that isn't going to work on someone whos e e ms to have a permanent scowl on his
face.
I stay out here for a good fifteen minutes, contemplating my next move. Just as I'm about to say fuck it and head over to the security guard, a loud bell rings, and the huge gates fall open.
People start milling into the school, all heading towards the smaller building. I blend in with the crowd and breathe out a sigh of relief when I pass through the gates without any notice.
I follow the path made by the little kids who are running out of the building and jumping into their parents' outstretched arms. That path leads me into the school and into a hallway that's decorated with bright colors and several animated characters.
Peeping into the classrooms I walk past, my steps come to a halt once I find the recent bane of my existence. Daphne is on the floor and helping a little boy to put on his socks and shoes.
My breath hitches as I stare at the
sight before me. Her head is tilted to the side, her beautiful hair cascades over her shoulders, and her bottom lip is between her teeth as she
concentrates on the task bone
her.
She looks like a sensual dream. One that I'm afraid to reach for because I'm scared she might just disappear and prove to be a mirage.
"Excuse me," a high-pitched voice says from behind me, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I murmur a quick apology as I step away from the door to allow the middle-aged lady behind me to pass through.
She pushes open the door and both Daphne and the boy wearing a single shoe turn their head to the sound.
With a curse, I press my back to the wall beside the door, silently hoping that Daphne didn't catch me peeping into her classroom like a freak.
I let out another curse as I realized
that hiding away wasn't going to
help my case. I'm here to tell her that
we're fated mate and find a way convince her to move in with me, but I'm frightened by the prospect of her seeing me. How on earth am I going to successfully persuade her?
I am so screwed. And it isn't the good kind.
