Chapter 258 A Few Extra Words
"People always seem to be in a bad mood. I'm so pleased to know that you are well now. Oh, and by the way, can you give me your number? I'll understand if you don't want to," said Nancy.
"Okay," Boyd replied and gave his phone number to Nancy. "We're leaving, Director Nancy."
"Okay, bye."
"Bye."
Accompanied by his wife, Boyd walked towards the elevator.
"Finally, he left. It seemed as if he caused Director Nancy a lot of trouble!" Anna said with a smile.
"That's not the case. It's just that..." Nancy looked up at Anna and said, "Boyd was mentally sick during that time. It's quite surprising. It doesn't seem like a genetic disorder. And it was so sudden last time. I fee that someone is behind it!"
Nancy felt that Anna had something to do with what happened to Boyd. She thought that her words might startle Anna, but they didn't. She appeared as calm as she could be.
She smiled faintly and said, "Yes, Director Nancy. I also sense foul play. Someone clearly did something to Boyd on purpose, but who could be so bold?"
As Anna was speaking, she glanced at Jessie, who came and stood beside her.
The implication was self-evident.
Jessie wasn't a fool. Since Anna didn't want to help her, she had no reason to take the blame for Anna.
"How could someone be so vicious?" Jessie accused.
Anna's cheeks reddened with shame.
"That's right. Fortunately, Boyd didn't jump off the building. If he did it, the person behind all of this would probably feel paranoid the rest of his or her life." Although Nancy was annoyed, her voice sounded very peaceful.
"Well, the woman who did such a thing must be inhuman! Director Nancy, there're all kinds of people. Don't believe that everyone is kind!" Jessie said sarcastically, squinting at Anna.
Anna was so angry that her face turned red. She didn't expect that Jessie, who didn't have a background, would be so arrogant in front of her.
She stamped her feet in anger, turned around, and left.
"Director Nancy, I heard that your shoulder got injured a few days ago. Are you well now?" Jessie asked with concern.
"It's fine now," said Nancy with a smile.
It was true that the enemy of her enemy was her friend. If Jessie took Anna down, she was okay with that. She wasn't bothered about either of them leaving.
However, she still hoped that Jessie would stay.
After all, she was an experienced doctor in the pediatric department. Although she was greedy, she had more experience as compared to Anna from a patient's point of view.
Moreover, Anna was quite arrogant. Nancy believed that Anna was not suitable to be a doctor.
"Well, about Anna." Jessie lowered her voice as if she didn't want anyone to hear what she wanted to say.
Nancy really hated to gossip, so she interrupted Jessie immediately, "Director Jessie, will you be in the outpatient department today? I must make the rounds in the wards now. Let's talk later!"
Then she turned around and left.
"Yes, I'm going to the outpatient department today," Jessie said awkwardly.
She was feeling irritated at the moment. Earlier, she had planned to arrange for Anna to work at the First Pediatric Department. She would then ask Anna to help her deal with Nancy, but she didn't expect Anna to behave in the manner that she did.
Anna was trying to take over her position! Did she want to defeat Nancy as well?
If that was the case, then she was too ambitious!
In the Wang family's home,
Anna went home later after the operation because she was humiliated by Jessie.
Seeing that David's car wasn't in the yard, she thought that he hadn't come home yet.
Therefore, Anna stood under the eaves of the villa and wept.
Ever since her mother died, she had been the apple of David's eyes all these years. He would do anything for her.
No matter what Anna wanted, he would always try his best to satisfy her.
Such constant pampering resulted in her personality becoming domineering, unreasonable and selfcentered.
Undoubtedly, the person Jessie was referring to was Anna. It was true that she did those things, but she couldn't stand when other people blamed her.
Jessie clearly had no evidence against Anna. How dare she blame her?
The more Anna thought about it, the angrier she became. Tears rolled down her eyes like beads.
When David's car came in, Anna started to cry even harder.
As soon as David got out of the car, Anna rushed into his arms.
"Dad,"
"Oh, Anna, what's wrong with you? Who bullied you?" David asked concernedly.
"Jessie scolded me today," Anna said with a grievance as she wiped away her tears.
"Anna, you aren't a child anymore. If there is a conflict, you should resolve it, one way or another. Why did you quarrel with her? Tell me." David asked patiently.
"Dad, you don't know. Jessie is unreasonable all the time. I don't want to see her ever again. I get angry at the sight of her. Dad, didn't you say that you had talked to Charles? About me being the director of the First Pediatric Department, but why hasn't he acted upon it yet?" Anna shook David's arm and acted like a spoiled child.
Anna's crying made David's heart ache. He wished that Jessie was in front of him right now so he could kill her.
"Anna, I did talk to him. But he hasn't taken any action yet. I can't urge him. Let's way and see!" David sighed.
After all, Jessie had done an excellent job. And all David could do was talk to Charles. Then it was up to Charles to do something about it.
In the end, Charles owned the hospital, and he had the final say.
"Jessie is so bad. Dad, she doesn't really deserve to be a doctor. A doctor should treat the patients kindly, am I right?" Anna said after thinking for a while.
"What about you? Didn't you go to the police station for what you did a few days ago? Fortunately, the thing didn't resurface because of me. Otherwise, you... Look, Anna. I know you are highly capable, but you can't get everything you want. How can I let Charles fire Jessie without any reason?" David said reluctantly.
"Okay, I will prove it to you that she is vicious and greedy. I must tell you that she isn't a good person!" After saying that, Anna went upstairs in a fit of fury.
David sighed and shook his head.
As soon as Charles arrived in his office, he called Hiram.
"Mr. Fu, what's up?" Hiram queried.
Charles threw the notebook at him. "Have a look at it yourself. What is this?"
Hiram opened it. "It seems as if someone received money from somewhere. Whose money is it? Mr. Fu, where did you get the notebook from?"
