Chapter 218 Test
"Is it really her?" Charles's eyebrows twitched. Anna had studied abroad for many years. There was no doubt about her skills. If she chose to focus on honing her skills, she would definitely surpass Jessie in a
few years.
But he didn't expect her to frame Nancy.
"Yeah. You didn't expect that, did you?" Nancy asked.
'Til call Hiram right now and ask him to-" Charles started to offer. He could always count on Hiram to help solve his problems.
"It's fine. I can do it myself," Nancy interjected as she put her phone away.
"Sure you can, you stubborn little woman," Charles replied as he pulled on her cheeks playfully.
"Well, it's time this little woman grows up. If you want to..." Nancy began before turning around.
"Come here and tell me. When are you going to finish that drawing?" Charles was eager to get the answer.
"I don't have time. If you have time, you can finish it for me." A hint of slyness and mischief flashed through her eyes. Yes, that answer would come sooner or later. But for now, she could wait. She wasn't ready yet.
So now, her strategy was to stall.
"When did you learn to act like a spoiled child?" Charles smiled. He had known Nancy for a long time and acting like a spoiled brat was not in her character.
Her flirtatious nature, however, was interesting. It was the perfect mix of shyness and seduction that drove him mad.
The more she tried to act all sweet and shy, the more he wanted her. And when she began to flirt with him? It drove him crazy.
"Was I acting like a spoiled child? I could never! Not in front of you, anyways," Nancy denied as her face flushed in embarrassment.
"It's cute, though. I like it." Charles stared at her eyes as he said, "Let's give our children another brother or sister."
"No way!" she refused loudly.
Her complaints weren't for long though as Charles pulled her into his arms and effectively silenced her.
The next day, Nancy sent the recording to the police bright and early.
"Nancy, remember to call me if you need anything, okay?" Charles reminded her before she went out.
The human heart was unpredictable. How could an innocent person like Nancy deal with it?
"Sure. Take care of the kids. I'm going to work," Nancy said happily.
"Mommy, come home early tonight!" Nadia said.
"I will. I'll see you later!" And with that, she left their home.
Nancy thought that what she saw in the hospital would be enough for the police to take Anna away or at the very least, have her investigated.
But the police didn't appear.
Or maybe it was too early. Maybe they would get here in the afternoon.
But the police still did not come that afternoon.
Just then, Nancy saw Jessie.
As soon as Jessie saw her, she smiled, "Oh, Director Nancy. You look so beautiful today!"
Nancy didn't appreciate Jessie's attempt at flattery so she returned a cold smile at her. "Director Jessie, don't you have an operation today? I didn't expect to see you.
"Oh, I had one but I asked Dr. Anna to do it." Jessie waved off her concern as she made herself comfortable in Nancy's office. "Director Nancy, what do you think of Dr. Anna's character?"
Nancy never liked to talk about others behind their backs. In an effort to side step Jessie's question, she replied, "Director Jessie, Dr. Anna has been following you all the time. I don't know her that well to have any thoughts about her character."
"I think she's too young and impulsive. If I were you, Director Nancy, I wouldn't take her seriously," Jessie said.
"Young and impulsive? Really? What made you say so? Director Jessie, don't beat around the bush with me. Just tell me if you have any problem!"
"Oh, I see," Jessie said cryptically before she paused to think for a while.
The truth was it wasn't Jessie who wanted to visit Nancy.
That morning, Jessie saw Anna standing in her office with a long face.
"What's wrong?" Jessie asked.
"Someone dared to hurt me here!" Anna exclaimed, gritting her teeth in anger.
"Hurt you?" Jessie rolled her eyes at the woman's dramatic antic. She knew there was bad blood between Anna and Nancy. But Jessie didn't ever think that Nancy would lift a hand to hurt Anna.
And more than that, Nancy was not the type of person who would do something so scandalous. Did Anna mean Nancy or was it someone else?
"I have an idea that it's Nancy. It's just a suspicion, though," Anna said with disdain.
"Dr. Anna, please. Enough with the nonsense. If Nancy heard this, it will cause trouble!" Jessie moved closer to Anna to whisper, "That woman is not as stupid as you seem to think so!"
Anna raised one brow at Jessie, challenging her, "Humph, I didn't expect that someone would figure out my plan so soon. Who do you think it is?"
Jessie was a cunning fox. She had heard and seen a lot of things. As soon as the words left Anna's lips, she guessed what the real matter was. But she couldn't let Anna know that she was already aware of her plans.
So she hurriedly interrupted Anna, "Ah, Dr. Anna. Again, stop with the nonsense. What happened with Boyd has nothing to do with us..." "Correct! It has nothing to do with us," Anna replied quickly.
"I have a small operation this morning. Dr. Anna, please help me. I'm a little dizzy. I don't know what's wrong with me recently. Maybe it's my blood pressure acting up again," Jessie said acting as if she was in pain by holding her head up.
"You should get some rest, Director Jessie. I can perform the operation by myself." In fact, Anna preferred to finish the operation by herself. Because she was just an assistant and she would normally work behind Jessie. But without her in the operating room, Anna could finally be the principal doctor working on the operation.
In Anna's eyes, Nancy was not her only competitor here. Jessie was one, too.
It just so happened that Jessie was no match for Nancy in pediatrics.
Everything was going well with her plan, except how she framed Boyd was exposed too soon.
While she was having breakfast at home this morning, she suddenly received a call from her father, David Wang.
Someone told her father that she colluded with a bad guy and framed Boyd. Of course, David got mad.
He blamed her for causing trouble. Anna cried bitterly and said that she was the one who was framed by a bad person.
Now that he knew about what happened, her father had the choice to cover the whole thing up.
He could settle it with money. He had been working hard in the business field for so many years, so money wasn't an issue.
Over the years, he had made many friends in all the right places with money.
He knew they would come in handy at any critical moment.
That was why Nancy didn't see Anna taken away by the police today.
Anna had already suspected that someone was following her and guessed that it was Nancy. But she didn't have any evidence, so she was not sure.
After all, there were a lot of people in the hospital and Anna was arrogant. There were plenty of them who disliked her!
"Okay. Thank you, Dr. Anna." Jessie was aware of what Anna could be thinking.
In her heart, she had never considered Anna as a friend.
Anna was not just a knife she used to deal with Nancy.
