Chapter 210 Flatter Yourself
"Who is she?" Charles knew that there was a doctor named Anna Wang in the hospital, but he had never seen her before.
"Anna Wang." Nancy winced in pain.
Wasn't she the girl who stepped on Nancy on purpose?
"Hello, Mr. Fu. Nice to meet you. I was on duty today and I happened to see the incident. That man is mentally unstable and a troublemaker." As she spoke, she came over to Nancy. "Come on, Doctor Nancy. It's our surgeon's specialty to do such a thing."
After saying that, she held Nancy's arm and moved it quickly. With a click, Nancy's arm returned to its original condition.
"Thank you, Doctor Anna." Putting aside other things, it was Anna who helped her. It was reasonable for her to say "thank you". "Don't mention it. We are colleagues, so if you need any help, just let me know." Her eyes wrinkled when she smiled at Nancy.
Now she was not as hostile as before.
'It would be nice if she was not pretending,' thought Nancy.
"Thank you, Doctor Anna. I'm fine now," said Nancy politely.
"Oh, your arm is bleeding! Let me treat your wound." Without second thoughts, Anna crouched in front of her.
Don't bother. It's not a big deal." It was enough that she helped her with her dislocated bone. Nancy didn't want to bother her more.
Anna didn't insist anymore. She stood up and turned to Charles who was watching them. "Well, then I won't bother you two. Mr. Fu, please call me if you need anything." "Okay," replied Charles.
No one saw the hint of viciousness in Anna's eyes when she walked away.
Nancy was blowing on the bruise on her arm. It was painful now.
"Let me do it." Not waiting for her permission, he took the disinfected instruments and medicine. He slowly unbuttoned Nancy's coat and took it off.
His jaw clenched when he saw the blood flowing out from her wounded arm.
"Nancy, why are you so stubborn? There is an air cushion downstairs. Even if Boyd falls down, his life will not be in danger. Why didn't you let go?" It was Nancy who got injured, but he looked more distressed while treating her wound.
Nancy looked at him and said, "Charles, life is more important than my injury. I'm fine."
Without uttering a word, he concentrated on binding up Nancy's wound.
After putting on the bandage, Charles said, "You're seriously injured. You won't go to work tomorrow. Can you rest at home?"
"No."
"What's wrong?" His confused eyes turned to look at her.
"I have an operation tomorrow," said Nancy calmly.
"Well, I respect your decision." Charles helped Nancy to get up and continued, "Let's go home now, okay?"
"Okay." Supporting her injured arm, she stood up and went home with him.
The next morning, Charles didn't wake Nancy up on purpose. He even turned off the alarm clock, because he didn't want to disturb her. She was asleep when he sent the kids to kindergarten, and when he came back, she was still sleeping.
Because he was so worried about Nancy, today's meeting slipped out of his mind.
His phone suddenly rang, and his assistant's name flashed on the screen. "Mr. Fu, the meeting..."
"Cancel it," said Charles without hesitation.
"Yes, Mr. Fu." The assistant shrugged, speechless. Mr. Fu had been in a good mood these days. But who provoked him today?
After the call, Charles went straight to the kitchen to make breakfast.
It was already ten o'clock when Nancy woke up. She jumped out of the bed angrily and rushed to the kitchen. "Charles, why didn't my alarm ring? What happened?"
"I turned it off." His attention was on the food he was preparing.
"I have to go to work. I have an operation!" Her furious eyes followed his every move.
"I asked for a leave for you. You'll do the surgery this afternoon."
"It's unreasonable! I have to go to work. How can the surgery be delayed?" she complained.
"Okay, I'll drive you there after breakfast. If you don't have breakfast, I won't let you go out today!" Charles looked at the stubborn Nancy and took her to the table. "Nancy, how is my cooking?" Charles asked fawningly.
"Well, it looks so much better than you." She couldn't help but get irritated at him for what he did.
"What? This is a... Are you praising me or just trying to piss me off?" His lips curved into a wicked smile.
"Whatever you think." Her stomach grumbled so she sat and wolfed down the food. If she was full, she could've gone to work as soon as possible.
His eyebrows raised as he watched her eat the food he cooked happily. He had never imagined that little things like this could bring him happiness. He was really satisfied.
Feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, Nancy said, "Why are you looking at me? Don't you know me?"
Instead of getting angry, his eyes sparkled when he spoke, "Nancy, tell me, when will we get married?"
Surprised with his sudden question, Nancy choked on her food. Charles was quick enough to give her a glass of water. "I don't have time to think about it. Let's talk about it later!" He thought for a while and nodded.
"I want a home. A home recognized by the law. A family that includes you, Bobby, Nadia and me." His eyes were intensely looking at her.
Nancy was moved by Charles' words.
Her eyes were burning and she felt her heart fluttered. "Charles, you have cooked so many delicious dishes. Hurry up and eat them. They won't taste good if they are cold."
With a satisfied smile, Charles asked, "Can I take it as your love for me?" "You are really good at flattering yourself!" murmured Nancy.
'Tm willing to flatter myself," Charles said with a smile. "By the way, Nancy, I have always wanted to tell you this. Anna looks nice and she seems to care about you. When you are tired, you can ask her to do the surgery for you. We should also give others a chance. We need to trust them. Their experiences will help for their fast growth.
"But I think she..." Nancy frowned and wanted to say something but stopped on a second thought.
"She is what?" He thought that Anna was a competent woman. As a doctor, she needed more experience, so he hoped to give more opportunities to the new comers.
With a shrug, Nancy said, "You can train her, but leave our department alone. I don't trust that girl!"
"Why?" Charles asked in confusion.
Why?
Could Nancy say that Anna hurt her by posting news on the school forum?
She couldn't tell him that, could she?
She didn't have any evidence yet!
But even if she had evidence, what could she do?
But there was one thing she didn't understand. What was her motive for targeting her?
Was it just a competition or was it something else?
Anna was on duty last night, so she should have known what had happened to Boyd. Yes, she should ask Anna
what had happened to him last night.
She felt that there was something wrong with Boyd.
