Chapter 182 Have You Found It Out
"Sir, I don't know what's going on. I always feel that there is someone manipulating this from the dark. It doesn't seem like a simple post out of boredom, but more of like a targeted attack." Confusion was written all over Hiram's face.
Deleting posts was something only a powerful person could do.
Who could it be?
"Can't you find it out?" Charles frowned at him.
'Tm investigating." It was kind of challenging for Hiram to find a lead.
While they were discussing, Charles' phone suddenly rang.
It was Angelina.
"I just read the news about a woman from medical school who gave birth to a child for another man five years ago. What's going on?" The news about this woman sparked her curiosity. She wanted to know who it was.
So, when she saw the news by accident, she immediately called Charles to ask.
"What news? Why didn't I see it?" Because Charles had no intention of telling her more details, he pretended not to know the truth.
"The news about... a woman who gave birth to a baby five years ago," Angelina said. "Hold on, I'll find it for you."
"Okay." His voice was still cold and emotionless.
But when Angelina checked her phone again, she was stunned. The news she just read a while ago was gone now.
"Well, just now..." It was a bit confusing and awkward for Angelina so she called her Frederic for help. "Father, come here and prove to Charles that I saw the news just now,"
she told Frederic.
Instead, he snorted and said coldly, "These are just gossips. Don't believe it."
"Well, Charles, I can't find the news," Angelina said helplessly.
"You must have been mistaken. If you have nothing to do, you can plant flowers. Don't read around on the internet. There are too many rumors and fake news. A simple person like you will be easily fooled," Charles reminded her.
"I... Okay, I was wrong!" Furious and embarrassed, she dropped the call.
She didn't understand why Frederic and Charles insisted that she was mistaken. She wasn't blind! She really saw the news before it disappeared.
It was so strange!
How could she understand the world of business?
Whenever something happened, the business world turned upside down.
"Well, I was certain about what I saw! Why did they keep saying I made a mistake?" she murmured to herself.
"Auntie, what's with the long face? What happened?" It was Joseph who just walked in.
"Nothing. Where have you been?" Frederic asked, looking at him with fiery eyes.
"I'm just playing. What else can I do?" Joseph shrugged. "How about letting me work in the TS Group to help my brother?"
"You don't care about your own company. Why would you meddle in your brother's business? If you have had enough fun here, you can go back early." His expression remained cold.
"No, no, Grandpa. I haven't had enough fun yet. Derrick is in charge of the group there, so I can't get involved in it. Well, I'll go back to my room and have a rest. Bye." After saying that, he went upstairs. Frederic's eyes followed his back, until he disappeared from his sight.
In the meantime, Nancy was in the office when Doris barged in.
"Nancy, look at the news. It came up again!" Doris shouted in surprise.
It disappeared and then appeared again.
"It's not us who deleted it. It's someone else. I can't even get in touch with the owner of the forum. It's really strange." None of them knew who the person behind it was.
Without saying anything, Nancy played with the cup of tea she was holding.
Her mind was a mess, and she didn't know who was making trouble.
Who could it be?
Since she came back, she had never done anything to offend anyone. Who was so intrigued about her to dig into her dark history?
Was it Jessie?
Nancy thought about it for a long time. It seemed that Jessie held a grudge against her, and no one else had crossed her mind.
However, if it really was Jessie, she wouldn't delete it.
The person who helped her delete the post must be close to her.
So, were there two different groups of people doing these?
The more she thought about it, the more her head ached. So, she decided to dismiss it for now.
"Nancy, what should we do about it?" Doris also thought there was something wrong. "Tell me, the woman in the news...was it you? You were... Well...?"
Without thinking, Nancy interrupted, "No, don't think too much, okay? This has nothing to do with me. Go home and take a rest. You are not allowed to tell this to Jay. Do you hear me?"
"You said it wasn't you, but why are you overreacting?" She got no response from Nancy so she gave up and changed the topic. "We have a class reunion. Will you go or not?"
By the look on Nancy's face, Doris figured there was something wrong with her.
If the news really had nothing to do with her, why did it affect her this much?
It didn't make sense, did it?
"Yes, why not?" Nancy agreed.
Even though she wanted to ask more, Doris decided to let it slip for now. "There are still two or three days left. I'll pick you up then."
"Okay." Her voice sounded robotic.
By the way, your foot haven't recovered yet. Let me pick up the children this afternoon."
Seeing her distressed, Doris thought she'd better pick up the children by herself.
"Okay," replied Nancy.
When Doris left, Nancy fell into a trance.
From time to time, she took out her phone to check the news. It came out again.
The news wasn't deleted until she got off work.
"Doctor Nancy, our shift is over. Why are you still sitting here?" Jessie suddenly appeared, beaming at her.
Could it be her?
"Okay, I'm leaving now." Nancy stood up and took off her white gown.
"I heard that your foot was injured. Do you need me to help you? I'm about to go home too."
The more that Jessie treated her right, the more Nancy felt odd.
"No, I can do it myself." Her mind was still not at ease.
"Okay, see you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow," Nancy answered perfunctorily.
"Oh, Mr. Fu, you really are persistent!" Jessie said in a flattering voice.
But Charles didn't even glance at her and went straight into Nancy's office.
Let's go," he commanded.
"Let's go." Perhaps it was because she was too nervous, that when she stepped forward, she suddenly felt a dull pain in her feet. She lost her balance.
She almost fell on the ground. Fortunately, Charles was there to save her. He fell in his arms.
"Why are you so careless? Is there anything bothering you?" A faint smile spread across his face.
"No, I just feel a little pain in my foot!" Her face heated, so she avoided his eyes.
"Well, it's really a good excuse. Be good. I'll hold you." In one swift move, Charles lifted her up and walked out of the office.
