Chapter 181 What The Hell Is Going On
Seeing that Nancy was in a hurry, Charles drove her like a mad man to the hospital. And right after he parked the car, she got out immediately while he followed after her. As expected, Doris was already waiting in the office.
"Nancy, the school forum..." Doris began to say something, but her face changed upon seeing who was behind Nancy. So, with a straight face, she stopped speaking. "What's wrong with the school?" asked Nancy curiously, not minding the sudden change in Doris' aura.
"Aha, nothing, nothing." The latter smiled awkwardly while glancing at Charles with her pair of big eyes.
She just wanted to tell Nancy that it was uncomfortable for her to speak in front of him, so she couldn't get to say it directly.
Lucky for her, Nancy was a smart woman. She immediately understood what Doris meant when she saw the look on her face.
So, she turned to face Charles and said gently, "You can leave now. I know you have some work to do."
Upon hearing this, he sensed that the women were hiding something from him. But since they obviously wouldn't tell him, Charles let out a frown on his lips.
"Okay. I'll pick you up this afternoon. Remember not to run around," he warned, narrowing his eyes at Nancy.
"Okay, I'll wait for you." The latter just flashed a smile, signaling the end of their conversation.
At the same time, Charles cast a scrupulous, long glance at Doris before he left.
"Nancy, look at this..."
After making sure that he had left, Doris immediately clicked on the website of the medical school's forum.
"One student, whose surname is Ning, was suspended from school five years ago. She was hired by a wealthy man to give birth to a child. And after making a lot of money, she went abroad for further study."
As Doris read through the article, a shiver ran down Nancy's spine. Beads of cold sweat formed on her forehead, and she suddenly felt her legs wobbling.
Who else, with the surname Ning, took a break from school five years ago?
Who would reveal her information after all this time?
"You should carefully deal with this matter. I saw it this morning, but I didn't dare to tell Jay. After I sent the children to school, I immediately came out to see you. What should we do?" Doris worriedly informed. Last night, she tucked Bobby and Nadia to bed after playing with them for a while, leaving her alone with Jay in their room.
"Can you give birth to a pigeon pair for me?" Jay shamelessly suggested, obviously referring to Bobby and Nadia.
He even had the guts to grin while his arms were wrapped around her and head against her shoulder. "What are you talking about? Nadia and Bobby are not twins," Doris snorted, slightly pinching his sides. With his big hand caressing her belly, he continued, "Well, they look very similar, don't you think? If I didn't know that Bobby had a different mother, I would think that Nancy gave birth to him. The kids just have an uncanny resemblance."
For a while, Doris was taken aback by what he said. "What?! Stop talking nonsense. That's impossible."
"I was just kidding. Don't take it seriously. But I really hope Bobby was Nancy's. You know, back then, the Fu family hired a woman to give birth to Bobby, and kept it a secret from him. That poor child. I pity him."
"Yes, it's a pity, but I swear that it has nothing to do with Nancy!" Doris said confidently, although deep down, doubt started to conquer her mind.
A woman as strong as Nancy wouldn't do such a ridiculous thing as giving birth to a stranger's child for money.
But Doris forgot that when people were desperate, they 'd bite the knife to survive.
Therefore, when she woke up this morning and accidentally saw the news on the school forum, she was stunned.
The first person she thought of was Nancy while blankly staring at the screen.
So after eating her breakfast in a hurry and driving the kids to the kindergarten, she went straight to Nancy's office.
Doris didn't dare to tell anyone about it, fearing that it would stir a ruckus.
The mere thought of that sent a chill down her spine, so what more if Nancy confirmed it to be true.
"They're talking about you, right?" Doris asked without hesitation and looked at her aggressively.
Nancy was already panicking inside, but she couldn't let it show. So with a fake smile, she replied, "No! Of course, not! How could it be me?"
Upon hearing her friend's answer, Doris heaved a sigh of relief. Then, wiping the sweat off her forehead and she uttered, "Thank goodness, it's not you. If it's really you, I wouldn't know what to do."
"No, that's not me," Nancy said affirmatively, looking straight into her friend's eyes to show her the conviction she summoned.
"Well, whether it's you or not, I think I'd better contact the forum to delete this post," suggested Doris before walking out of Nancy's office.
"Okay." Of course, Nancy also wanted to delete the post. The longer it was posted on the forum, the more trouble it would undoubtedly cause her. Meanwhile, Charles had already come to his office. He then headed straight to his private bathroom and stood under the showerhead.
And even though he was already away from Nancy, her pure and sweet taste kept gushing out.
It was such an addictive feeling for him!
In fact, he really didn't know how he resisted his urge last night.
But in whichever case, Charles recognized that there was no need to hurry. He would have plenty of time to spend more nights with her in the future.
As these thoughts filled his head, he turned on the shower and let the water directly fall on his handsome face. This was the only way for him to extinguish the steam off his body; otherwise, he'd be spending the entire day fantasizing about Nancy.
After a quick shower, he grabbed a bath towel and wrapped around his waist. He then dried his hair and walked out of the bathroom.
The moment he checked his phone, he was notified with a piece of news, so he lazily clicked it.
What he saw was that five years ago in a medical school, a woman whose surname was Ning was suspended for being hired to give birth to a man's child. Everyone wondered which woman with a surname Ning it was.
But then suddenly, Charles narrowed his eyes while a dangerously grim aura filled his face.
'Was it Nancy?' he silently thought. Whether it was her or not, this was still not good news as he knew this would drag her into the mire if he wouldn't get rid of it.
'But where did this news come from?
Was it Nancy who gave birth to my child five years ago?
Could it be...?"
Those speculations circled in his head, causing him to suddenly feel dizzy. So, tightening his jaw, Charles called his assistant. "Hiram?" he said in a sharp voice.
"Mr. Fu..." At this time, the former was having breakfast and hadn't checked the news.
"What is this sudden news?" he asked and sent the link.
Hiram's mind suddenly went blank, aware that something must have happened. Quickly, he put down the food and responded, "Mr. Fu, I'll ask someone to investigate it right now!"
"I'll give you twenty minutes. If you can't handle it, you might as well resign yourself!" Charles' voice thundered over the line. Out of anger, he threw the towel and changed into a handmade European style suit that he hadn't worn before.
And while tidying up his suit, he thought of a possible way to clear this mess.
How could someone expose such a well-kept family secret?
Charles almost lost all his patience as he waited for Hiram's update. And after a couple of minutes, he finally checked his phone and discovered that all the articles had been taken down.
Immediately, he was relieved and could almost breathe for some time. However, just after several minutes, the article was put back online!
What was happening? Who could possibly be doing it?
"Hiram, what's going on?" Hiram was very skilled in dealing with the news. He had, never once, failed to taken them down at Charles' command, but now...
'What the hell is going on?!' Charles gritted his teeth and tightly clasped his fists as he thought that.
