Chapter 41. Find a Way

“Are you alright? Brians seked

My eyes futtered open, and the first thing I saw was her hovering above me

My head says her name, and I felt a growing pense of satisfaction that she had stayed behind for me

“I thought you left with them,” I said, unable to conceal my happiness. Briana still has this soft spot for me. I can feel it every time we are near each other.

The attraction was still there, but more than that, I realized Briana had always been kind to me, even when I was rude to her when she was younger.

I never liked her before, even when she had not done me wrong.

Briana shrugged. “I have to make sure that you are okay from the damage my children caused.”

“They are not just your children. They are our children.”

I saw the stricken look on her face. She immediately got up, but I held her hand while I stood up, too.

Briana struggled with my hold, and I knew she wanted to escape this confrontation, but we had to stop playing hide and seek.

We had to face the fact that we are parents to three adorable children, and I very much want to be a part of their lives.

“They are only mine, Hunter.” She spat dispassionately.

I took a long, indrawn breath.

“Briana, stop lying to me. They are my children.”

This time, I really felt so bad. My children are growing up without knowing me.

I remember all those lost years I could have spent with them if it were not for the bad decisions I made in the past.

Briana did not say anything and only had her head bent down.

Chapter 41 Fit Way

Her chest heaves, and her hands clenched into fists. Her shoulders sagged, too.

Seeing her looking like this made me feel like she was a trapped mouse, and I was the cat who backed her into a comer of no return.

I never wanted her to feel like that.

All I wanted was for her to admit that the children were mine.

“Do you know that I almost lost them twice because of the pain you inflicted?” She hissed.

I closed my eyes. My mouth parted because my nose suddenly felt clogged.

It was not a direct admission, but it will do.

I shook my head and met her gaze when Briana laughed a mirthless laugh.

“Now, you know. So, tell me, how can I entrust my children to someone who almost

killed them?”

She spits out.

My body turned cold.

I could not move.

“It is always easy to say you are sorry, but was that enough to compensate for the pain, the anxiety, and the fear of almost losing them?”

Even when Briana had already walked away from me, I could still hear her words ringing in my ears.

She almost lost the triplets, and that is because of too much emotional pain she suffered in my hands.

I almost caused her to lose the babies.

“Here.” I heard someone speak before a handkerchief was thrust toward me.

I looked at it grudgingly before I realized that my vision was blurry, and my cheeks had been wet with tears.

“I can manage.” I told Marcus Ford and took out my handkerchief from my pocket to wipe the tears away.

After sniffing and wing my nose, I shoved the handkerchief back into my pants

I cannot accept kandness from an enemy, and in my perspective, Marcus Ford is my enemy
