Chapter 83

XANDER

A couple of days had passed and Malia was still suffering badly from the unending pain she was feeling. Each time she tried to sleep, she would scream out and cry for help and it was always the same thing.

“My head hurts. This pain needs to stop!”

I have tried to get a physician to get her some pain relief to see if it would at least help her situation, but it was all in vain.

“I’m sorry, Alpha, but giving her any medicine would affect the child in her womb. Medically, she is completely fine, so I suggest that you call a priest.” Those were the exact words everyone had been saying, and it didn’t look like the pain she was feeling would stop anytime soon.

She paced around the room as she fanned herself. It was evident that she was struggling to get better too. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she pants heavily despite the chilly weather and I feared something might happen to her or the child at this point.

“Maliya…” I breathed out as I was confused about what to do in this situation.

“I need to pour water on my head. It hurts so much…” she cried as she dug her nails into her skin, hurting herself in the process.

“Come here, I will help you,” I muttered as I helped her undress before taking her inside the bathroom.

For someone everyone claimed to be completely fine, her skin was burning and she was shivering at the same time.

“I’m feeling hot, Alpha Xander… I need to go outside,” she cried and I could feel her pain. My heart aches to see her in this situation and all I could think of was how I was going to find a solution to this problem.

I helped her get in pain.

the bathtub and I expected her to relax into the cold water, but as soon as the water touched her body, she screamed out in

“Ahh! My body is burning!” She cried and I sighed.

“Shush, it’s okay, I’m here,I calmed her down and used a towel to wipe her body instead. I gave them a sleeping pill to make her relax since she hadn’t closed her eyes since the headache started, and it seemed to work as she started feeling drowsy.

You will be fine. I will find a cure for whatever this is,I promised as I carried her back to bed.

The pack was still suffering from the plague, so I couldn’t allow anyone to move close to her, nor could I allow her to go outside, which was a little exhausting.

I bet staying in the same place despite how she was feeling was another torture.

I left the room to take a fresh breath outside, but all I could think about was how I was going to stop everything going on.

Alpha,” Lord Williams called me from behind, snapping me out of my truce. I turned back to look at him, only to find him staring at me with a concerned look.

How is she doing?He asked.

“Not good,” I sighed. I don’t want to think back at the words of the three seers, but it doesn’t look like anyone else has a solution to what was happening which was starting to give me a bigger headache.

“How are the people doing? Are there any changes?I asked and Lord Williams shook his head.

“They keep getting worse. Things even got worse within the past two days. They stopped responding to treatments and the victimshealth got worse. Their bodies are now red with rashes but there was even something more strange. All of them have a small cut on their bodies which was not there before, Lord Williams announced and I sighed.

“What is the doctor saying?

It’s nothing like what he has seen before,he finished with a mumble.

“What are we going to do now?I rubbed my temple as I asked.

Alpha, if you don’t think that I’m crossing the line by saying this, I’d suggest that you call the seers back and do what they asked. They are the only

ones who seem to have a solution to our problems,” Lord Williams said.

Although they are the only ones that have provided a solution so far, their solution is nothing but a stupid one if you ask me.

“Alpha…” Lord Williams called out, snapping me out of my truce.

“There is no way I’d resort to that option. Maliya is carrying my child! What would happen to her if I sent her away? What about my unborn child?” I frowned, and he went quiet for a while.

“I understand how you feel, Alpha, but you need to understand that you don’t have an option here. The calamity that is to fall on the Pack would be much if Maliya remains here. I mean, the plague is still here and there is no cure. People are suffering… in pain too, and to make things worse, she is going through all of that when she is heavily pregnant too,” Lord Williams reasoned.

“If you ask me, I think sending her away would do more good than any harm,” he finished.

I went quiet for a while as I kept on thinking about what he said. Madam Rosalie couldn’t stand on her own again and I haven’t even seen her in days. The palace is as silent as a graveyard because almost 2everyone is sick. It was still shocking how the plague hadn’t spread around at this rate because the people injected kept getting worse every day.

“I know that this is a difficult decision, but you need to think about the people too,” Lord Williams said and I knew that I had no choice in this one. “Fine! Send for the seers again. I need to be sure that Maliya will be fine once she leaves this Pack,” I groaned, and he nodded.

I went back into the room to see how Maliya was doing and she was already up and in tears again. She sat up on the bed as she wept bitterly and I just knew that I couldn’t continue to be selfish and leave her in this pain.

“Do something to end this pain,” her voice cracked as she cried. I moved closer to her to embrace her as she wept in my chest.

A few minutes later, a knock resonated through the room, and I excused myself to see who it was when I saw Lord Williams standing with the seers. I turned back to look at Maliya before closing the door.

“Before we proceed to do anything, can you confirm if there is no other solution other than sending Maliya away?I assumed with a frown, and they nodded.

“We wouldn’t lie to you, Alpha. We have been trying to see if there was an alternative way we could solve this misery, but it was all the same. She needs to leave,” the woman spoke up, and the other two agreed with her.

“What will happen to her after I send her away?I asked with a pang in my chest.

“She will get better, and you can be sure that she will have a safe delivery,” the woman assured me again.

“I hope you are not saying this so that I can send her away. Tell me now. Will anything happen to her once she is outside these walls?I asked again.

“I promise you, Alpha, nothing would happen to her. Her health would be restored, and the place would go back to normal, she assured me, and I nodded.

Well then, give her a sleeping pill or whatever. She is in so much pain. Do something to relieve her pain before we send her away,” I ordered. “Sure, but we will need to see her first.”

I took the seers back into the room where Maliya was still groaning out in pain and they began to chant some incantation,

After a few incantations, Maliya finally fell asleep, and she seemed to finally be at peace. I released a sigh I didn’t realize that I was holding when she slept when the seers spoke up.

‘She needs to leave now because if she wakes up here after the incantation we chant, her condition will worsen.

I held her hands for a while, just examining her face before finally nodding. I carried her in a bridal style outside, where Lord Williams was already waiting with a carriage, and I placed her inside gently, making sure not to wake her in the process.

“Be careful with her, I warned the guards that were going with her and they nodded.

I watched the carriage leave until it was no longer in sight and I released a sigh once again. I hope that she will be fine.

I went back inside and Lord Williams rushed over to my side once again. “Alpha Gabriel is here to see you,he announced.

The pack was suffering from a plague, and I didn’t believe coming here was a good idea, but I went to see them anyway. He was here with his daughter once again, and they both stood up to greet me the moment I stepped inside.

“How are you doing, Alpha Xander?” Alpha Gabriel asked and I snapped at him.

“If you haven’t noticed, the Pack is not in good condition, so if you have anything to say, go straight to the point, or you will have to come another time,” I groaned. I was still hurting that I had to send Maliya away and this was certainly not the time to entertain anyone else.

“The Pack is suffering from a plague,” Alpha Gabriel said with a chuckle which was starting to rile me up, but before I could comment, he spoke up. “But I can provide you a cure with that, if you want, of course,” he said.

“A cure? What kind of cure is that and how do you know about a plague that none of my physicians knew anything about?” I asked suspiciously.

“Do you need our help or not?” He asked, and I hated how confident he was.

“What is the cure and what is the clause?” I frowned, knowing that there was no way he was doing it for free.

“It’s simple. I will give you the cure, if only you will be willing to marry my daughter here, Sabrina,” he finished with a grin.
