"Hmm?" David lowered his head, his lips brushing against her cheek. "Caroline, did I say something wrong just now?"
The way he called her name so intimately-she couldn't stand it!
"No... mmph-"
She barely got a word out before David's lips pressed against hers, a fleeting, featherlight kiss.
His eyes held a firm warning.
It was clear-if she dared to say another word, this kiss would be far from innocent.
David had no qualms about pulling her into a deep, passionate kiss right in front of Harper.
It didn't bother him at all.
Caroline got the message loud and clear. So I don't even get the chance to speak now? He's completely stripped me of that right.
What a wasted opportunity. I was so close-so damn close! Just one more word, and I would have said it, divorce.
But in the end... I failed again.
Harper's expression suddenly lit up with realization. "Oh, I see now. I get it. You know, I understand- Caroline is still young, and you're busy managing the company. It makes sense to wait a few years. It's just that I'm eager to have a grandchild soon."
"I understand, mom." David nodded. "That's why we're letting things happen naturally. No pressure, no rush. Who knows? Maybe good news will come sooner than expected."
"Alright, alright, I won't push you two anymore."
Harper chuckled warmly. "David, do you remember what I told you when you and Caroline first got married? I said she was a good girl, that you'd like her one day. And look! Time has proven me right.
Thank goodness I talked you out of making a mistake back then. Just look at you two-so affectionate, so in love!"
"I didn't appreciate Caroline before," David admitted. "But now... I love her more and more. I can't live without her."
Caroline said nothing. Instead, she silently lifted her arm and held it up in front of David. Goosebumps. All
over.
David glanced at it, then suddenly leaned down and pressed a kiss against her arm. Caroline... completely froze. What the heck is he doing?
Gritting her teeth, she decided to throw caution to the wind. Hooking an arm around his neck, she leaned
in and whispered, "David, this was the perfect chance for us to get divorced. And you just let it slip away? Do you seriously want me to keep being your wife?"
"Yes. My wife."

David cut her off. "Did I not just make myself clear to mom? You heard everything I said."
Ha! As if I'd believe that! Love me? Can't live without me? What a load of crap!
He had been so eager to get divorced before. Now, when the opportunity was practically handed to him
on a silver platter, she was even willing to cooperate-and yet he was playing dumb!
"You really want to entangle yourself with me for the rest of your life?" Caroline demanded. "So we're really not getting divorced?"
She narrowed her eyes at him.
"David, don't forget-the most important woman in your heart is Elizabeth! Shouldn't you be rushing to get rid of me so you can finally put her in my place?"
David arched a brow. "And how do you know who the most important woman in my heart is? Did you see it with your own eyes?"
"David, you-"
How could he be so shameless? Caroline forced herself to stay calm.
"I'll ask you one last time. Do you still want this divorce or not?"
"And if we get divorced? And if we don't?"
She wanted to strangle him.
Or better yet-sink her teeth into him.
