Chapter 335

At 2:00 am, the city started to get quieter. In the silence, faint sirens could be heard.

Millie’s body was rigid as she was bound, and Michael, next to her, appeared sleepy. Meanwhile, a few lackeys were playing games and cursing.

She was feeling very uncomfortable. She moved her body, catching the attention of some lackeys who asked, “What are you doing?”

Michael woke up and looked at the time, then at Millle. She frowned and signaled for him to remove the tape.

He was displeased. “I just don’t like kidnapping women. This is so troublesome!” Women were a handful. However, despite this, he went ahead and removed the tape for her.

Michael asked, “What do you want?”

“I feel uncomfortable, replied Millie.

“Could you please allow me to adjust my position?” Her voice was frail and delicate. She felt extremely unwell while being tied up like this.

“Why are you being such a bother? Let me bring you some water.” Michael grumbled as he went to fetch some water. He approached Millie and offered her a straw to drink.

Millie couldn’t help but think that he was quite a rugged yet thoughtful man. After drinking the water, she did feel better. However, with the temperatures dropping in the early morning, she found herself increasingly uncomfortable.

She complained, “If you continue to tie me up like this, I might actually die before someone shows up at

10:00 am.”

Without saying a word, Michael began to put on more layers, silently acknowledging the cold. He also expressed his discontent. “Do you think I want to do this? It’s not easy to make money.”

Millie lowered her head and asked, “Did you hear the sound of sirens echoing through t city?”

Michael scratched his ear and replied, “I didn’t hear that.”

“If the police take you away, you’d be in big trouble,” Millie said calmly.

He grinned and crouched in front of her. Then, he asked, “Are you threatening me?”

Millie watched him and said, “I just wanted to remind you because I thought you were a nice person.”

He burst out laughing. “Thank you.”

Millie shook her head. “You’re welcome. But how about this? I have an idea that won’t only help you make money but also avoid being caught by police?”

He pondered and signaled for her to speak. He had nothing else to do, so he was willing to listen.

Call my friend and tell him something has happened to me. One person stays behind, and the others will leave,” Millie suggested softly.

“If no one shows up at 10:00 am, you may cut this rope.” She glanced back.

She depended on the rope to keep herself safe. If it broke, she would fall. If she were to fall onto the bricks and tiles below, her chances of survival would be almost nonexistent.

“Ms. Caldwell, I know you’re planning something. Beautiful women can be deceitful. Don’t try to trick me and get away with it.” He sneered.

Millie fell silent.

He added, “But I have to warn you. If the police come, I’ll jump with you.”

His smile sent shivers down her spine. From the very moment Millie met him, she perceived a mischievous presence that suggested he wasn’t serious about the idea of kidnapping.

However, as she listened to his words and observed his demeanor at that moment, she could no longer hold onto that belief.

She knew he was serious at that moment. The more playful someone was, the more cruel they became when they attacked.

He knew exactly what he was doing. He was fully aware of his actions and the risks involved.

“Release me, and I’ll ensure your protection. What do you say?” Millie advised sincerely.

“There’s no turning back for me, Ms. Caldwell,” he said with a gentle smile as he patted her cheek,
