Chapter 334

“Mr. Greer, are you okay?” someone asked in a hushed tone.

Winston shook his head as he approached the meeting room. He overheard the police commissioner say, “There are many abandoned buildings in the vicinity. We shall begin our search with the abandoned buildings.

“There’s a possibility that she might have been taken there. Please ensure everyone’s phones are turned on and accessible at all times. The kidnappers might contact us.”

“Abandoned buildings,” Winston repeated softly.

Many buildings in Crestborne were incomplete, and it was known as a dangerous place where kidnappers often go. He heard that people often get killed there. After calling Ell, Winston left the police station and drove away.

Terrence and Julia couldn’t do much at the police station, so the police commissioner urged them to return and rest. Upon exiting, they discovered that Winston was nowhere to be seen.

Julia couldn’t help but chuckle and remark, “Just moments ago, he promised to help us in locating Millie, and now he has vanished.”

“Do you really expect him to help us with anything?” Terrence snorted, not taking Winston seriously.

Julia frowned and said, “Terrence, don’t you think that Millie also needs a partner sometimes?”

“Clearly, this partner is not Winston!”

Julia was silent for a while, and got into the car with Terrence. She said anxiously, “It could’ve been him.”

“Don’t even consider it. Our family is not that lucky.” Terrence sighed deeply and drove home.

“Will she be alright?” Julia was extremely concerned. Her heart had been racing ever since she received the news.

Terrence then realized that he had neglected Julia. He held her hand and shook his head, “Don’t worry. She’ll be fine.”

Julia lowered her head, and tears began to fall. She was truly worried about Millie.

“Don’t inform Dad and Mom about this for now,” said Terrence.

Julia agreed. She knew that she couldn’t tell Arthur and Layla about it, as it would be too much for them. to handle.

The night was seemingly endless. The black Pagani raced down the road, purposeful yet directionless.

In the desolate wilderness, the abandoned warehouse appeared eerily empty. He rushed in, casting a dim flashlight to illuminate the surroundings. “Millie!”

There was no response, only the echo replied. He searched around for Millie, but she was nowhere to be found. Hence, he swiftly moved to a different location. Suddenly, his phone rang. It was Ell calling.

“Mr. Greer, I’ve checked the record. Ms. Caldwell’s last known location was north of Hemlock Street. There are three abandoned buildings and an abandoned factory in that vicinity.”

“Please inform Officer Thompson too. I’ll head to Hemlock Street now,” he said calmly.

Eli replied, “Yes, Mr. Greer. Please be careful.”

After ending the call, Winston wasted no time and quickly headed toward Hemlock Street.

He activated the GPS and headed toward Hemlock Street. The police were also on their way to the same location. The howling night wind added to the tension as he accelerated his car.

Despite attempts to contact Millie, there was no answer. He couldn’t locate her whereabouts as well.

Winston’s grip on the steering wheel gradually tightened. Only then did he realize how nervous he had become after Millie’s disappearance.

Perhaps it was the weight of the promise he had just made to Julia, or maybe it was the fact that Millie was his ex–wife.

He thought about how Millie treated him and reflected on every expression of admiration and hatred when she looked at him. A pang of sorrow gripped his heart.

All he wished for was Millie’s safety.
