Saying Goodbye to My Troubles (Nydia and Mick)

Chapter My Troubles 55

Chapter 55

Mick returned to the hospital.

The frustration in his heart had yet to subside. Instead, it had only grown more intense. Just the thought of Nydia's dismissive attitude toward him infuriated him.

So she didn't want to be a full-time housewife. That could be negotiated. Was there a need to push each other into a corner? Did she really want a divorce and strike out on her own? How laughable!

A girl from a small town with no connections or background in Elipus was hoping to make a name for herself? How could someone who was almost 30 still be so naive?

It was driving him mad.

He slammed his fist hard against the wall, his knuckles threatening to bleed.

Mona caught up to him, completely ignoring Ted who was jogging to keep up behind them.

Ted, still a child and not fully recovered from his illness, coughed as he walked. His face had gone pale, but no one cared. It was as if he were an unwanted child.

Ted had deliberately slowed his steps, but Mona had already shed into the ward, showing no

concern for the boy.

Inside the ward, Mona gasped and quickly grabbed Mick's hand.

"Mick, calm down. I believe Nydia didn't mean it. She's just throwing a little tantrum. She's not trying to humiliate you on purpose."

Her words only made Nydia seem all the more unreasonable.

The pent-up frustrations in Mick's heart erupted like a volcano. "She really thinks she's something, doesn't she?"

"Mick, don't be mad. Nydia is still your wife. You can talk things out with her later. The main

issue now is Mr. Barton Senior."

Mona had taken Nydia's place at the event earlier that day, and now the internet was buzzing with gossip articles analyzing her relationship with Mick. With that, she might as well strike while the iron was hot.

If Mick took her to meet influential figures in the industry, her status would rise even further.

Hearing that, Mick gradually calmed down, and the hostility in his demeanor began to dissipate.

"Mick, let the nurses take care of Ted. You should visit Mr. Barton Senior. Buck is your best friend. If he needs your help..."

He nodded in agreement. "Good thing you reminded me."

Having Mona around always made him feel at ease. His heart would settle when she was nearby.

"Go get changed. We'll go together," he said.

She looked surprised and flattered. "I... I can go too?"

"Why not? You're my friend. Buck will naturally accept you."

Mona shyly lowered her head, but her heart sank with disappointment.

"Just... a friend?" she thought to herself.

Homer was wheeled into the operating room, but even with the foreign object in his blood vessel located, the surgery remained daunting.

The object was near the heart, and Homer's advanced age made the procedure extremely risky.

Any mistake could mean this national treasure of a meu.spert wouldn't survive the operation. No one dared to bear that responsibility.

"Do you guys still remember? It was a resident doctor who first noticed Mr. Barton Senior's

condition."

Are you suggesting we let that doctor perform the surgery?"

"That's outrageous! A mere resident doctor couldn't possibly handle such a risky procedure!"

"I know she can't do it, but that's exactly why we should let her try."

"What do you mean?"

"We can't afford to take the blame if something goes wrong. She's just a small-time resident with no background. If things go south, she's the perfect scapegoat." The room fell into a deathly silence.
