Saying Goodbye to My Troubles (Nydia and Mick)

Chapter My Troubles 31

Chapter 31

"Are you sure?" Mick asked as he moved the remaining fries out of Ted's reach just as Ted devoured another drumstick.

Ted reached out eagerly for the fries. "Of course I'm sure! I don't want any of that bland food. I just want fries. Give me those fries!" Mick chuckled softly and tossed him the fries. Then, he stepped out of the ward and dialed Nydia's number with a borrowed phone.

That phone rang a few times before she picked up. Her voice sounded tired. "Hello, who's this?

"Nydia, what's the point? Do you think one meal will make Ted take your side?" Mick's eyes. filled with mockery.

Nydia was in the middle of jotting down a patient's records when she paused. "If he doesn't want to eat it, tell the delivery guy to return it."

Her bland tone caught Mick off guard. He was momentarily speechless before erupting in anger. "You've gotten good at your tactics lately. Is this some sort of reverse psychology?"

She shot back in irritation. "Don't overthink. Who has the energy to entertain a lunatic barking all day?"

"You're still as ungrateful as ever!" He snapped.

"Ungrateful for what? The only thing I've gotten good at is spotting scums, and you happen

to be one of them."

"Nydia!"

"Careful not to grind your teeth too hard. You might crush them, and you'll lisp worse when you speak. You're disgusting already."

"It seems you have no intention of coming back to the Wilcher residence, do you?"

"I have a place of my own. Why would I want to live in a doghouse?

Mick's veins bulged in anger as he hurled the phone against the wall. It shattered into pieces and abruptly cut the call off.

The nurse who'd lent him the phone was entirely speechless. The fuck? Could these crazy people not harm her when they fought?

Mick fumingly stormed back into the room. None dared challenge him as they were all intimidated by the sight of his overwhelming fury that could set the hospital on fire.

The nurse turned to Royce and demanded compensation. She eventually received monetary

restitution for the damage.

After Nydia sorted out the medical records, she began inputting them into the system. It was a massive workload accumulated from the day she'd taken off, so she had to work overtime to catch up. Her frustration had been similar to the grievances of a ghost, but after cursing Mick out, she felt refreshed. Indeed, there was no better cure for stress than venting out against a toxic man.

Later in the day, Nelson arrived. He saw her swamped with work and sat down quietly to begin helping her.

His efficiency was impressive, and thanks to him, Nydia finished her task and avoided working overtime.

"You're a genius, Nelson!" Beaming with joy, Nydia saved the data and uploaded it to her

email before shutting down her computer. It was all done in such a swift motion that even she was amazed.

Nelson smiled. "I've done it often enough to develop a few shortcuts."

She gave him a thumbs-up. "You do so much work and still manage to maintain your temper. You deserved to be named the doctor of the year!

His smile deepened as he waved off the praise. "You're exaggerating."

Then, he voiced the purpose of his visit. "About that day at the amusement park..."
