Chapter 112
Chapter 112
After seeing Andrew off, Elizabeth returned to her office to review Annie’s medical records.
She did not believe that Annie’s behavior was simply due to a diet or binge eating. There must be another reason that has yet
to be uncovered.
Elizabeth spent the entire morning cooped up in her oflice, combing through piles of information and documents.
During lunchtime, Eva couldn’t take it anymore during lunchtime and pushed open the door to Elizabeth’s office.
“Are you trying to become an immortal?” Eva teased, placing a plate of food on Elizabeth’s desk. She playfully covered the computer screen with her hands and added, “Nothing is more important than taking a break to eat. Hurry up and have your
lunch!”
Elizabeth rubbed her tired eyes and stretched, her appetite suppressed by the weight of her thoughts. “Tm not hungry at the moment, she replied.
Eva leaned over Elizabeth’s desk, her eyes scanning the computer screen. “What kind of illness could be so serious?” she asked with a furrowed brow. “Gluttony? That doesn’t sound right. We don’t have any patients with that diagnosis, do we?”
“Annie, Elizabeth replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She leaned back in her chair, staring blankly at the computer screen. “Do you have any ideas?” she asked Eva, desperation creeping into her tone. She recounted Annie’s worrying. behavior, hoping for a solution to the problem.
“I’m not entirely sure,” Eva shook her head. “But I have a friend who’s an expert in this field. Perhaps he can give us some insight.
“He is coming back in a few days. If you’re not in a rush, I can schedule a meeting with him.”
“When is he returning? I can’t wait for more than a week,” Elizabeth asked eagerly, her eyes lighting up at the prospect of getting help.
“In the next three to five days, Eva replied, then looked at the anxious Elizabeth and pushed the lunch over. “Eat first. I’ll go back and help you contact them.
“We’ll try to schedule a meeting with him when he’s back, and we can share Annie’s medical records with him and get his advice.”
“Thank you so much! This is amazing news!” Elizabeth exclaimed with excitement. She stood up and hugged Eva tightly. jumping up and down in pure joy.
“Oh my,” Eva chuckled helplessly as Elizabeth shook with excitement. She gently patted Elizabeth’s head and teased, “Acting like a kid again, huh? But I have to admit. It suits you!”
“See how you always pretend to be mature? I forgot you’re only 20 years old.”
Upon hearing this, Elizabeth quickly let go of Eva and smiled awkwardly, urging her to contact the expert as soon as possible.
Eva’s acquaintance returned a day earlier than anticipated, and the pair managed to schedule a meeting at noon on the third day.
Eva looked at Elizabeth, who was holding Annie’s medical record, and playfully poked her cheek as she reminded her, “Don’t be so serious. I told him that I’d treat him to lunch and ask for a favor. Let’s cat first, okay?”
“Alright,” Elizabeth replied stoically and nodded in agreement.
She was too nervous.
While it had only been three days, Annie’s condition had worsened significantly.
Annie had collapsed in the bathroom the previous night and had to be taken to the hospital in the middle of the night.
Now, this acquaintance was Annie’s lifeline. So how could Elizabeth not be nervous?
Eva also empathized with Elizabeth’s nerves, and after giving her a gentle reminder, she led them to the private room she had reserved.
Despite arriving 15 minutes earlier than the agreed time, the ladies were surprised to find someone already occupying the reserved private room.
“Simont Always the first one to arrive. Long time no see, did you miss me?” Eva said, clicking her tongue playfully.
“Yeah, Simon replied. His response was simple, which contrasted starkly with Eva’s enthusiastic greeting.
Despite his lack of enthusiasm, Simon’s good looks made up for it, and it didn’t come across as rude.
Simon’s light brown eyes were perfectly complemented by his extremely fair skin, while his soft hair danced with the wind, gently ruffling around his face.

However, this messiness added some groundedness to his overly ethereal appearance, turning him from a white–robed celestial into a scholar painting by the window.
Elizabeth was immediately smitten by his good looks.
As he stood in front of Elizabeth, Simon’s luscious hair glistened under the lights, radiating a healthy glow that caught. everyone’s eye. His charismatic aura and stunning physique were a breath of fresh air.
“Hi, Simon greeted Elizabeth with a warm smile and extended his hand for a handshake, bringing her back to the present
moment.
“Hello, I’m Elizabeth Hayes, Eva’s junior,” Elizabeth said with an awkward smile and shook his hand before quickly letting
- go.
Elizabeth was in awe of individuals who possessed such style and charisma, and she couldn’t help but silently swoon at the sight of Simon. “He was born to be a psychologist, she thought to herself. “His unique style, natural charisma, and calming tone would make it effortless for anyone to open up to him.”
As Elizabeth was lost in her admiration for Simon’s style and charisma, Simon took a moment to quietly observe her.
While Simon was well aware of his strengths, he did not particularly enjoy drawing attention to them. He had noticed that even someone as confident as Eva would show an overly surprised expression and even a covetous look upon first seeing
him.
However, Elizabeth’s reaction was different. Despite being initially surprised, her expression quickly transformed into one of admiration, as if she was in the presence of an esteemed elder.
Eva noticed the awkward tension between Simon and Elizabeth and quickly intervened. “Don’t just stand there,” she urged, motioning them to take a seat. Eva pushed Simon towards the table and pulled out a chair for Elizabeth before handing them the menu as she asked, “What would you like to it?
“Simon, you’ve been overseas for quite some time. Do you miss food from our country?”
After all, people who grew up in countries with a strong food culture tend to bond over meals and drinks.
Elizabeth Hayes felt less nervous after the meal.
After reviewing Annie’s medical records, Simon’s expression became serious, and he advised, “Based on what you’ve told. me, I think it would be best if we went to her home to assess the situation.”
“I don’t think that’s possible, Elizabeth replied, shaking her head awkwardly. “Annie’s family situation is complicated. If we go over, it may only add to her psychological stress.”
However, Simon insisted. “But that is the most effective way.”
“We can’t do that. I would still want to continue her original treatment plan,” Elizabeth responded adamantly.
“First, let’s focus on finding a way to get Annie to open up to us,” Elizabeth suggested. “Then, we can help her build strong emotional regulation and coping skills by teaching her the tools she needs to protect herself from external stressors. I believe that this is the best approach”
Hearing that, Simon gazed at Elizabeth with admiration and extended his hand towards her, “You are truly remarkable.
“If you had agreed to the home visit, it would have shown that you prioritize your interests and reputation over your patient’s health and well–being. In that case, I would not have cooperated with you.”
Elizabeth cast a perplexed gaze toward Simon.
“Why are you staring off into space?” Eva asked, nudging Elizabeth. “Hurry, shake his hands. Simon has agreed to work with you as your advisor.”
Simon was a highly capable individual who came from a well–respected family, yet he often found himself feeling lonely. He rarely worked alongside others, let alone served as someone’s assistant.
However, there was something about Elizabeth that piqued his interest.
The chance to work with Simon could undoubtedly enhance Elizabeth’s resume and unlock new opportunities for her, and it would be a shame to let such a golden opportunity slip by.
After snapping out of her daze, Elizabeth rose to her feet and hesitantly extended her hand towards Simon’s, giving it a brief but firm shake before letting go. With a small smile, she said. “Thank you for agreeing to help me.”
“You’re welcome,” Simon smiled with satisfaction.
As Simon observed Elizabeth, he could not help but think, “She’s self–reliant, self–restrained, and determined. A lady with her own goals and bottom line. I truly admire people like her.”
