Chapter 11
Elizabeth knew that this wasn’t up for discussion with her.
The next day, the two of them drove to the city hall and quickly completed the procedures.
“Is this considered getting married?”
Elizabeth stood at the door with her hands holding the marriage license, feeling a bit confused. She had never thought that simply signing a document could make two people a family.
“What is it, then? Come on. Now that we’re married, I should buy you a wedding ring.”
Andrew led Elizabeth to a jewelry store in a mall while she was still in a daze. When she came to her senses again, Andrew asked her if she was satisfied with the ring on her finger.
“Are you kidding me?”
The huge diamond shed a brilliant light, and she was almost momentarily dazzled.
“How could an everyday wedding ring be this luxurious?” she wondered. She was afraid of being robbed as soon as she stepped outside.
Andrew frowned. “Women like this kind of ring, don’t they?”
Elizabeth was speechless.
“Well, that’s very naive of you,” she thought.
Elizabeth took it off and handed it to the salesgirl.
“Can I have one without diamonds?”
The salesgirl’s face visibly fell, but she still fulfilled the request.
Elizabeth put it on and quite liked it.
For an everyday ring, simplicity was the key.
“Why are you buying this trash, Elizabeth?”
A voice filled with sarcasm came from beside Elizabeth. She turned and found it was Katherine.
Katherine happened to be shopping and saw Elizabeth and Andrew in the jewelry store, so she walked right in.
Katherine’s eyes were fixed on Andrew, but he didn’t even glance at her.
Katherine walked over and glanced at the ring on Elizabeth’s finger. She sneered, “You’re so small–minded, Elizabeth. How could you choose such a piece of trash for a wedding ring?” She stared at the huge diamond ring in the display case, her eyes flashing with contempt as she spoke.
Elizabeth didn’t even spare Katherine and her companion a glance. She took off the ring and handed it to the salesgirl.
“I’ll order two according to our sizes,” she said calmly.
Katherine and her companion were completely ignored, which made her so angry that she pointed to an emerald ring and said, “Swipe the card and pay for all the rings we’re buying
Katherine then threw out her credit card with great pride.
“Oh, that’s very nice of you!” Elizabeth was modest in her words but slick in her actions. She pointed at the huge diamond ring she had tried on earlier and said. “The ring I tried on earlier just happens to be my size. Please wrap it up for me.”
Katherine’s smug expression vanished in an instant, and her pupils flashed with panic. She didn’t have enough money in her account to buy such a huge diamond ring.
If it hadn’t been for her wish to catch Andrew’s attention, how could she possibly buy something for Elizabeth?
The salesgirl’s eyes lit up, and she quickly took Katherine’s credit card to process the payment.
“You’re playing me, right?”
Katherine slammed her handbag down on the counter. Her balance was definitely not enough, but she had already handed over her card. She was sure that Elizabeth was doing this on purpose to humiliate her.
The salesgirl cautiously returned the card to Katherine.
“Miss… your payment has failed.”
Elizabeth laughed, knowing that Katherine didn’t have enough money in her account. She even sighed deeply on purpose. “Oh, I thought you could buy it for me, Kathy. It turns out you’re just doing this for our amusement… Oh, sorry, our

She deliberately called Katherine by her nickname with a hint of teasing and mockery, causing Katherine’s face to turn red with anger.
Katherine bit her lip and clenched her fists, leaving a few nail marks on her handbag.
She hated Elizabeth, but unfortunately, Andrew was present at the moment.
“Well, Elizabeth, I was willing to buy the ring for you as a blessing. If you don’t appreciate it, that’s fine. But why do you have to take advantage of me?”
Katherine looked as if she was hurt and stole a glance at Andrew. However, Andrew remained indifferent and focused his attention on his palm. Surprisingly, Elizabeth scratched his palm, causing him to furrow his brows in discomfort due to the itch.
“I’d suggest you be practical, Elizabeth. Don’t expect others to give you something that you cannot afford to buy yourself.”
Katherine decided to teach Elizabeth a lesson, not wanting to lose face in front of Andrew. After all, she was powerless against his attractiveness.
Elizabeth turned her head and threw herself into Andrew’s arms. She rubbed her head against his chest and looked up at him, saying flirtatiously, “Honey, I really like the diamond ring you just picked out for me.”
Katherine felt goosebumps all over her body.
Andrew readily handed his card to the salesgirl. “Wrap it up for her,” he said.
The salesgirl successfully swiped the card on the credit card machine, straightened her back, and then bent down to hand the card back to Andrew.
“Please wait a moment, sir. I’ll pack it up for you and your wife,” she said.
“Well, my husband may not come from a wealthy family, but we still have enough money to buy a diamond ring”
Elizabeth said while leaning on Andrew’s shoulder, smiling at Katherine.
The salesgirl handed the wrapped ring box to Elizabeth. Holding the bag with one hand and Andrew’s hand with the other, she brushed past Katherine and her companion.
“Don’t celebrate yet, Elizabeth,” Katherine warned Elizabeth in a stern voice.
As they left the mall, Andrew withdrew his hand from Elizabeth’s grip and kept a distance of 1.5 feet between them.
“You really went to great lengths just to make her look bad,” Andrew said with a hint of sarcasm in his eyes.
Elizabeth tilted her head and asked him. “Do you think I’m using you?”
Andrew didn’t say anything, but his cold gaze had already given the answer away.
Elizabeth took a step forward and stood in front of him.
“That woman is not worthy of talking about the Hayes family. It’s just a ring. Even if the Hayes family is not that rich anymore, you can buy eight or even 10 diamond rings like that if you want. She’s just putting on airs.”
Her words were all in defense of the Hayes family, and Andrew’s expression cased slightly.
Elizabeth seized the opportunity and stood face–to–face with him on tiptoe, her eyes fixed on him.
“And I really like the ring you picked out for me.”
After hearing these words, Andrew felt his heart skip a beat, and his gaze became unfocused.
Suddenly coming to his senses, he pushed her away with a wave of his hand and continued walking forward.
Elizabeth, who stayed behind, watched him leave and smirked.
“You’re just like a little boy.”
Later that night, Elizabeth suddenly began to wonder if today was their wedding night since they had already obtained their marriage license.
When Andrew came out of the shower and saw Elizabeth, who had wrapped herself up like a cocoon in bed, he immediately understood what she was doing this for.
He sneered.
“I won’t touch you. I just hope you don’t come onto me again tonight and then blame me for it.”
Elizabeth watched Andrew warily, making sure that he had no ulterior motives. After a while, she loosened the covers and gave him half of them.
“That’s good, then. Although we’re already married, we need to keep things separate.”
Andrew pulled the covers and lay down.
“Humph.”
Andrew sneered and turned his back to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth stared at the back of his head. “Aren’t you afraid of women?”
Andrew suddenly turned around, scrutinizing her face for a long time before asking in response, “Are you saying that you’re
not a woman?”
