He was stunned for a moment. “Stella?”
“What are you doing here?” Stella was surprised to see him as well.
Bernard smiled wryly. “Brian broke one of my ribs last time at Yolvencrest Estate, so I ended up in the hospital.”
Stella was taken aback. She didn’t expect Brian to be so violent, but Bernard deserved it. She didn’t feel sorry for him at all.
“Are you here to see Mrs. Foley?” Bernard asked her.
Stella nodded. “How did you know?”
“I’m here to see her, too. We’re in the same hospital, so I thought I’d come up and check on her. Bernard had heard that Sharon was going to have surgery, so he came to see her.
“Go ahead, then. I’ll leave first,” Stella said. She was about to enter the elevator, but Bernard suddenly pressed the elevator button. He wanted to apologize to her, but he couldn’t bring himself to say it.
“Is there something else?” Stella frowned at him from Inside the elevator.
“Nothing.”
“Why did you press the elevator button, then?” Stella was a bit exasperated.
Bernard tried to speak but couldn’t find the words. Stella was getting annoyed. “Let go of the button, Mr.
Roach.”
Looking embarrassed, Bernard finally released it. “Forget it. Bye.” He didn’t feel like apologizing anymore.
Stella felt that he was being inexplicable. She pressed the button to close the elevator door. The elevator
doors closed, and Bernard’s expression softened.
As Stella stepped out of the hospital gates, the wind tousled her long hair. Just then, she saw that Yoel
hadn’t left yet.
He was leaning against his car in a long coat, waiting for her. Surprised, Stella approached him. “Why haven’t you left yet, Mr. Perkins?”
Yoel replied with a smile, “You seemed a bit off when you came, so I was worried you might get into trouble. I waited here in case you needed help.”
Stella was truly amazed. “I’m sorry for making you wait here, Mr. Perkins.” He had waited for at least an hour and a half. Stella felt somewhat guilty.
Yoel chuckled. “If you feel sorry, then buy me dinner.”
Stella did want to treat him to dinner, but she wasn’t in the mood today. She sighed softly. “Sorry, Mr. Perkins. I have something to do today. I’ll treat you to dinner another day.”
“Sure.” Yoel smiled and opened the car door. “I can see you’re still not in a good mood. Let me take you
home.”
“Okay, thank you.” She was indeed feeling down, so she got into Yoel’s car.
Along the way, Yoel received a call from Sandra reminding him to leave for Mavonia tonight at 11:00 pm. Stella turned to him. “Are you going on a business trip abroad tonight?”
“Yeah, headquarters summoned me back.” Yoel was the president of Nas Group in Andrunian, while his elder brother, Harry Perkins, managed the company’s headquarters in Mavonia.
Yelena had told him before that Yoel and Harry were half–brothers with a lukewarm relationship bordering
on competition.
