Our Journey Back To Love

Chapter 140

Chapter 140

Yoel was cool about it. He took the quartz pendant from around his neck and produced a gift box. “I can return the quartz pendant to you, but I hope you’ll accept my return gift.”

“What?” Stella was puzzled. “That was a birthday gift for you. Why a return gift?”

“I don’t feel comfortable accepting gifts without giving one in return,” Yoel said as he opened his gift box. Inside sat a diamond necklace, which was clearly meant for a woman

“You gave me a quartz pendant the other night, so I picked out a return gift. You won’t refuse it, right?” he said smoothly.

Stella couldn’t refuse, so she accepted the gift. “Alright, we’ll exchange gifts. Thank you, Mr. Perkins.”

She got the quartz pendant back but had to give away an opal pendant. Yet, in the end, she received a diamond necklace in return.

If she had known that Yoel was so generous, she would’ve bought a more expensive one. They continued

eating and discussing work. Just then, Stella’s phone rang on the table.

After a glance, she saw Brian’s name. She knew there must be news about Sharon. Stella excused herself and stepped outside to answer the call. “Hello, Brian?”

“Are you not at home?” Brian had just arrived home and didn’t see her.

“No, I got bored at home and went out. How’s Sharon?”

“There’s an issue. She needs surgery in three days.” Brian sounded tired. “Don’t tell Grandpa about this.”

Alfred was old, and Brian didn’t want to worry him

“Okay.” Stella nodded. “Brian, you got up so early today Get some rest at home. I’ll be back soon.”

“Alright,” Brian replied. As he lay down on the bed, he quickly fell asleep.

Stella returned to the restaurant. Just as she was going to say goodbye to Yoel, her phone rang again.

It was Sharon. Startled, Stella answered, “Hello, Sharon?”

“Stella, where are you?” Sharon sounded weak

“I’m out right now.”

Sharon asked, “Can you come to the hospital? I want to see you.”

“Sure,” Stella agreed. But after hanging up, she felt a growing sense of unease.

She walked to her table and apologized to Yoel. “Sorry, Mr. Perkins, my mother–in–law needs me. I have to

She grabbed her bag, looking somewhat lost as she walked. Yoel was worried about her, so he followed. her out of the restaurant and grabbed her hand.

“Alright.” Stella nodded. “Thank you.”

She wasn’t in the right state of mind to drive safely herself. Yoel ended up driving her to the hospital.

At the hospital entrance, Stella thanked him. “Thank you, Mr. Perkins, I’ll treat you to a meal sometime.”

Go now,” he said

At the VIP ward’s door, Stella took a deep breath before turning the handle. As the door opened, she saw Jessica, who was holding a jug. She smiled at Stella.

Stella, you’re here.”

“Where’s Sharon?”

“Mrs. Foley is inside. You can go in.” Jessica walked out with the jug.
