Chapter 104

Stella struggled desperately to pry Brian’s hands off her

Anger flashed in his eyes as he pressed her body against the back of the couch, closing the gap between

them.

“B–Brian…” Stella stiffened, her breath coming in short gasps.

She could feel him, and it terrified her.

“You’re insane! Bernard is still on the phone…” She was overwhelmed with shame and anger. Her breathing was ragged.

“Don’t do this…” Her voice almost broke into a sob.

Brian leaned close to her ear, his voice low and intense. Tell him you’re here on your own will.”

“No,” she refused, horrified at the thought of saying it.

But her refusal only made Brian press against her more Insistently.

Stella bit her lip and asked, “What do you want from me?”

“Tell him you’re here on your own will. Play along with me, and I’ll let you go,” Brian said as he gently.

touched her.

Stella was trapped. She finally spoke into the phone, “Bernard, it’s just a little marital spat. Don’t worry. Go

home.”

Stella’s voice was sweet and it carried an unintended Intimacy through the phone, making Bernard think

the worst.

Bernard was stunned.

“I’ll hang up then, Stella said with a trembling voice.

Brian, satisfied, kissed her flushed cheek before releasing her. He grabbed the phone and sat on the

couch. “Hear that, Bernard? She likes it.”

Stella’s face burned with humiliation.

Brian’s shameless remarks had completely humiliated her.

Stella was at her wit’s end. She got up to leave.

Brian stopped her again. It mode Stella jump in fright. “Stay here tonight.”

“No way!” Stella refused, not wanting to risk him losing control again.

Brian’s expression turned cold. “If you won’t stay, then pay me back for that handbag.”

Stella couldn’t believe her ears. She turned to face him “I found that bag! It’s mine now.”

“I have proof of purchase. It’s an expensive item, and if you don’t return it, I could sue you”  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Brian raised his hand. 40 thousand dollars, thank you!

“What?” Stella’s eyes widened. “I thought it was 30 thousand dollars?”

“Did you think someone without the right status or connection could get it for that price? There are hidden costs.” Brian gave her a pointed look. “Why else would Jessica buy a second–hand bag from you? 40 thousand is generous. Anyone else and I’d ask for 50 thousand.”

Stella was stunned. “Wasn’t that handbag a gift from a friend?”

“Does it matter? You sold my bag, and now I’m holding you accountable.”

Stella was floored.

She did some quick mental math. She had sold it for 27 thousand dollars, but now she owed Brian 40

thousand. That meant a 13 thousand–dollar loss,

Feeling defeated, Stella asked, “Can I buy the bag back from Jessica?”

“Would you sell something you got at a bargain?”

Stella had no reply. She took a deep breath. “I don’t have that kind of money right now.”

“Then stay here and work off your debt.”

“Work as what?”

“A maid.”

Stella was dumbfounded. “But we’re divorced!”

“Divorced or work as a maid.”

Stella was so exasperated she almost choked. “Brian, are you insane? Dragging your ex–wife back to work as a maid–what will your new wife think?”
