Chapter Gud Wife 351
Chapter 0351
Chapter 0351
Maximus leaned back in his chair, letting out a deep breathi "Do you know that inheritance actually exists?"
"I don't need it! I only want one thing. I want to work for the company. I know it's not in a great situation, but I want to see how I can invest money into it and bring it back to what it once was.
Maximus stared at him in astonishment. This young man continued to surprise him. He was everything Maximus had hoped Lucius would be. The thought repeated in his mind.
"What do you mean, invest money?"
"Maximus, I'm good at what I do. I've built my fortune, but my goal here is the company. I'm not here to take anything from anyone-I just want to be where my father once was."
"You want to work at Palmer Group? In what capacity?"
"Whatever you offer me. I'm not demanding-I just want to feel part of what belonged to my father." "You're a Palmer! You don't need permission to work there I can give you your share. But first, I think I need to explain some things. I want to be clear that I only know part of the story. Today, Marcus Bartz and Mary Preston are the ones who could give you the other part."
Alden was surprised by this statement. "What could Maximus possibly need to tell me?" Maximus took a sip of his drink before continuing, shifting the conversation to Serenity.
"Serenity isn't your sister. She's my daughter..." Maximus said, his tone nostalgic.
"I heard you say that earlier, but Peter told everyone in Galea that Mary was expecting his child," Alden replied, trying to piece the story together.
"That part was only known to Mary and your late father..." Maximus said, exhaling smoke from his cigarette.
"So, it's just me then," Alden said wistfully.
"I'm afraid so, Alden. But today, you're the best thing that could have happened. Knowing you exist is the greatest gift. In the end, not everything is lost. You remind me so much of your father. Without hesitation, I can say- you're a Palmer. There's no doubt about that. I don't know how things will unfold now, but it's only right for you to receive the share that belongs to you."
"I have to admit, I'm disappointed to learn I'm Peter's only child. For almost seven years, I believed Serenity was my sister. I was so excited to meet her, and when I finally saw her today, I was thrilled." "Alden, I'm sorry, but you're Peter's only child. That doesnt mean you're alone. You have more cousins. Serenity, though not your sister, is my eldest daughter. Then there's Laura, my other daughter-she's lovely. And Paul and Maurice-they're not here now, but I'll bring them soon so you can meet them. If you accept us as your family, you and your mother will never be alone."
Alden hadn't expected this twist, but he didn't mind becoming part of the Palmer family. It would allow him to walk the same halls his father once had, and to him, that was deeply important.
"When can I meet your children?"
"Laura lives nearby. You can meet her today. My other two children are farther away, but I'll bring them soon. It's time I take full responsibility for them."
Alden took a deep breath. "I want to meet them, Maximus But first, I need to show you something-it's about Peter's death."
Chapter 0351
"What do you know about that?"
"I didn't know anything. The real question is: What's been hidden? Give me a moment," Alden said, pulling out his phone and calling Ignatius. "Ignatius, can you copy the investigation files about his wife and bring me a USB?"
Maximus watched as Alden's demeanor shifted from friendly to cold.
"Uncle, you need to look at the information Ignatius will bring. After that, tell me what we'll do with its contents
and more importantly, what we'll do about the person mentioned in it."
Minutes later, Ignatius arrived and handed Maximus the US Alden had requested.
"Uncle, I have to leave now. Here's my card. We can arrange another time for me to meet your children. For now, I just want you to review what's on this USB. Afterward, I'll accept whatever decision you make," Alden said before standing and leaving with Ignatius.
Maximus stared at the USB in his hand, uncertain of its contents but knowing it had to be significant. He paid the bill and headed home, ready to uncover what Alden had entrusted to him.
