Mate ...s ?!?!

Chapter Chapter Forty-Eight

[Jaxson’s POV]

I had been completely stunned when I saw Rain barrel into Cilla before ripping her apart. He had been thrown across the room when Jace and I had come busting in, but had come back to take down the crazed she-Wolf. I was impressed at his ability to just tear into the woman but I was horrified to know that if Rain or Orion was pushed too far, they would not show any mercy to those who had crossed them. I had actually gotten a very cold chill from them when Rain had growled after he had killed Cilla. It had been like he was daring her to get back up and defy him.

Granted he had only done the exact thing I would have done, but it was still chilling to see my Rain act like that. ‘Guess they beat us to it.’ Lysander thought with a soft chuckle. He was aroused by the sight of our little Omega ripping into the horrible beast of a she-Wolf.

‘He deserved that kill. She made his life a living nightmare.’ I replied as I shifted, letting Lysander take over most of the control. Thankfully by the time Jace and I had shifted there was a cleanup crew just outside the door. I’m even more grateful for my twin now. He knew there would be a mess so he had already called pop and he had sent a cleaning crew in for us. I sent him a thankful look and he blushed, nodding his head to me.

We needed to make sure our little Mate was still ok, so Jace and I went to clean him up, but Rain pulled back from us, worry in his eyes. ‘Don’t. Her blood is tainted. It’s already starting to burn.’ Rain said trying to wipe his muzzle clean a little. We could see how uncomfortable he was just standing there with all Cilla’s blood on him. We needed to get him cleaned up.

‘Pop said to go clean up, while he has someone take care of this mess.’ Lysander said getting Rain’s ears to instantly flatten. He didn’t like that thought. He was afraid he was about to get in trouble I could see it in his eyes.

Thankfully Guren stepped in, ‘Don’t worry Rain-drop. Cilla was no longer a part of this Pack and was attacking you. We were right here to do just that but you beat us to it.’ Guren thought as we lead Rain to the forest.

He followed us quietly to a small lake before jumping in without hesitation. He came up a few times, his snout now clean of Cilla’s infected blood, before diving fully back under the water. The last time he went under it took him a while to come back up. We were already heading into the water when Orion popped up, an evil bratty grin on his face. He had shifted under the water!! That was so dangerous!!!

“Come play with me.” Orion called as he swam further out towards the center.

Jace and I shifted quickly and raced after our little Mate. We caught him between us and he stilled a little.

“I was so angry with her. Not just for myself but for the Moon Goddess. Cilla had been given a gift and she abused it. Now my real mother will handle her and I can be free of that she-devil.” Orion said as he leaned against Jace, pulling me closer.

“Yes, my little star. You are free of her but how did that make you feel? Like really feel.” Jace questioned getting a glare from me.

“Relieved. Actually relieved. I am not a violent person by nature and I doubt I would have felt this way had it been someone else.” Orion answered truthfully. “I shouldn’t be happy Cilla is gone but I feel so much better without her alive.” he added, nuzzling against my chest.

“We share that sentiment my little star.” I said as he looked up at me, allowing me to do my own nuzzling on his collarbone. “One less monster in this world. One less monster to worry about trying to take your life.” I added as I grasped both him and Jace.

“I just wish I could have figured out why Cilla did what she did. Why she felt she had to betray her Pack and abuse such a gift that it drove her to such a twisted fate.” Jace said quietly

“My mother, the real one, told me that she had sent three of her sons to Cilla in the hopes of mending her sadness. Cilla’s mother had been awful to her growing up because Cilla was born sterile until the Goddess, my biological mother, granted her the ability to carry children. Julius and Gabrial were given to Cilla to tame her spirit. However, at some point Cilla laid with a Demon, producing Kinder and Kelani. I was supposed to keep them in check while Julius and Gabrial kept Cilla in line.” Orion said his voice soft and filled with sadness.

“A Demon?” I questioned in shock. “I didn’t think there were any Demons left after the Great War.” I added as I thought about the information from Orion.

“Yes. Their numbers dropped, drastically, but there are still small pockets of their kind. Not all of them are bad, some just wanted to live their lives in peace.” Orion replied as his eyes kept flashing in color. Rain was the one with the information and he was telling Orion about it.

I smiled a little, I was in such awe of my little Mate, my beautiful Orion was beyond anything I could have ever dreamed up. Jace and I had been so lost before coming back home. I still had a lot to work on but I knew I would be able to do anything as long as I had both of my Mates.

Suddenly a flash came out of nowhere and I felt a pinch in my neck. I reached up to pull a silver dart out of my neck. SHIT!!!!

I was starting to fall asleep when I remembered the three of us were in the lake!! I looked over to see Orion passed out and Jace struggling to stay awake.

I quickly grabbed Orion and took off for the shore, making sure Jace was following. He had grabbed onto my waist and I pulled both of my Mate’s to safety. I was searching for the person who had just tranqued us but whatever had been in that dart was strong and I was losing the fight to stay awake.

My senses had dulled right when I needed them the most, but I was able to pull us all out of the water and onto dry land so, that was something. Jace got up onto the sand and turned to help me carry Orion when another sting hit me.

DAMN IT!!!

I pulled the second dart out of my neck before watching my world go dark.
