Chapter Chapter Eleven
[Jaxson’s POV]
Orion was a fucking WHITE WOLF. A PURE WHITE WOLF!!!!!
Jace and I had been in our room when Cassie knocked on our door. Well, more like pounded like a mad woman. She had told us that Orion had shut her out by shifting. We had looked at her like she had grown another head until she explained that only Orion and his Wolf could fully block another from their mind. However, she did NOT tell us he was a fucking RARE PURE WHITE WOLF!!!
Normally, any companion Wolf can get through to another. However, according to Cassie the only person Orion’s Wolf actually speaks to is Orion. She doesn’t even know the poor things name. Jace and I had rushed to help, knowing our own Wolves would be the best shot any of us had. Lysander and Guren always had a way with words. We were his Mates and that had to count somehow.
We went into the room to see a White Wolf the size of a regular house dog curled up in a corner of the room, shaking and grumbling like a scared puppy. He was so small it broke my heart to see him like this. Orion and his Wolf should not be so scared and I could practically smell the fear in the air.
‘Let us try. Maybe we can reach him.’ Lysander thought calmly in my head. I nodded and began to shift letting Lysander take control as I knew Jace was letting Guren take control. We trusted them to be level-headed enough for this. Hopefully.
Once in our Wolf bodies, Lysander and Guren moved until they were basically sandwiching Orion. Lysander gently mentally pawed at Orion’s mind. We could feel the mental block they had up, not letting anyone into their minds to even try and talk to them at all. After a few moments of gently pawing at his mind, whining and patiently waiting for Orion to let us in and we were finally able to talk to our little Mates Wolf. Hoping he would at least talk to us now.
‘Pup, please tell us what wrong.’ Lysander asked softly so as not to frighten our Mate with a new voice. We were already so much bigger than he was.
‘We are scared,’ came the soft reply we knew was coming, but this was not a voice we recognized. It was obvious Orion and his Wolf were scared. Our little Mate was a shaking little blob of fur at the moment. Guren gently nudged Orion’s side hoping to get him to look at us.
'Of what, sweet one? We cannot help you with your fears if you do not tell us what’s going on.’ Guren questioned, unable to remain fully quiet. We let them do this for a reason and it was time we let them know how much trust we have in them. Our Wolves are just as much a part of us as our arms and legs and for Jace and I we had to learn that as Alphas it works much differently. We must always work in sync with each other or not at all.
‘I am scared of being left behind because of being so small. I am afraid that Cilla will come and take me from here like she did with mommy Cassie.’ our little Mate whimpered out, making us growl a little. I’ll be damned if I let that bitch take him again. That she-Wolf was never getting a hand on him again. She was going to pay for her actions.
‘No is going to take you from here, pup. We are here to protect you now. That’s why you are here to begin with.’ Lysander thought, still trying to stay calm but it was beginning to dawn on us that we were not talking to Orion but his Wolf. The Wolf that never speaks unless it’s to his human. The voice that was not Orion’s was his Wolf’s and he was talking to US!!! We were trying to remain calm so they didn’t shut us out again. Orion’s Wolf seemed to be very suspicious of everything around them and we didn’t want them to hide away again.
They are opening up to us!!! I could hear the whoops of joy in Jace and Guren’s mind but they made no sign of showing their enthusiasm. It was hard for us because Orion had pushed away from us the very moment we had met, but we both just sat there with him. Trying to make sense of his emotions with him. His Wolf was trying to act normally so that meant so was Orion. They were just unused to someone wanting to hear their side.
‘She always comes for me. I am her worst mistake and she can’t let people know I’m hers.’ came the small admission that made me and my twin both see red. How could anyone see their child as a mistake?! We would never treat our pups that way!! No pup should ever be treated like a mistake. They should all be treated as the gifts that they are. The Werewolf kind was slowly fading into nothing and every pup was a gift for the future of our kind. They should all be treated as such and nothing less.
‘You are not a mistake to us, little one. You are the most precious thing in the world to us.’ Guren said hoping to chase some of our Mates fears away. Both Lysander and Guren moved so that we were now facing our little White Omega Wolf. He was beautiful in every way and perfect for us. To us this little white Wolf was everything and so much more.
‘I am afraid of you leaving me if you tire of me. I … Orion doesn’t function like a regular person and I couldn’t heal us the right way.’ he whispered before he finally turned around to face us. His eyes growing wide as he looked at us.
His admission broke my heart. How could anyone ever tire of this little angel and his human?! Orion and his Wolf were small but they had a big heart, they were far more powerful that way than most. At the moment though he was still staring at us with a bit of an open mouth. It was like he froze. Like an old computer game with low quality graphics. He looked stuck. It was cute but it quickly had us worried when he just didn’t move. I don’t even think the little thing was breathing.
‘Pup?’ I questioned in my dominant tone when he sat there frozen, still not knowing the Wolf’s name and not wanting to offend my Mate. Not knowing his Wolf’s name could prove difficult.
The little Wolf shook its head and looked up at me and Lysander, tilting his head curiously. ‘Why do you call me pup, like momma Cassie?’ he asked as he seemed to gain a little more life to him. He pulled himself up to actually sit properly in front of us.
‘You haven’t told us your name little one. We know who Orion is but who are you?’ Lysander replied a light chuckle in his deep voice, gently pawing at his shoulder.
‘I am Rain.’ Orion’s Wolf replied, the embarrassment clear in his voice. A Wolf’s name was not something everyone was privy to in a Pack. If someone knew another’s Wolf that meant they were trusted. It was just that simple. Or their Parents, biologically. A Wolf’s name was sacred to each person. It could be used for evil purposes in the wrong hands.
Rain was trusting us enough to give us his name. He was letting us get that much closer to them. He was giving us that part of himself to keep safe. We would do just that.
‘Well Rain, do you want to tell us what had you so frozen a second ago?’ Guren asked, his voice gentle as we both moved a little closer. Wanting to make him feel a little more comfortable around us.
Rain hesitated for a second, not sure if he should tell us, ‘Rion and I have dreamed of you. We never knew it was you though.’ Rain thought making us smile brightly at him. That was unexpected but we liked that he had dreamt of us.
‘You’ve dreamed of us?’ Guren asked in a hopeful kind of way. They liked the fact they had dreamed of us too.
‘Sort of, it’s always fuzzy and we can only see you this way. We see the two of you standing tall in the light. You had come to take us away from all the pain.’ Rain thought his thought trail a little unclear, as if he was in a dazed state of mind. Like he was trying to remember their dream
Lysander, however, never missed a beat ‘That’s right. We have come to save you from your parents and keep you away from them. Are you at least going to let us?’ he said getting a little Wolfish giggle from Rain and Orion. The sound like heavenly music to our ears.
Rain pawed Lysander’s nose, pushing it playfully ‘I just don’t want the two of you to be hard on Orion. I can take the abusive words and punches but I don’t think Orion can take much more.’ he whimpered softly as he settled back down. Licking absently at my nose then Guren’s. Nuzzling us both, trying not to move his body too much for some reason.
We looked at him and it was our turn to tilt our heads in curiosity. ‘The two of you seem to have the wrong impression of the four of us. What you overheard that night Rain, all those years ago, was because I was being forgotten about by my twin here and it was because we needed you. Jace and I were very lost and had no one to just listen to us. You never should have heard all of that.’ Guren said, his voice filled with sadness, as he tried to explain why he and Jace had said words that had hurt our Mate before we had even gotten the chance to prove to him, we weren’t complete assholes.
Rain put his tiny paw on Guren’s nose, ‘We will give you both the chance to prove you didn’t mean it.’ he said getting us both to jump to our paws, bouncing our heads together. Rain giggled and shuffled away from us a little, as he tried to stand up. He was trying to avoid our larger paws but we were more than paying attention to where he was. There was no way we were going to risk hurting him.
That’s when the two of us noticed the problem our Mate faced. We saw why Rain had tried to stay in one place since we had come into the room. Rain’s back leg, looked like it was crippled. Broken beyond any type of repair. Almost mangled by a wild animal.
Lysander and Guren stopped immediately, ‘Rain! What happened!’ we all shout getting him to flinch a little. Echo effect and everything.
Rain’s ears flattened on his head as he tried to back away from us a little, ‘I’m healing it. Don’t worry ok.’ Rain said getting whimpers from us as we moved closer and laid back on the floor so he would too. He should not be trying to stand on that leg.
‘Sweet one that is not what we asked. What happened?’ Guren questioned his voice deadpanned. He may be the softer Twin but he could still be a hard ass when he needed to be.
Rain flinched again as he settled back on the floor, moving so he was more comfortable. ‘Kinder’s Wolf, came after me.’ he replied softly his eyes downcast and boring holes into the floor. He was expecting us to yell at him, but it wasn’t going to happen. We were never going to yell at him for something he didn’t do.
I had to control the growl in my throat, ‘When did this happen sweetheart?’ Lysander asked softly. Jace and I knew they were both so angry it was hard to control their anger but we all knew that if we showed any type of hostility Rain and Orion would not trust us. They would shut us out again and we would be lost again.
Rain tilted his head, thinking. God he was so fucking cute. ‘I think it was about a week ago, now.’ he replied as he tried to make himself smaller against our much bigger forms. He was so afraid we were going to lash out at him it made my insides clench in pain.
Guren and Lysander looked at each other in complete shock. That leg should not look like that a week later. It should have healed by now, regardless of him being an Omega. The only way Rain’s healing would be slowed was if the two were not fed regularly. That would mean they not only practically tortured him but starved him as well.
Suddenly the sound of a low rumbling alerted us to our suspicions. ‘Um... what is today?’ Rain asked us a little suddenly. His head had popped up a little shocked. A sudden thought occurring to him.
’Tuesday, love. Why do you ask?” Guren replied as he nuzzled the side of Rain’s head. Happy the little Wolf was letting him be so affectionate.
Rain jumped to his feet, he looked over to the nightstand, a panicked look in his eyes, ‘Crap, I missed breakfast again.’ he whimpered softly before laying back down to curl in on himself. A defeated sigh escaping him as he flopped his head down again.
‘Little one if you are hungry, we will be more than happy to get you food.’ Lysander said nudging him with a slight whimper in his throat. We needed to get him to see that he could freely eat now.
‘I usually get all my food at school. If I don’t make it in time I don’t eat. It’s all right, I’ll be ok.’ Rain said as he looked up at us with a smile in his eyes. It was like he was used to being hungry. Well, not anymore.
‘Sweetie, that’s not it works here.’ Guren said as he stood and tugged at Rain’s scruff to get him to his paws. Making sure to be careful of his mangled leg.
‘That’s right. If you are hungry, we go get you food.’ Lysander said as we walked out of the room with him. Guren mostly carrying him. Rain’s leg really needed medical attention and soon.
“Guren set the pup down.” came our dads deep voice as he came up the stairs with Cassie behind him. A worried look in her eyes.
We both whimpered a little before Guren set Rain on his paws. Once on his paws Rain quickly hid behind Guren’s front leg, his ears flat on his head. He did not want anyone to see him.
He could see Cassie and automatically thought she was angry with him. Cassie dropped to her knees and held her arms out for the little pup, her eyes soft and gentle as they pleaded for him to come to her. Rain whimpered and hugged Guren’s leg but we weren’t going to have any of that. We were with him to keep him safe and Cassie was family.
Lysander pushed our little Mate out from under Guren gently, and in front of us. ‘Don’t push him too much. He is hungry and we thought we could get him some food.’ Lysander thought on the common link.
Cassie just waited for Rain to come to her but when we just stood there and he did not move, her expression fell and her shoulders slumped. Dad put his hand on her shoulder and she stood up, sniffling a little. “I’m all right. I knew he wouldn’t want to come but I had to try.” she said to us before looking down at Rain. “I’m not angry with you baby boy. You are momma Cassie’s whole world and I worry about you. Will you at least let me make you something to eat?” she said pleading with the Omega. “I’ll even make your favorite if momma Scar will let me.” she added, getting Rain’s tail to start wagging excitedly, as she turned to go back down the stairs. The idea of food obviously made him happy.
Rain yipped happily, nipping at Guren’s leg, pushing him to go forward. Guren chuckled and let Rain scamper off behind Cassie. It was sad to watch because of his half eaten back leg, but our boy got to where he was going. ‘He is going to be the death of us with all that cuteness of his.’ Guren thought getting me and Lysander to chuckle in agreement.
‘We will need to be extra careful then because I want to be around for a long time to watch that cute little ass of his.’ Lysander said getting Guren to push us playfully.
‘Do you think they will tell us why they think Orion’s brain damage could possibly make us not want to be around him?’ Guren asked as we followed our Mate into the kitchen where our mother was busily cooking. Cassie had come in behind her to whisper and get a quick nod from our mom and her to scamper away.
“Ok boys, settle down and I will get to making something delicious for you. Are you staying as my Wolfy pup?” Cassie said looking at Rain/Orion curiously.
Rain whimpered and shuffled backward until he bumped into me, getting a shocked squeak from him. ‘It’s all right. She knows that you are trying to adjust.’ Lysander said nuzzling Rain affectionately. Rain nuzzled us back, a soft hum in his chest.
‘I-I don’t want to go away. I like being with you two.’ Rain said whimpering as he tried to bury his entire body into my chest. Trying to disappear into my much bigger form so no one could see him anymore.
‘Shh, Rain. You will always be with us now. We are not going to leave you or make you go away from us.’ Lysander thought licking the top of Rain’s head hoping to get him away from our chest a little so he would look at us. ‘To us Rain you are everything we could ever ask for and we could never leave you or make you leave us.’ Lysander said nuzzling Rain, the force of his affection pushing the little Omega back so that we could look at him. We needed him to actually look at us, he needed to understand we were never leaving him.
‘Orion is scared you will leave because of his injury making him like a puppy again.’ Rain whimpered as he visibly flinched at his own words. Like he just got yelled at for saying it or even he was afraid to really tell us the truth.
We glanced up at Jace/Guren a look of confusion on our faces. ‘How is Orion like a puppy?’ Guren asked gently. We all needed to understand what Rain meant.
Rain answered us with a whimper before he began backing up into the kitchen wall. Lysander and I were not going to let the only one who could explain the actual issue to us sneak away. He moved to stand above Rain, sinking down to squish him under us. There was only so much all of us could take and this secret was not going to be one of them.
‘No sneaking away, cutie.’ Lysander whispered, playfully nipping at his little ear getting a giggle from Rain as he squirmed under us trying to free himself. ‘Please Rain. You are the only one that will talk to us.’ we whimpered softly, moving off of him, mostly, keeping him between our forelegs. We needed him to really give us an answer this time.
Guren came to sit in front of us, blocking Rain in with his paws around mine. ‘We are your Mates, Rain. The three of us may not know a lot about each other but Lysander, Jace, Jaxson and myself already cannot live without you. We would do anything to help you with this but you have to let us in, you have to tell us why you feel this way or we can’t help.’ Guren thought logically, his mind soft and caring as he nuzzled Rain affectionately. The need to touch Rain already there for us.
Rain looked up at us, then at the floor. It took him a few moments and we figured he was arguing with Orion about all of this and how scared they were about letting others in because of the next words that came from him. They were filled with fear but 100% truthful.
Rain looked at us, tears in his beautiful eyes, ‘I want to know you too, but this is not a simple problem. I want to love you with all my being, and give you everything I can. Orion and I have been beaten for 5years periodically but the food wasn’t always allowed unless we are at that school place. I’m not allowed out, ever. I am not worthy to be seen. Three years ago, our biological mother came home late at night smelling of another Wolf. One that was not our father. It confused us; we are still confused. We had gotten up to clean and cook for breakfast because it was Saturday, she saw me in the kitchen and we had seen her sneaking in. Orion blocked me out and somehow refused to defend himself from her by letting me in. I am not as strong as the two of you, I cannot fight my Human. At least not in this for some reason. He had somehow stopped us from shifting so I could protect us as she dragged us outside, to the backyard. She hit Orion in the head with the garden shovel and we dropped. The next thing I remember is waking up in the yard still bleeding. I couldn’t be me but I had control and I took us to mommy Cassie. I had to figure out what was wrong so that I could fix it but the Wolf that gave us birth didn’t want that. I haven’t been able to help us. Because of her attack Orion has moments where his mind is that of a puppy. He is still Orion but he is a child. That 18 years turns into 3years.’ Rain explained softly, tears filling his eyes as he looked between us and then to the floor. Like his hope of being loved was gone after he explained everything to us.
It all made sense now. That’s what Cassie meant. That’s what had happened in the kitchen. Orion’s mind flipped. Cassie saw it and took control like only a mother could. Now I understood their relationship far better. Cassie had been their friend and probably one of the only ones to treat them nicely. When Orion was hurt, Rain took them to Cassie for help sensing that she would be able to do so. Probably feeling like she was the only person who could keep him safe.
There were so many pieces falling into place but that was still only the top part of the puzzle. We needed to fill in the rest to help our little Mate. We needed to know everything Rain could tell us. ‘Why would that make us want to leave you? It is just one more thing the three of us will share as Mates. I could never love you or Orion any less. We will obviously need to learn how to take better care of you when those moments happen but that is nothing we can’t handle.’ Lysander thought, a Wolfish purr rumbling in our chest, as he nuzzled Rain softly.
‘I don’t want it to be just you saying that. I want you to experience one of his tantrums for yourself. We are not normal for an Omega. We don’t know why we are so different or what makes us so different from everyone else but we just are.’ Rain replied to us, sadness in his mind as he let us comfort him. There was something he couldn’t explain with words and we could see it in his eyes.
‘We are not going anywhere; we are here for good.’ Lysander said seriously, nudging Rain seriously.
‘You are different, but you are unique.’ Guren added before we were suddenly interrupted by a loud banging sound at the front door. Causing us all to come to a sharp attention.
Rain whimpered and tried to bury himself under Guren. I on the other hand stood, letting our twin handle his fear for the moment. Looking up I could see that we were alone in the massive kitchen, smells of chicken coming from the oven. Where did everyone go? They must have left us to settle things between us but I was not going to let anyone inside this house.
Suddenly, I heard voices from the front and knew dad had answered the door. I peeked my head around the corner and growled. Making everyone turn to face me in my Wolf Form. Lysander had let me take over again and I was pissed off at who had just walked through the front door of my home.
Orion’s mother stood in front of his dad; a seething look on her face as she glared at everyone in front of her. Her eyes searching the house frantically.
“Where is Kinder!!” she shouted her voice filled with rage.
She didn’t even care about Orion, all she cared about was her poster boy. Well, this lady was about to get a rude fuckin awakening. She had broken more than one Law and if she so much as breathed in Orion’s direction, I was going to take her head for my wall.
