Chapter 6
Chapter 6
“Someone will take her home.” Before Audrey could say anything, Tyler reached out and pulled her toward the exit.
As they walked side by side out of Dreamwood toward the car, Audrey heard Tyler ask, “When did you learn it?”
“Learn what?” she asked, confused.
“Drinking, I mean.”
Audrey paused for a moment. Although she often hung out with her friends, she had never touched alcohol before. The first time she had a drink was when the Griffin family was on the verge of bankruptcy. Her parents had deceived her into attending a dinner where she was expected to drink with a group of men. She was treated as nothing but a tool to please them..
Those people kept pouring her glasses of wine, leaving her with no room to refuse.
Her parents were among them, encouraging her to drink…
Thinking about what happened afterward, Audrey’s expression turned gloomy. “I forgot,” she responded casually, not wanting to dwell on those memories.
Tyler noticed her change in expression but didn’t ask further. “Shall I take you home?”
Thinking about what happened tonight, Audrey stopped and looked at Tyler, asking at question that didn’t quite accept his offer. “Are we really going to get married?”
“Why would I meet your parents? Just for fun?”
Audrey stared at Tyler for a few seconds before speaking seriously. “Tyler, are you looking for someone to marry, or are you looking for someone to avoid those blind. dates arranged by your family?”
“Does it make a difference?”
“If you’re looking for someone to marry, then I’m clearly not suitable.” She paused for a moment. “If you’re looking for someone to appease your family, it doesn’t necessarily have to be me. We both know we’re not compatible. So why would you choose me over someone else…”
“Audrey Griffin. Tyler interrupted her with a stern voice. “What do you take me for?” “I…” Audrey started to stammer.
“The person I’m going on a blind date with is you. The person who met my parents,

today is also you. Who do you expect me to marry? Your sister?” Tyler’s tone carried a
hint of anger as he continued, “After all these years, why have you not learned anything
at all?”
Audrey was taken aback by Tyler’s outburst. Instantly, all the emotions that had been building up inside her, along with the alcohol from tonight, surged up. “I haven’t learned anything at all? Why don’t you go find someone who has? I rejected this blind date, but you insisted on meeting my parents. Now you blame me for not learning anything, huh?”
Tyler’s face slightly darkened. “I told you, I did this to get back at you.”
“Then why did you go easy on me just now? They were targeting me. Shouldn’t you have been satisfied with it?”
Tyler remained silent.
“Mr. Russell.” At that moment, Tyler’s assistant, David Murphy, got out of the car.
Tyler reached out and pulled Audrey toward him. “Get in the car. I’ll take you home.”
Still angry, Audrey shook off Tyler’s hand. “Who told you I wanted to go with you? I don’t need your help. Stop being so presumptuous.”
“You want to go with me,” Tyler didn’t mind and directly pulled her into the car.
Audrey was about to struggle when Tyler pressed her against his chest. “Don’t move.”
Suddenly feeling dizzy, Audrey felt like the alcohol was just hitting her. She started throwing punches and kicks at Tyler. “Why did you go easy on me just now? Why did you stop me from drinking? Why did you…
Tyler pressed his l*ps tightly against Audrey’s. The rest of her words were stuck in her throat. At that moment, she felt like the delayed intoxication hit her even harder, making her disoriented and unable to distinguish reality from illusion.
“Audrey Griffin, let me tell you, I’m no longer the one I used to be. If you don’t behave yourself, I’ll teach you a lesson. After releasing her, Tyler sternly warned her before instructing David to start the car.
Audrey remained in the same position until the car stopped in front of the Griffin family’s house. Only then did she realize what had happened. She glared fiercely at Tyler, wanting to say something but hesitated. In the end, she didn’t say anything. She simply got out of the car and walked away without even closing the door.
Watching Audrey’s retreating figure, Tyler squinted his eyes and asked David in a low voice, “How did the investigation go?”

David replied, “The reason for the Griffin family’s bankruptcy is due to borrowing from loan sharks. They intended to invest, but it all went downhill. The interest kept piling up until it became impossible to repay.”
“No other reasons?”
“None.” David thought of something and changed the subject. “However, Miss Amelia owns a seaside villa worth over a million dollars.”
Tyler let out a cold snort at the mention, muttering to himself, “She just won’t admit that she hasn’t learned anything.”
He then asked, “Anything else?”
David quickly responded, “When the Griffin family was on the verge of bankruptcy, Joseph forced Miss Griffin to accompany a group of businessmen for drinks, hoping to secure an investment. However, these people were only interested in Miss Griffin. She drank a lot, but no investment was made.”
Listening to that, Tyler remembered Audrey’s reaction when he asked her when she started drinking. His face darkened.
“Which companies were involved?”
“Crestmark and Vanguard.”
Tyler closed the car door and instructed, “Bring me the information on those two companies to my office tomorrow morning.”
Because of the k*ss, Audrey felt completely dazed. She was sure she wasn’t so drunk to the point of losing consciousness, but she also felt more disoriented than the first time she was forced to drink until she vomited, making it hard for her to distinguish reality. from illusion.
Once inside the house, her tense b*dy finally relaxed. She leaned weakly against the door, her mind filled with the image of Tyler k*ssing her just moments ago.
“How did you come back alone? Where’s your sister?” Emma’s voice brought Audrey back to reality.
She frowned and straightened up as she entered the living room. “I don’t know.”
“What’s with the attitude of yours?” Emma raised her voice.
Audrey was about to speak when the door behind her was pushed open again. Amelia walked in with an angry, expression on her face. She shouted at Audrey, “What do you mean? There were so many people, and you just left on your own? Leaving me with a group of men? What were you thinking, Audrey?”

“What?” Emma’s face turned sour upon hearing this. “How could you leave your sister alone? What if something happened?”
Audrey’s mind was still foggy, but being yelled at by both of them cleared her up a bit. She chuckled self–deprecatingly. “Back then, when you and Dad left me with a of strangers, I didn’t see you so worried about something happening to me.”

Perhaps Audrey’s words hit a nerve with Emma. She raised her hand and slapped Audrey in the face. “How dare you bring up that matter? If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t have ended up bankrupt like this.”
“Is it my fault that things turned out like this?” Audrey’s grievances began to rise. “If I went to accompany them, they were supposed to invest? Is that what you mean?”
“But un
didn’t go to accompany them, did you?” Amelia sneered. “If
you had gone to accompany them back then, who knows, our family might not have gone bankrupt.”
“Why didn’t you go then?” Audrey coldly looked at Amelia. “Since you want to be the good person, the savior, why didn’t you go accompany them back then?”
“Mom, look at her,” Amelia complained, linking arms with Emma. She said in a coquettish voice, “If she marries into the Russell family with this kind of attitude and offends them, our family will never have a chance to rise again.”
