Chapter Making 560

Chapter 560

Cedric, upon seeing Leland and Darius, didn’t show much surprise.

He had recognized Leland and Darius earlier when he heard the coughs emanating from the forest.

Little did he expect that these two were secretly tailing him.

They were the ones Gilmore trusted the most..

So the discovery of being tailed by Leland and Darius left Cedric visibly shaken.

However, he was no naive individual, and he quickly regained his composure.

He gazed at the two of them in front of the cabin and inquired. “Mr. Gardper and Mr. Abbott, I didn’t expect that you all came here too,

“What brings you here in the dead of night to the rear mountainside?”

Leland grinned and retorted. “That’s a question you should be asking yourself, Mr. Lopez.”

Cedric maintained a nonchalant expression and replied, “Me! I came to my birdcage to check on my pigeons,

“Let me be frank with you, Vice Sect Masters. I don’t have many hobbies, but raising pigeons happens to be one of my greatest pleasures.”

Leland wore a mocking expression and said, “Raising pigeons? How come it seems like someone wants to release carrier pigeons to send secret messages to certain individuals!”

Cedric’s face feigned surprise as he responded, “Sending secret messages to certain individuals? Mr. Gardner, what exactly are you insinuating?”

Darius, unable to tolerate this charade any longer, cut in. “Mr. Lopez, you needn’t pretend to be oblivious.

“You just released dozens of carrier pigeons. Wasn’t it to send secret messages to the Dragonspire Mountains major sects”

Cedric immediately protested. “Mr. Abbott, you’ve got it all wrong.

“I was genuinely releasing my pigeons. These pigeons I raise come from exotic lands, very different from the usual carrier pigeons in Eldoria.

“They are known as night pigeons, creatures of the night. I just released them to hunt for food.

“Vice Sect Masters, I never thought you would both mistakenly believe I was sending secret messages to the Dragonspire Mountains‘ major sects.”

Leland and Darius remained unfazed by his explanation.

Night pigeons?

Creatures of the night?

Just released them to hunt for food?

Deland and Darius weren’t toddlers, so how would they fall for Cedric’s nonsense?

Leland responded coldly, “Cedric, you claim you’re not sending secret messages to the Dragonspire Mountains‘ major sects, right? Very well, you can explain that to Mr. Reed when we meet him.”

At that, Cedric’s expression underwent a noticeable change.

He stared at Leland but continued to parry, saying, “Mr. Gardner, it’s quite late now. Isn’t it inappropriate to disturb Mr. Reed at this hour!

“Moreover, Mr. Gardner, why do you think letting out night pigeons for food means I’m sending secret messages to the Dragonspire Mountains major sects?

“And why would I even need to do that?”

Leland chuckled. “If it weren’t for tonight and your willingness to share the Secret Map’s location with Mr. Reed, I might not have thought this way.

“However, your openness about the Secret Map’s whereabouts to Mr. Reed has made me more certain that the carrier pigeons you released were indeed carrying secret messages to the Dragonspire Mountains major sects.

“If my guess is correct, the secret messages you’ve sent to the Dragonspire Mountains major sects undoubtedly include the news that Mr. Reed plans to take down the four major sect masters, aiming to seize your Secret Map, with plans to salvage it as early as tomorrow.

“Consequently, the Dragonspire Mountains major sects will march under the banner of justice, claiming to rid the land of these villains for the four major sects, all the while coming to attack Sunsbury’s Dragon Sect just to rob the Secret Map.

“In this way, you can take advantage of the chaos, reclaiming the four major sects. Am I right?”

Cedric was left in utter astonishment, his expression reflecting his shock.

He couldn’t help but be taken aback by Leland’s words.

It was as if Leland knew every detail of their plan, which involved his father and others.

For Cedric, this was nothing short of terrifying.

He hastily swore, pledging with sincerity, “Mr. Gardner, I am unwaveringly loyal to Mr. Reed, with no ulterior motives.

“If I ever betray him, may I suffer the wrath of the heavens and meet an untimely demise.”

Leland smirked, saying, “No need for oaths. You’ll soon meet a gruesome end.”

He then gazed at Cedric, asking, “Are you going to surrender willingly, or do we need to take action?”

Cedric, full of indignation, responded, “Mr. Gardner, I am innocent. I am wholeheartedly devoted to Mr. Reed. You can’t treat me like this.”

Leland sneered, saying, “So you refuse to cooperate. We’ll have to take matters into our own hands.”

With that, he looked to several martialists surrounding the cabin and ordered, ‘Seize him!”

“Yes, Mr. Leland” several martialists responded before attacking he cabin like lightning

Meanwhile, in the distant forest, Gilmore observed the situation and realized that Leland and Darius had discovered Cedric’s plot.

That’s why they showed up at the cabin on the rear mountainside in the dead of night.

Gilmore understood that Leland and Darius were more than capable of handling Cedric

Therefore, he left discreetly, disappearing into the woods and returning to the palaces of Sunsbury’s Dragon Sect

After returning to

s own living quarters approximately an hour later, he heard footsteps approaching outside the villa

He knew that Leland and Darius had returned.

Sure enough, after a while, their voices echoed outside the villa, saying, “Mr. Reed, it’s Leland and Darius. We apologize for disturbing you so late at night, but we have important news to report,”

At that moment, Gilmore had changed out of his night attire, wearing regular clothing and calmly sipping coffee in the living room

“Come in,” he called out from inside.

Leland and Darius outside the villa exchanged surprised glances

Why did it seem like Mr. Reed hadn’t gone to bed yet?

nup of their men entered the villa.

And so, Leland. Darius, and a group

Gilmore watched as Leland, Darius, and two other martialists escorted the severely bruised Cedric into the villa.

It was clear that Cedric had been defeated by Leland and Darius in the cabin on the rear mountainside.

Feigning surprise, Gilmore looked at Leland and Darius, then painted at Cedric, asking, “Vice Sect Masters, what on earth is going on here?”

Leland explained, “Mr. Reed, we captured Cedric in the rear mountains after he released dozens of carrier pigeons. It seems he was sending secret messages to the Dragonspire Mountains‘ other sects with ill intentions toward Sunsbury’s Dragon Sect

“So, we brought him to you, Mr. Reed.”

Cedric, with a bruised and swollen face, seemed exceedingly agitated, yet he appeared unable to speak or move,

Gilmore knew that Leland and the others had sealed Cedric’s acupoints.

Gilmore looked at Leland and Darius and said, “Release Cedric’s acupoints. He didn’t betray me; set him free.”

Leland and Darius looked surprised to hear that.

The two of them quickly realized the situation and addressed Gilmore. “Mr. Reed, it’s true that this Cedric was sending secret messages to other sects through carrier pigeons.”

“We haven’t wronged him, and we implore you, Mr. Reed, to punish this traitor severely.”

However, Gilmore, with a flick of his finger, sent a burst of energy that shattered the acupoint seal on Cedric,

As soon as he was freed, Cedric knelt before Gilmore, pleading. Mr. Reed, my loyalty to you is unwavering, as clear as the heavens.

“I was merely releasing night pigeons on the rear mountainside to forage when Mr. Gardner and his team falsely accused me of sending secret messages to other sects with the pigeons.

“This is a serious injustice, and I hope Mr. Reed will vindicate me

Gilmore said, “Cedric, you don’t need to say any more. I know your loyalty well. The vice sect masters may have offended you, and I will question them.

“Go and rest for now.

Although Cedric felt some resentment, he knew when to accept his good fortune. He said, “Thank you, Mr. Reed. I’ll take my

leave.”

After that, he left the villa.

Seeing Cedric leave without any harm, Leland and Darius couldn’t hide their anxiety. They turned to Gilmore and asked, “Mr. Reed, why did you let Cedric go?”

“Mr. Reed, Cedric was up to no good, going to the rear mountainside so late and releasing so many carrier pigeons. Why do you believe what he said?”

However, Gilmore wore a sly smile as he addressed them. “Vice Sect Masters, don’t be in such a hurry. I’m well aware that what you’re saying is true.”

The statement that Gilmore made only deepened the perplexed look on Leland’s and Darius’s faces.

If Gilmore knew that their words were true, why did he let Cedric go? It seemed contradictory.

Gilmore, as if he could read their thoughts, continued, I know exactly what Cedric was up to.

“I simply employed a tactic of fighting fire with fire to let them dig their own graves.”

Leland and Darius wore expressions full of confusion. They couldn’t fathom the meaning behind Gilmore’s words about “fighting fire with fire” and “digging their own graves“.

At this moment, Gilmore reached into his clothing and pulled out a jade casket.

This rectangular jade casket, measuring a little over four inches in length and no more than two inches in width, was an exquisite find.

Although unadorned on its surface, it radiated an extraordinary aura, indicating that it was a precious gem.

The gazes of Leland and Darius immediately fixated on the extraordinary jade casket, their minds racing with curiosity: “What could possibly be concealed within that jade casket?”
