Chapter Divorce After 10 Year 3
Chapter 3
The house was quiet as Aurora walked into the bedroom she had shared with Fenrir, feeling the silence like a heavy weight pressing down on her.
The faint scent of his cologne still lingered in the air, a bittersweet reminder of the man she thought she knew. Her eyes drifted over the room, and there, lying on the bed in plain sight, were the divorce papers.
A shiver ran through her as she stared at them. Each page was crisp and clean, the lines of legal jargon stark and cold.
She felt a pang of sorrow at the sight, but also a strange sense of relief. Here, laid out before her, was the finality of everything-the proof that the life she had built with Fenrir was ending.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she picked up the pen, hovering over the signature line.
For a moment, she hesitated, remembering the dreams and promises that had once bound them together. But she reminded herself that those promises were empty now, overshadowed by the undeniable truth of his actions. With a deep breath, she signed her name, the ink drying as if sealing away the last fragments of their bond.
As she placed the pen down, a tear slid down her cheek, but she quickly wiped it away. This was her reality now, and she needed to be strong.
Aurora picked up her phone and called for her assigned driver, her voice steady as she instructed him to take her to her mother's home. The drive was quiet, her mind racing with thoughts of what lay ahead.
Her mother's house had always been a place of comfort, but returning now felt like retreating in defeat.
She forced herself to look out the window, taking in the familiar surroundings as they blurred by, trying to find solace in the journey back to her roots.
When they finally arrived, Aurora took a moment to compose herself before stepping out of the car. She was met by her mother's warm smile, which quickly shifted into a look of concern as she took in her daughter's weary expression. "Aurora, sweetheart, what's wrong?" her mother asked, gently taking her hands.
Aurora managed a small smile, grateful for the concern, but the emotions she'd held back began to break free. She took a deep breath, struggling to keep her voice steady. "Mom, Fenrir... he asked me for a divorce."
The shock on her mother's face mirrored the pain Aurora felt. "Divorce?" her mother repeated, disbelief etched into her features. "But, why? I thought you two were happy together. You're his Luna, his partner..."
Aurora shook her head, unable to meet her mother's gaze as she felt the wave of sadness wash over her. "He... he still loves someone else, Mom. Arianna came back, and it's like I'm no one to him anymore. I thought we had a future, that we'd build a family together, but he doesn't want that with me."
Her mother pulled her into a comforting embrace, rubbing soothing circles on her back as Aurora's defenses crumbled. "Oh, Aurora," her mother murmured softly. "I'm so sorry. I can't believe he would throw everything away like this."
For a long moment, Aurora clung to her mother, finding comfort in the familiar warmth and scent. This was where she belonged, among people who loved her unconditionally. She felt the ache in her heart ease just a little, though the sadness lingered, heavy and unrelenting.
Her mother pulled back slightly, studying her face. "Are you sure there's nothing left to salvage?" she asked gently. "Maybe he's confused or overwhelmed... Could it be a mistake?"
Aurora shook her head. "He made it very clear, Mom. His heart belongs to her, not to me." She hesitated, her hand instinctively moving to her stomach as she thought of the secret she still carried. But she quickly brushed it aside. This wasn't the right time to tell anyone. She needed to come to terms with this loss herself before deciding what to do next.
Her mother sighed, a mixture of sadness and anger flickering in her gaze. "You deserve so much better, Aurora. You deserve someone who treasures you, who values everything you bring to the pack." She placed a hand on Aurora's cheek. "Just know that you're not alone in this. You have me, no matter what."
Aurora managed a small, grateful smile, though her heart was still heavy. She was about to thank her mother when her phone buzzed, the sharp sound cutting through the quiet comfort of the moment.
She pulled it from her pocket, her breath catching as she saw Fenrir's name on the screen. A mix of emotions surged through her-anger, hurt, and an odd, lingering hope she knew she shouldn't feel. "Hello?" she answered, her voice cautious.
"Aurora," Fenrir's voice was as cold and emotionless as ever. "I need you to come back to the estate first thing tomorrow."
Her pulse quickened, her mind racing as she tried to process his request.
"Why?" she asked, struggling to keep the tremor from her voice.
There was a brief pause before he responded. "I need to reject you properly. It's a necessary part of the process."
The words hit her like a blow, her heart shattering all over again. It wasn't enough that he'd asked her for a divorce; now he wanted to officially sever the bond that had once tied them together.
A rejection would be final, a symbolic act that would make their separation undeniable in the eyes of the pack and the bond between them irrevocably broken.
