Chapter 929: How dare you betray me
After Hall's investigation, two days later in, a large quantity of western aconite and strychnine was found in a disused warehouse somewhere in Italy. The boxes containing the herbs are stacked neatly and the boxes are all new.
It would appear from this that the herbs have only just arrived at this warehouse.
Hall ordered his men, "Take pictures, get all this on film."
They can't move these herbs yet, lest they spook the snake, but they must make everything clear to the Bergerian here.
"Mr Hall, the pictures are all taken." The handyman handed Hall the phone with the pictures taken.
Hall took the phone and flicked through it, nodding, "Keep an eye on it, I'll report back to Mr Bergerian."
"Yes."
Hall rushed back through the night and Bergerian was already ready to rest when he was aroused.
"Got the results?" Bergerian sat on the sofa, his hawk-like eyes fixed straight on Hall.
Instead of answering, Hall stepped forward and handed out the phone, "See for yourself."
"What is it?"
Bergerian picked up the phone and looked down, his face instantly changed, "Western aconite and strychnine."
"Yes, what you see should be the batch of herbs that have been burnt."
"Where was it found?" Bergerian asked.
"A derelict warehouse."
"Is there any evidence that that warehouse belongs to the SA Group?"
Hall raised his eyebrows slightly and nodded, "I've looked into it, that warehouse has been abandoned for a few years, but it does belong to the SA Group."
At the affirmative answer, Bergerian burst into a rage, "Damn you John, how dare you betray me!"
John is the most aware of how important the western aconite and strychnine are to the current research, but he has gone so far as to use such underhanded tactics to get out of it. Bergerian's chest was heaving up and down rapidly from all the anger.
Hall's eyes flickered and he spoke up and asked, "Mr Bergerian, what are we going to do now?"
"How?" John hooked his lips grimly, his eyes filled with a ruthless look, "I want John and the SA Group to know that betraying me will never end well."
...
Meanwhile, Hector receives a call from Ramm.
"Prince, everything is going well."
At that, Hector curled his lips, "That's good, you keep an eye on it."
"Yes."
Ramm was about to hang up, when Hector's voice suddenly rang out, "Ramm, let me know if you hear from Rowson."
"Rowson? What's wrong with him?"
Ramm thought Rowson had done something else and couldn't help but get a little anxious.
"It's fine, just let me know if you have him."
Ramm couldn't be bothered to ask more, "Okay, I get it."
That afternoon, the Rogers family had an unexpected visitor.
"Cousin, what brings you here?"
As soon as the housekeeper came upstairs to say that they had guests, Eloise and Hector immediately went downstairs.
Once she saw it was Edgar, Eloise was surprised too.
On the contrary, Hector did not react much, faintly.
"Grandpa misses you guys, but his old man can't come over, so I'm running in his stead." Edgar looked at her with a gentle, light smile.
At the mention of Grandpa Khan, Eloise couldn't help but have a hint of guilt appear on her face, "I should have been the one to visit Grandpa."
After the old man's birthday, Hector was away on business and she had health problems, so she simply did not have the time or the means to visit the old man. "Grandpa is quite angry."
Edgar said it with such fervour that Eloise blushed, "Grandpa's really angry?"
"What do you say?" Edgar raised an eyebrow.
Eloise didn't notice the smile in his eyes and believed him, a little anxiously, "What then? Why don't I call Grandpa now."
With that, she was about to go upstairs and make a phone call.
"Eloise," Hector said, pulling her back.
Eloise looks back at him.
"He's teasing you."
Amusing?
Eloise looked over at Edgar, only to see the latter rub his nose and stifle a laugh.
"Why are you being so annoying?" Eloise feigned anger and went up to push him. Edgar doesn't hide and smiles, "Just a little joke."
"And a little joke, I'm scared to death of you." Eloise glared at him without mercy.
She didn't want her grandfather to be angry with her.
"Then you can visit Grandpa more often from now on." Edgar put away his smile and said with a somewhat serious expression. "Good."
The Khan family is not at peace now, and Grandpa must be having a hard time too.
"Hector, sometime we'll take Solomon and Sweety to Kyoto to see Grandpa."
Hector nodded, "Good."
"Uncle!"
Just then, a childish voice came out.
It's Sweety.
She came running towards Edgar on her little short legs.
"Sweety," Edgar said, immediately crouching down and spreading his arms wide.
Sweety flung herself into his arms and he picked her up in a smooth hug.
"Uncle, Sweety misses you so much." Sweety said as she wrapped her arms around his neck, her voice as Sweety's as her name.
"I miss you too." Edgar stroked her head, fondness leaping to the surface.
Solomon also approached, very different from Sweety, who simply called out politely, "Uncle."
He has a steadiness about him that is different from his age and looks like a scaled-down version of Hector.
Edgar loved him and reached out to pinch his cheek, "Solomon, Uncle misses you too."
At this, Solomon became a little embarrassed and said in a low voice, "Me too."
Hector's mother came over and smiled at Edgar, "Why are you all standing here, come and sit in the living room."
"Hi Aunty, I'm Edgar, it's ..." Edgar called out in a good and polite manner.
"It's Eloise's cousin, Eloise mentioned it to me." Hector's mother interrupted with a smile.
"So." Edgar glanced at Eloise.
Hector's mother was smiling and kind, "Make yourself at home."
"Good."
Several people took their seats in the living room and the butler brought tea and snacks.
"It's dinner later, so Edgar why don't you stay and have dinner with us." Hector's mother said. Edgar froze, "May I?"
"Of course." Hector's mother found his reaction somewhat amusing and continued, "We're in-laws, and the two families will have to have dinner together sometime in the future."
Although Eloise's mother has been away from home for many years, looking at Grandpa Khan's attitude towards Eloise, he should be relieved of the past.
In this way, there is a real need for the two families to get together.
Edgar was worried that the Rogers family would stay away when they found out about the Khan family, but not expecting this to be mentioned of their own accord, he hastily stated, "Yes, I'll talk to my grandfather when we get back." Hector's mother thought seriously, "I'll tell you what, I'll pick a good day and we'll go to Kyoto to visit the old man as a family."
"Good." Edgar nodded.
Eloise looked at Hector's mother and was touched by her heart.
"Mom's really nice." Eloise whispered in Hector's ear.
Hector raised an eyebrow, "What about me?"
Eloise lost her smile, "Just as well."
Hector smiled and held her hand tightly.
