Chapter 9
Tyree knew well about their strained relationship in the past and shot Caitlyn a stern glance. “Eileen and her son have just returned. There’s no need for harsh words. Try to get along.”
“Mom, whose child is this?” Brittany suddenly appeared at the top of the stairs, her curiosity piqued at seeing her father holding a child.
“What do you mean ‘whose child”? This is your sister’s son, born abroad,” Caitlyn said, her tone laced with disdain.
Brittany’s eyes widened in disbelief. She descended the stairs and confronted Eileen. “You had a child and didn’t even inform us? Is it something to be ashamed of?”
“Brittany, watch your language. Sean is part of our family too. Don’t speak about him. like that.” Tyree immediately rebuked her, displeased.
Caitlyn watched the scene unfold with growing resentment. Eileen’s mere presence, along with her son, had already swayed Tyree’s attitude, even affecting his behavior towards his daughter.
“But Dad, I’m just concerned about her!” Brittany retorted, feigning innocence.
“Come, let Grandpa take you for a walk in the garden,” Tyree said, eager to bond with his grandson.
As Tyree walked away with Sean, Brittany sneered, “Did you become someone’s mistress? That child must be illegitimate!”
Eileen’s gaze was filled with intense hatred. She would never forget what Brittany and Belen had done to her, nor would she ever forgive them.
“It’s none of your business,” Eileen responded coldly.
Eileen’s aura had grown stronger over the years, and Brittany noticed, with envy, that Eileen had become even more beautiful.
This stirred up a surge of jealousy from within her. Ever since they were children, Eileen’s beauty had always surpassed hers. She had assumed that after being driven away, Eileen must have become destitute and miserable. But to her surprise, when they met again, she exuded an extraordinary demeanor, calm and elegant, her skin as white as snow, and her figure perfectly exquisite.
She thought, ‘Did she really look like a woman who had given birth to a child?’
Caitlyn seized the opportunity to threaten her. “Whatever your intentions for

returning, I warn you not to come up with any schemes. Nothing in this house has anything to do with you.”
Eileen scoffed. “Why is it none of my business? When my father started his company, my grandparents invested in it. You’re enjoying the fruits of their labor and have the nerve to say this?”
“You…”
“Don’t be ungrateful, Eileen. Five years ago, I could kick you out this house, and I can do the same now!” Brittany threatened her openly.
“This house, I only want to be related to my dad. What happens to his company is his business. Why are you two meddling in it?” Eileen retorted coldly, finding the situation absurd.
“Don’t think just because you brought a child back, you’ll get a larger share. No way, Caitlyn said through gritted teeth.
“My dad is still very much alive. You keep talking about dividing up his estate. Are you wishing him a shorter life? I must ensure that he stays in good health, lest you and your daughter covet his wealth,” Eileen shot back coldly, seeing right through the mother- daughter duo’s greed rather than genuine love and concern for her father.
“You…” Caitlyn was left speechless, hastily trying to save face. “He’s my husband! Of course, I wish him a long life.”
Brittany hastily defended her mother. “What nonsense are you talking, Eileen! My mom loves dad the most.”
Eileen pulled out her phone, sat on the sofa, and began to scroll on it, choosing to ignore the mother-and-daughter pair.
The se rvant prepared a table full of dishes, and Tyree also had her make two non-spi cy dishes for his grandson, Sean.
Caitlyn and Brittany were almost fuming with anger. Tyree’s fond gaze towards Sean was undeniable, indicating that Eileen had regained his affection through her son.
“What kind of work are you doing?” Tyree asked curiously during dinner.
“I studied jewelry design abroad, and now I’m a designer at Treasure Studio,” Eileen replied.
Upon hearing that, Tyree couldn’t hide his pride. “That’s great, Treasure Studio is very reputable.”
“Dad, I’m also looking for a job! I’m interviewing for a position as a car model,” Brittany

chimed in, eager not to be outdone.
“What kind of job is that? Don’t you dare embarrass me! Quit it right away.” Tyree immediately criticized her.
“Tyrce, Brittany is just playing around. She plans to work at your company in the future.” Caitlyn quickly spoke up for her daughter.
“Hmph! With her skills, what can she do at my company? Be a receptionist?” Tyree scoffed.
Brittany’s heart seethed with hatred towards Eileen, feeling overshadowed and incompetent by comparison.
“Grandpa, my mommy is amazing. Her jewelry designs are in the national
competition,” Sean said proudly.
Tyree beamed with joy as he asked, “Really? That’s indeed fantastic! Sean, I’ll take you to buy a gift this afternoon. Tell Grandpa what you want.”
“Thank you, Grandpa!” Sean said politely.
Eileen didn’t expect her father to adore her son so much. Regardless, it was a comforting thought.
Meanwhile, Caitlyn and Brittany grew increasingly irritated watching the little boy, finding his intelligence and charm at such a young age quite bothersome.
After dinner, Eileen, Sean, and Tyree went out in his car, heading straight to a nearby shopping mall. Tyree generously bought gifts for his grandson, spending hundreds on robots and Lego sets without batting an eye.
“Dad, that’s enough, don’t spoil him.” Eileen immediately tried to stop her father.
“Alright, after this, no more. Maybe in a couple of days.” Tyree felt it still wasn’t enough to express his affection.
“Grandpa, you don’t need to buy anymore for me. I have plenty,” Sean said sensibly.
Tyree joyfully stroked his grandson’s head, growing fonder of him by the minute.
After being dropped off at her apartment by her father, Eileen noticed Tyree’s contemplative look at her rented place. He had been successful in business these past years and wanted to compensate her.
Once her father had left, Eileen hugged Sean and said, “Grandpa really likes you.”
“I like Grandpa too,” Sean replied happily, then puffed out his cheeks and asked.

“Mommy, can you tell me where my daddy is?”
Eileen paused, knowing that this question was inevitable. She looked earnestly at her son and said, “Sean, I don’t know where he is, and he might never appear in our lives. But no matter what, Mommy will always be with you and love you.”
Sean nodded and picked up his Legos. “Then I’m going to play!”
“Okay!” Eileen nodded, watching her son unwrap the toy on the sofa. Her mind flashed with thoughts.
Actually, finding Sean’s father wouldn’t be difficult. She just had to ask Brittany and Belen who they arranged to be with her that night. They claimed it was a male prostitute, but she would never let her son know that his father came from such a profession.
In the end, she decided that as long as she and her father loved Sean, that was enough
for this lifetime.
