Chapter 7
O
Isabela immediately coughed to draw everyone’s attention. “Alright, today’s meeting is about our participation in the upcoming competition. First, congratulations to the two shortlisted designers, Dalia and Eileen.”
Eileen looked up, meeting Dalia’s challenging gaze. This competition, if won, could bring a significant bonus to the company, representing a fierce battle for interests.
Isabela analyzed the competition details. As an experienced director, she had great confidence in their submissions.
Eileen, focusing on the table, suddenly felt a persistent gaze on her. Looking up, she realized it was undoubtedly coming from Winston.
‘What’s this guy’s deal? Why is he always staring at me?’ she thought.
Her mother had sacrificed herself for him, and honestly, Eileen didn’t want to see him.. Although he was only five at the time and not to blame, she harbored a resentment deep inside.
“Eileen, what do you think?” Isabela suddenly called on her.
Eileen had been daydreaming heavily just now, completely losing track of what Isabela was saying. She lifted her head at Isabela, looking somewhat baffled. “Um… Director, could you specify which aspect you’re referring to?”
Isabela’s face soured as she thought, ‘Daydreaming during my meeting?”
“Eileen, even though you’ve been assigned here from headquarters, that doesn’t mean you can be overconfident and disregard me. You weren’t listening to what I just said, were you?” Isabela, known for her strictness, felt the need to reprimand her.
The other designers watched on, enjoying the scene. Eileen felt her cheeks heat up, not knowing how to respond, when a deep male voice intervened. “Discuss the selling points of your competition pieces.”
Winston was offering her a lifeline.
Confident in her expertise, Eileen immediately perked up. “My submission uses the finest quality platinum suitable for gem setting, enhanced with rhodium and palladium. This combination offers excellent luster, hardness, and durability. The product is rare and prestigious and retains value well, ensuring no discoloration and good stability, making it suitable for collectors. My target customers are those who enjoy purchasing luxury collectibles.”
After she finished speaking, her gaze inadvertently met Winston’s intense stare. She

quickly looked away.
“So, it’s expensive, right?” Dalia sneered. “I’m different. I focus on fashion elements. People nowadays quickly tire of old styles. I believe my work is more in line with market demands.”
With a tight-l*pped smile, Eileen responded, “All have their unique selling points.”
Finally, the meeting ended without much input from Winston.
“Alright, that concludes the meeting,” Isabela announced.
“Eileen, stay back for a minute. Everyone else, you may leave.” Winston suddenly spoke
up.
Eileen was about to take a sip of water to soothe her throat when she heard Winston’s request to stay. Almost choking on her drink, she suddenly found herself the focus of envious, jealous, and resentful gazes, particularly from Dalia, who shot her a look of pure malice.
It was as if they believed she had used some ploy to charm Winston.
Eileen was speechless. ‘Can’t this guy see the situation I’m in at the company?’ She was already being ostracized by others, and now he was making their relationship appear ambiguously intimate.
Once everyone left, Eileen leaned back in her chair and asked coo lly, “Mr. Nielsen, did you need something?”
“Why didn’t you accept the house I offered you yesterday?” Winston’s gaze was intense.
“Just because you offered it, I should accept it? I’ve said before, I do not accept any favors from the Nielsen family,” Eileen reiterated firmly.
“You should consider your son. The residential area I chose has perfect amenities, including a prestigious kindergarten. It’s safe and ideal for living with a child,” Winston. said, shedding his CEO demeanor for a moment and sounding more like a salesperson.
The offer was tempting for Eileen as a mother. Providing the best education and environment for her son was her greatest joy.
“No need, I can give my son the best.” Eileen dismissed the offer. To her, the most precious thing wasn’t material but emotional companionship.
As long as her son was with her, even if they lived modestly, it was happiness.
Winston frowned, finding himself at a loss with this pri ckly woman.

“In the future, unless it’s work-related, please don’t approach me, Mr. Nielsen, Eileen said, gathering her documents and leaving.
That afternoon, she received a call from her father, inviting her to dinner at home the next day. He wanted to see her.
Eileen agreed. It was time to visit home.
Back in Winston’s office….
He sat there elegantly, listening to his assistant’s report.
“Find out who the father of Eileen’s son is,” he instructed.
If material things couldn’t move her, he had to find another angle.
“Right away.” Konnor immediately accepted the task.
Just then, Winston’s phone rang. Picking it up, he saw it was Belen calling.
“Hello!” Winston answered the phone with as much warmth as he could muster.
“Winston, are you busy with work? Can I join you for dinner tonight?”
“Sure, I’ll book us a restaurant.” Winston agreed.
“Then I’ll wait for you to pick me up.” Belen sounded thrilled on the other end.
“Okay.” After Winston hung up, Belen’s face flashed in his mind. For some reason, he couldn’t sense a trace of the woman from that night in her.
He vaguely remembered the woman from that night-her l*ps unimaginably soft, a faint scent on her b*dy, her voice captivating, despite being tearful. Belen’s voice, however, seemed a bit too sharp.
Five years can bring significant changes to a person, and now Winston only wanted to compensate her for the irreversible damage he had caused her that night.
At a high-end Western restaurant…
Belen was dressed in a new Chanel outfit, made up with light makeup. Under the skilled hands of a makeup artist and due to expensive products, her average-looking face was elevated several levels. Yet, she wasn’t breathtakingly beautiful.
She had the type of beauty that was neither plain nor stunning.
But tonight, she was the most envied woman in the restaurant, seated across from a
op-tier man, who was handsome, elegant, and charismatic, exuding a regal aura.

“Cheers.” Belen initiated a toast, her eyes filled with longing as she looked at the man across from her. Though they had been acquainted for nearly three weeks, Winston had always treated her with courtesy.
But what she wanted was more than just that. She desired this man, yearned for a romantic relationship with him, and aspired for the status of being his wife.
Now that she had all this, she was terrified, absolutely fearful of losing it all.
Being wealthy felt too joyous. Whatever she wanted would appear before her the next moment. Her favorite new Chanel dresses were delivered to her to choose from, she could pick out any handbag she liked from among several colors, and she could freely select diamond jewelry.
This feeling, like floating on clouds, was something she never wanted to lose in her lifetime.
