Killing My Alpha Mate

Chapter 51

The preparations begin shortly and deep in my gut I'm fully aware this is all my fault.

It doesn't help that I'm always reminded by Lord Perry.

Carter claimed the territory without leaving any stone untouched like he had been planning for years.

Changing the guards, giving his cook specific information, reducing the number of people living in the house he's been up and about all the time changing one thing or another. These last two days have been hectic, Jaden refuses to communicate with me, Nisha has Elijah to take care of then there's Riley and Ride nowhere to be seen.

Not like I had the opportunity, Carter had me under supervision.

Giving detailed instructions about getting my hair done, my nails, and choosing the color for his grand event that's to be followed by the coronation. Stepping into the park house returning

from the store, where I literally sat down and was shown different decorations after finishing they bought entirely everything a waste of my time.

A familiar face walks by the one I've been trying to hide away from, Lord Perry.

He looks at me with detest like he always did but now it has added more intensity.

I've grown accustomed to the look but I feel there's a way to still fix the damage I've caused.

Smiling at my maids by my side waving them inside.

"I'll be right in a minute" I state watching them leave as I follow Lord Perry.

"What do you want, Hailey?" He asks, stopping in the empty hallway.

"I just want to talk" I request hoping he would be able to keep aside the enmity he had with my family and save his.

"There's nothing to talk about" He says walking away, proving me wrong.

"Lord Perry if you could just put our differences aside and come up with a way to fix this to get Carter out the way-

"Shh!" He shushes, pushing me into a room.

"What the hell is that, Hailey, are you trying to get me killed?" Lord Perry breathes.

Not like he is bothered about my safety or anything.

"I'm just saying there has to be a way to get Carter out of the way, you both look like you have a bond, who is Carter Morale?"

"Firstly there's nothing that can be changed Jaden can only challenge Carter in a fight after ten years and Carter is a freak of nature" "What do you mean"

"I and Morale's alliance was strictly discreet only Rustave was at the fight"

"And so?" I question, perplexed about where this conversation is heading.

"I killed Morale in that fight and he had no child”

How is that possible?

"Maybe Mr. Morale had a confidential child"

"And who happened to tell him about the Alliance?"

"Rustave is a promising suspect" I've always hated him, his whole energy screamed a bad aura.

"Why would Rustave do that? Although I don't trust him it seems like a stupid attempt to me "Anything is possible he may be in an alliance with Rustave"

"Well if you feel so, the only way to fix your errs is if something mysterious happens to Carter"

I'm shocked by his suggestion but even more, startled by my reaction.

What more do you expect from a self-centered slob like Lord Perry?

"You're a smart girl, figure it out" He says calmly, walking out the door easily while I stand dumbfounded. There's no way I was going to kill Carter as much as he deserved it. I ain't planning to get my hands dirty. Taking a deep breath, I walk out the door heading for Nisha's room.

Knock! Knock!

I give gentle knocks on the door.

Nisha opens a while later and beams up as she sees me.

"Hailey" She says happily, pulling me into a warm hug.

I walk in closing the door behind me Elijah is in bed looking like a baby he had been tucked tightly with three pillows by his back and side. Nisha's work I'm guessing.

"Hailey thank God you're here please help appeal to Nisha I'm not down anymore" Elijah pleads.

He does look better than when we found him three days ago. Nisha had been so scared she didn't let him out of her sight for a moment.

I know how she feels. I haven't seen Jaden since the fight in the arena and he didn't want to speak to me. I feel crushed with no emotion doing one thing or another to get my mind off him but time and time again I end up lost in thought about him or finding him in my dreams.

"You would have been discharged if only you listened to me," says in a bossy tone.

"Hailey..." Elijah calls out.

"I don't know this looks like a love problem and I don't want any part of it"

"How's he?" I whisper, turning to Nisha.

"He's getting better but still can't recall anything it's like from the time he stepped in my room at the hospital till he woke up in bed the memory is missing" Nisha cringes looking at him.

I know what she's scared of the most, Elijah's wolf also lost his memory which is strange. How could they possibly get to his wolf through his subconscious?

I hold her hand in mine giving an encouraging smile.

"The good thing is he safe and that's all that matters"

"I won't let anything like that happen again"

I and Nisha shared the same guilt.

If she had driven recklessly and gotten into an accident Elijah may have not been captured and only the moon goddess knows what the hell they did to him. And I got it worse. Not only have I endangered him twice, but I'm also the cause of his failures as an Alpha.
