Chapter Epilogue
Two years later
Macey was getting ready to walk down the aisle in her white dress. She had been up early vomiting and it wasn't from nerves either. Cherry had run to the chemist for her before the team arrived to help her prepare to walk down the aisle and marry the man of her dreams.
A lot had happened in those two years. Macey had never returned to her dorm at the uni, instead, she stayed with Johan. Diesel was facing 4 and a half years in prison for what he had done to Macey. He had no remorse whatsoever and even broke free from the prison guards while being led out of court to attack Macey. She ended up with a split lip and a concussion after he had heard his sentence. Another 18 months was added to the original sentence because of the attack.
Macey had sold her mother's house for 2.5 million dollars and bought an hour in Wollongong overlooking the water. She and Johan had moved out of his little flat into the house together even with people telling them it was too soon to be so serious. Macey loved her place, it was her sanctuary and now it would be the house she raised her children in. She just hoped that Johan would be happy. They had discussed children but had decided to wait because she had only been at her job a year. She was a youth off-the-street social worker helping kids who had run away from home. Johan was head of security at the bistro now and worked mainly during the day but still had night shifts every second weekend.
Asher had moved to Wollongong and was happy. He and Macey weren't the best of friends but they had an understanding of sorts. She hadn't forgiven him but she had accepted that it had happened. Asher had been trying to be a better brother for his sister but accepted the friendship and ran with it. Asher and Johan were friendly as well mainly because both cared about Macey a lot. Asher purposely stayed away from relationships as he was worried he would end up like his father and was still in counselling to deal with that.
Tyler's ex-girlfriend had turned up at Macey's university 6 months after he passed away with a baby in her arms. Turns out he had been abusive towards her and she fled when she discovered she was pregnant. Her name was Alice and Macey and she became close. Her little boy Thomas was the ring bearer for the wedding. Raph was the flower boy and was going to pull the little cart down the aisle where Thomas would be sitting in. Raph had choreographed his routine to walk down the aisle while scattering rose petals.
Asher was a fantastic uncle to Thomas and Macey hoped that he would be good with her child too. She knew he was just as broken as she was. He had lost all his family because Diesel had told him to choose and he had chosen Macey. Macey didn't feel right about the fact he had to choose but she stayed right out of it. Macey has nothing to do with Diesel at all and she wanted it kept that way.
A knock on the door brought Macey out of her thoughts. "Come in" Macey called out. She still had a hold of the pregnancy test not sure if she should get someone to take it to Johan or if she should just wait till after the ceremony. "Hey I have something for you" Asher stated popping his head around the door of the hotel suite that Macey was in.
Macey smiled, "you didn't have to get me anything" she replied. "It's not from me, it's from mum. She asked me to give it to you on your wedding day" Asher replied before his eyes looked at what was in Macey's hand. He took it from her and looked at the words pregnant 6wks+ on the stick. Asher couldn't help but smile at his sister. He was so glad she was happy and getting to experience all of this. He was more thankful he got to watch it happen.
"Congratulations, Mace I'm so proud of you. I'm so happy that you will have a loving family" Asher said before kissing Macey on the forehead. "Thanks" Macey replied. "Here," Asher said handing Macey a letter. She had read all her mother's letters except for the one she was to open when she had her first child. She had cried this morning when she read the letter from her mum which described how she wished she was there to see her marry, help her dress and witness her daughter living a happy and full life.
Macey took a deep breath, she didn't know if she could open the letter or not. "Thanks" she replied. "The letter I got told me to be close while you read it" Asher explained. Macey nodded and opened the letter.
To my beautiful daughter on your wedding day.
My baby girl is growing up and starting her own family. I wish nothing more than your happiness. If I am correct, you will be walking yourself down the aisle. Macey, I have a favour to ask of you. Please allow your brother Asher to walk you down the aisle in place of me. It is a big ask but I want you to know that from the moment you were born, he adored you. He may not have shown you along the way but you were the first girl he loved, even above me. He would spend hours watching you sleeping, taking care of you and just holding you in his arms.
Things may not have turned out like we wanted it to, but Macey don't let hate win. Your father was all about hate and you are better than him. Today is a day of love my sweet girl and you need to show them that love will always win.
I love you baby and congratulations.
Macey wiped the tears from under her eyes and looked at her big brother. "Ash, umm can you please walkmedowntheaisle?" Macey asked. "Mace, you are going to have to repeat that slowly" Asher replied chuckling. She used to do the same as a kid when she was excited. "Can you please walk me down the aisle?" Macey repeated.
Asher was shocked, he had offered when she first told him she was getting married but she had declined. "Are you sure?" Asher asked. He didn't want her to feel obligated at all. Macey nodded, "I'm sure" she replied. "I'd be honoured to" Asher replied before Cherry burst into the room. "You better hurry up, Johan is threatening to storm up here and bring you down kicking and screaming if he has to. His brother is holding him back literally" Cherry laughed out.
Macey laughed but nodded her head. She picked up her flowers and the test before taking Asher's arm and heading towards the door. They just had to go down to the lobby and turn right to the garden. Within 2 minutes Macey was watching Raph dance his way down the aisle pulling Thomas along. The guests were laughing and Greg was shaking his head at his boyfriend's performance.
The music began and Macey and Asher began to walk down the aisle. Macey only had eyes for Johan who only had eyes for Macey. As she reached Johan, Asher kissed his sister on the cheek and handed her to Johan. "Hurt her and I'm coming for you" Asher stated but Johan just smiled he had no plans of hurting Macey at all.
Johan took Macey's hand and felt something hard he looked down and saw the pregnancy test in her hand. Johan raised his eyes to look at Macey who was smiling at him. "Really?" He asked to which Macey nodded her head yes. Johan pulled Macey towards him and crashed his lips onto hers. "That's supposed to happen at the end mate" Liam, Johan's brother stated causing the guests to laugh. "Eager much?" Cherry added. The celebrant cleared his throat and soon the service was underway.
The ceremony and reception went off without a hitch and Macey was happy. Johan and Macey had kept the wedding small with only 50 guests. They both preferred it that way. Macey even danced with Asher while Johan danced with his mother, Raph and Greg had offered to step into that role for the dance as it was the only thing Johan's mother wanted included in the day. Macey was finally able to forgive Asher and not for him but because her mum was right. Not forgiving Asher was allowing her father to win and she would never allow that to happen.
