Forgive us

Johan called for the ambulance and then crouched down near Macey. He needed to feel if she had a pulse or not. When the phone was answered the operator asked "Police, ambulance or fire?" Johan let out a sigh of relief after finding a faint pulse on Macey's wrist. "Ambulance" he stated into the phone.

Johan was transferred over to the ambulance service and once the address was given he was asked what the issue was. "My girlfriend has been assaulted by her brother. She is unconscious and her pulse is really faint" Johan told the operator. "Ok, when was she assaulted and do you require police assistance?" The operator asked. "She has been missing for three hours. We just found her passed out at the back of the bar. She is bleeding from her face and head. Please hurry" Johan sobbed out.

"We are sending help sir. I need you to check if she is breathing for me. I want you to place your hand on her chest and every time you feel her taking a breath say now" the operator instructed. "Oh god, I don't want to hurt her" Johan replied scared to touch Macey because of the damage he could see.

Asher was trying to rub the hair out of Macey's face which was stuck with the blood. "Macey please wake up. What the fuck did he do to you? Macey, please wake up" Asher was sobbing.

"Sir, I need to assess your girlfriend's breathing. Gently place your hand on her chest and when you feel her take a breath say now" the operator stated firmly. "Ok, when will the ambulance be here?" Johan mumbled. "Sir, they are on the way but I need you to help me help your girlfriend" the operator replied.

"Ok, now" Johan began just as Asher's phone rang. Asher ignored the call but they kept calling. Johan continued to let the operator know when he felt Macey take a breath. He blocked everything else out. He just wanted the ambulance to get here quickly.

Asher yelled into the phone, "What?" He didn't even check who was calling he was too worried about his sister. "This is officer Upton, is this Asher Byrnes?" Officer Upton asked. She had been one of the first on the scene of the car accident and they had just identified the victims who had been trapped in the car which had caught fire. Both the driver and passenger were deceased but from the fingerprints of the passenger they managed to get an ID. "Yes, we found my sister, she has been assaulted by Tyler we are waiting for an ambulance" Asher rushed out thinking it was a follow-up call about Macey.

"Sorry, what are you talking about?" Officer Upton asked. "Macey, we found her. Tyler called saying he fucked up and then said Macey. He hung up and we have just found her. She has been badly beaten" Asher rushed out. "Where are you?" Officer Upton asked. It seemed there was more than just a car crash to investigate and if what Asher was saying was correct, then Tyler had assaulted Macey before he was involved in a car crash. "At the back of the sports bar near the industrial rubbish bins," Asher replied.

Johan was still on the phone to the ambulance service and he was annoyed that the ambulance hadn't arrived. "Where is the ambulance?" Johan bit out. Macey's breaths were shallow now and slowing down. "Sir, they are on their way" the operator replied. "They are 5 minutes out, I need you to tell me what's happening with your girlfriend" the operator added checking the ETA on screen. "Her breathing is shallow now" Johan replied.

Macey could hear people around her, she tried to speak but just groaned in pain. She was struggling to breathe now. She just hoped whoever was around wasn't Tyler. "Macey?" Johan and Asher questioned together. Asher hung up on Officer Upton who was apparently on her way. Johan was still on the phone with the ambulance but now was more interested in Macey than the person on the phone.

Macey began to cough violently before she started to cough up blood. "Shit" Asher screamed alerting people who were walking towards the cars. It was nearly closing time at the bar now. "Oi, what's going on?" Someone called out. "Get help" Asher screamed back which sent the people back into the bar screaming for help.

"Sir, what's happening?" The operator asked. "She is coughing up blood" Johan rushed out. "Is she still breathing?" The operator asked just as the police car raced into the car park heading towards the back. Jeff and Greg came flying out of the bar towards the bins.

The lights from the police car hit the three and Officer Upton sucked in a breath. She hadn't seen an assault victim this bad at all. There was not any skin that wasn't black from a bruise. She left the lights on to illuminate the area. Jeff and Greg stopped when they saw the state Macey was in as did the people who called them for help.

"Call an ambulance" someone screamed out. "Leave," Officer Upton told the people who were gathering around. Johan was trying to listen to what the operator was saying but couldn't hear over everyone talking at once. "Shut up" Johan screamed out. Officer Upton walked over to Johan.

"Is that the ambulance service?" She asked causing Johan to nod. She took the phone from him, she needed the operator to know how serious Macey's condition was. She stepped away while her partner tried to clear the bystanders away. More people had come out of the bar and were standing around watching what was happening.

"This is Officer Upton, ETA on ambulance she is in critical condition and is vomiting blood" Officer Upton spoke into the phone. "Two minutes, you need to lay her on her left side" the operator responded. Officer Upton relaid the instructions to Johan who gently moved Macey onto her left side laying her down. He heard the ambulance before he saw it and when the paramedics came over to help Macey he was thankful. Johan sat back and buried his face in his hands and sobbed. He was now covered in Macey's blood.
