Forgive us

Sunday rolled around and Macey slept most of the day. She had had very little sleep in the last two days because of her brothers. She was also thinking over what Cherry said about having no regrets. Macey wanted answers but she didn't trust any of her brothers or her father for that matter. She needed to get out of the room and clear her head.

Macey got herself ready and decided to head out to get coffee and then would make her decision about seeing her father or not. As she walked out of the dorm she ran straight into Johan. "Hey pretty girl" Johan said while holding onto Macey still. Macey smiled at Johan, they had spent a few hours talking yesterday as it was a quieter night last night at the bar and she was on the floor. "Hey Johan, what are you doing here?" Macey asked. "Wanting to take you out for lunch" Johan replied cockily. Macey shook her head smiling but followed Johan to his car.

"So have you made a decision?" Johan asked once they were in the car. "I don't trust them at all. It could be a set-up. I was going to ask for the number of where he is staying and speak to them before I decide to go get my answers or not" Macey replied honestly. "You think they would stoop that low?" Johan asked surprised. He got a version of Macey's childhood which was shit father and having to leave at 16. Macey just nodded her head yes not wanting to go into details of what went on in that house.

Johan drove to the bistro on the waterfront for lunch, for Macey a late brunch/lunch. "Come on you can call your brother after we order" Johan said taking Macey's hand and pulling her towards the bistro.

Once they ordered Johan waited for Macey to call her brother. Asher answered the call of the private caller feeling he needed to answer the call. He was with his father at that moment explaining how they had found Macey but she hadn't agreed to come and see him.

"Asher speaking" he answered after the fourth ring. "It's Macey, I want the number for where your father is residing" Macey spoke. "He is our father Mace and you can speak to him now, I'm with him" Asher replied. "No, I want to check if he is really dying" Macey replied. Johan was shocked and Macey looked up at him. Macey wasn't trying to be a bitch she just didn't trust any of them.

"Macey, I'm not lying to you. He is at Unity palliative care unit" Asher replied. "Yeah I don't trust any of you so I will check it out myself" Macey replied shrugging her shoulders. "Does that mean you will be coming to see Dad?" Asher asked hopefully. His father had gone back to sleep already. "I don't know Asher, besides you won't be there anyway. I work weekends and the only day I have off from uni and work is Monday. You will be at work along with everyone else" Macey replied.

There was an awkward silence down the line, Asher had no idea what to say and Macey had said her piece. "Mace" Asher started. "Nope that's all I wanted, I will let you know if I plan on seeing him. Don't come here again Asher. Goodbye," Macey said before hanging up the phone and taking a big breath. "There is more to the story than you are telling me?" Johan questioned earning a nod from Macey before she added " I don't want to talk about it".

Macey made a call to the palliative care unit her father was in. They confirmed he was there and didn't have long left. "If you need a lift, I can take you to see your dad" Johan offered. "It's ok, he is in Sydney, I'll train it down and then catch a bus" Macey replied. "I don't mind driving you, I don't know what they did to you, but I can tell it was bad" Johan replied. "Thanks that would be great but I'm sure you have work on Monday and I sure as hell am not taking time off from work for them" Macey replied. "Monday works for me, just let me know which Monday" Johan replied smiling at Macey.

Macey and Johan spent the rest of the day together just hanging out and having fun. They walked along the beach and even decided to go to the movies. Johan enjoyed spending time with Macey and Macey felt the same about Johan.

As Johan pulled up at Macey's dorm Macey turned to look at him. "I'm going to do it, I'm going to go see him," Macey said. "What day are we going?" Johan asked. He didn't know why but he wanted to be there with Macey. He liked her and knew she hadn't fully been honest about what had gone down with her and her family. "How does tomorrow work for you?" Macey asked. "I'll be here at 9 with coffee" Johan replied.

Macey smiled at Johan, "Nah I'll provide the coffee, it's the least I can do" she said causing Johan to laugh at the girl. "Plus, I'll be paying for petrol" Macey added. "It's a date" Johan replied before realising what he said and turning red. Macey laughed "shit date but I'll take it" she replied leaning in to kiss Johan on the cheek. "Thanks, Johan and I'll see you tomorrow" Macey said before getting out of the car and heading to her dorm room. She still had her laundry to do and knew she wouldn't be getting much sleep tonight.
