Chapter Chapter Seven
Macey didn't have time to dwell on her brothers being here, she had to get organised for work. She needed to work to support herself through uni. She had bills to pay and also had to save for when she finished uni. She would need her own place once uni was finished as she would have to move out of the dorm. Macey shook her head and hoped her brothers weren't waiting for her when she left for work. She had to focus and would worry about her brothers another day. She had a long shift tonight and she knew the bar would be busy.
Macey got herself a snack and then began to get ready for work. Cherry would be here shortly to pick her up. Macey braided her hair and put on some makeup to hide the bags under her eyes. She slipped on her black skirt with her black button-up work shirt. She slipped on her socks and put on her Doc Martins which she had picked up second-hand. They were comfortable and she needed decent shoes as she would be on her feet all night. She was behind the bar tonight serving drinks. She shoved her jacket and her uni textbook in a bag with her phone and keys. She would grab dinner at work and while she ate dinner, she would do a bit of uni reading.
Asher paced back and forward in front of the door leading to the dorms. It had been 30 minutes since Macey went upstairs and Asher had no idea how he was going to get to his sister. Tyler and Diesel were sitting back not sure what to do. Diesel saw the girl he spotted his sister with earlier. He stood up and walked towards her, he remembered she said something about picking Macey up for work.
Diesel approached the girl. "Hey, you are Macey's friend right?" He asked the girl. "Yeh, you were the guy she stormed away from. You an ex?" Cherry asked. "Nah, brother. Umm, so she is working tonight?" Diesel asked the girl. "Yeah we work at the sports bar together on Main Street" Cherry replied. "Oh, is she happy?" Diesel asked the girl. "Yeh, why wouldn't she be?" Cherry replied not knowing what had gone down at all. "Never mind. Thanks" Diesel said before walking away from the girl.
Diesel walked back over to where Tyler was sitting. "Not the time to be picking up girls mate" Tyler stated while chuckling and shaking his head. "She is Macey's friend. I saw them together this morning. They are working tonight at the sports bar on Main Street" Diesel told his brother. "She is happy Ty, she was happy without us and now we are here. We should have left it alone, dad doesn't deserve to see her, hell we don't deserve to see her. She fucken hates us and that's our fault" Diesel continued. "I know mate" Tyler replied nodding his head and then both remained quiet again.
Asher spotted Macey coming down the stairs. She was clearly ready for work. Asher stopped his pacing and waited for his sister to come out of the dorms again. Macey hadn't seen him yet and was softly smiling while talking to someone else. Asher couldn't help but smile at his baby sister. He wished it was him she was talking to and not looking at with hate in her eyes. He shook his head and prepared to speak to Macey.
Macey looked up and saw Asher waiting outside for her. She bid farewell to Jean whom she had been speaking with and headed towards the door. "What the fuck do you want Asher?" Macey seethed out while slamming the door open and stepping outside. Asher stepped aside letting Macey step out of the dorms. "Macey please I just want to talk to you" Asher began. "I don't care he is dying, that piece of shit isn't my father and never will be again. What don't you get? I want nothing to do with him or any of you" Macey stated while pointing her fingers into Asher's chest to make sure he knew she was deadly serious.
Asher looked down at his sister. He saw how broken she really was and he knew it was because of him. He saw the broken little 7-year-old girl who lost her mum and didn't understand what was happening or why her entire family shut her out. Asher reached out and pulled her into his arms wanting to comfort her. He wanted to help his sister mend what they all had broken. "I'm sorry Macey, I'm so fucken sorry" Asher said.
Tyler and Diesel watched on in shock that Macey had let Asher embrace her. They hadn't heard the conversation at all. The next thing they saw was Asher doubling over in pain. Tyler and Diesel ran over to their siblings not sure what had happened.
Macey kneed Asher in the balls. She didn't want him touching her at all. Macey pushed Asher away as he was doubling over in pain. "Don't ever touch me again" Macey fumed out. How dare he put his hands on her and pretend sorry would fix it all. Macey stormed off towards where she knew Cherry's car was. She needed to be away from her so-called brothers as she was sure that she would take it from the others for hurting Asher.
Diesel and Tyler helped Asher to the seat. "What the hell was that?" Diesel asked. Asher shook his head trying to catch his breath due to the pain that Macey had inflicted. He knew he deserved it because he had acted on instinct embracing her after he was the one to cause the broken girl he saw in front of him. "I saw how broken she was and wanted to hug her and did. She didn't like that and kneed me in the balls as I was saying sorry" Asher coughed out shaking his head.
"Fuck" Tyler replied. "Ash maybe Diesel was right. Maybe we should just leave it be. She doesn't want anything to do with us" Tyler continued. "No. She is broken and I caused that" Asher stated trying to stand up to follow where Macey went. "Asher she is going to work at the sports bar" Diesel began. "Ok then that's where we go now" Asher cut Diesel off and tried to walk back to his car without limping.
