Chapter 1182
Abbey finally let out a satisfied grin. With Flora carted away, Abbey was convinced she'd never be seen again-destined for dissection and to become a human specimen!
"Ha-ha-ha!" Abbey laughed maniacally, her voice hoarse and ragged. She was weak from blood loss, yet the thought of Flora's impending doom filled her with glee. "Flora, you'll join me in hell! Ha-ha-ha!"
A young man kicked her fiercely, pressing down hard on Abbey's wound. "You could die a thousand times, and my sister will still live a good life!"
Abbey shrieked in agony, but her eyes glistened with the thrill of revenge. The young man, seething with anger, ordered, "Get two people to take her away, slice off her flesh piece by piece, and make her eat it! Keep going until there's nothing left, then break her bones and feed them to the dogs!"
"To the rest of you, follow me now! Aiden, gather everyone!"
He was hell-bent on rescuing his sister!
"But sir..." Aiden hesitated.
"Go!"
For his sister, he'd stop at nothing!
The young man and his crew hurried off, while Moss and Beck snuck in. "Boss, what's our move now?"
"Beck, get out there and spread the word. Have our people ready to storm the island anytime!"
The island was heavily fortified, and though it was risky to attack now, Flora's safety was worth every gamble.
"Got it."
Beck dashed out. Outside, the young man was busy plotting, all for Flora.
...
In the lab, Flora followed the old man inside. The overpowering smell of disinfectant mixed with the undeniable odor of blood made Flora wrinkle her nose.
"The professor's in the middle of an experiment. We'll go in shortly," the old man said, stopping at the glass door to watch Eula work. It was a silent rule-never disturb the professor during an experiment.
Flora paused too, peering through the glass. The experiment looked... familiar.
She observed Eula's steps and raised an eyebrow slightly. "The professor's already at this stage!" the old man exclaimed, eyes ablaze. "Looks like this time, it'll be a success!"
He'd never gotten this far before! Flora gave him a sideways glance. "You're overthinking it. He's about to fail."
The old man's face fell, displeased with Flora's remark. This girl, running her mouth. She barely knew basic medical skills, yet dared to criticize the professor's work! "Boom!"
A loud explosion suddenly echoed from the lab! The old man was startled as Eula emerged, soot-covered and grim-faced.
"Professor, don't lose heart," he rushed over. "You've made significant progress to get this far."
Eula's face was streaked with soot. Without a word, he walked over to Flora, his gaze heavy. "How did you know my experiment would fail?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Flora replied. "I'm only surprised you messed up such a simple experiment."
"Professor, don't listen to her. It was just a slip, and this experiment is indeed tough. It's understandable you hit a snag."
Flora chuckled, retorting sharply, "If this is tough for you, how incompetent can you get?"
The old man: "..."
Eula, expressionless, stared at Flora. "So, you're the woman Aiden brought back, Flora, right?"
Flora lifted her chin. "Yep, your worst nightmare."
Eula was taken aback, his sinister eyes narrowing. "Aren't you afraid of me?"
Right now, she was practically at his mercy.
"Afraid of what?"
Flora scoffed, taking a seat with an air of defiance. These past few days had been stifling, and she realized how liberating it was to speak her mind. No wonder Crimson and Kruz reveled in it.
She never vented her frustrations on loved ones. But Eula was meant to be her foe. Why would she show him any courtesy? Not a chance.
Eula hadn't met anyone so audacious. In the past, he'd have had her restrained in the lab, but now he was more curious about why she was so sure his experiment would fail. "I've heard you're a globally recognized medical prodigy, Flora."
"And you must be the world-renowned medical fool."
Eula: ""
He paused, choosing to ignore her jab. "Why did you say my experiment would fail? Can you conduct it?"
He'd never been this patient before. If Flora dared to mock him again, he'd lose it. His tolerance for her was solely fueled by his thirst for scientific knowledge.
"Of course, I can," Flora replied nonchalantly.
This experiment was one she and
Jules had worked on together, aimed at altering human genetics.t was because of this experiment that Club 257 had hidden Jules away, catching the medical community's attention. t sto
"Then show me!" Eula exclaimed, excited. He'd forgotten he brought Flora here to be an experiment herself.
"I'm not doing it," Flora flatly declined.
"Flora, don't get too cocky!" Eula pulled a gun, aiming it at her. "Either show me the experiment or die right now!"
Flora met his cold gaze fearlessly and provocatively smirked. Eula had rarely been this angry. His finger twitched on the trigger but ultimately didn't pull it. "What will it take for you to do it?"
His entire life was devoted to
medical experiments. He'd been working on this one for nearly half a year without success. Flora claimed she could do it, so he extended his patience to her. But she better not be bluffing, or else...
