Finding Emery

Today daddy and I are nearly at Uncle Mike's house. I'm so excited cause I get to see my brothers and cousins. You see we have been running from bad men who mummy owed money to. She got some white stuff from them and then she put it up her nose. I watched and then this white foam came out of her mouth and mummy didn't wake up. Well she was awake, her eyes were open but she didn't move or speak. That was on my fourth birthday and when daddy came home from getting my cake he called the police and ambulance and then mummy was gone.

Since then we have stayed hidden and slowly made our way back to uncle Mike's. We have had to run a few times when the bad men were close. Daddy had rung uncle Mike and told him we were almost there and would be there today. I was very excited as we walked through the bush. Daddy was looking around the area making sure no one was following us.

"Emmy, you need to stay quiet" Daddy whispered to me while he covered my mouth with his hand. I nodded my head understanding while he continued to scan the area. "Shit, Emmy we need to run" Daddy whispered and just like that we were running with daddy dragging me along with him. I had my bluey back pack on with some clothes shoved inside and my pink teddy in it. Daddy had a back pack too which had his clothes and papers in it.

We had been running for about 20 minutes and my legs were hurting. I had tears running down my face and was struggling to breath. Daddy looked at me and stopped running. "Baby, I'm so sorry. I want you to keep running ok. Take my bag and run that way. You will get to a road and follow it to the end, uncle Mike will be waiting ok baby?" Daddy stated looking behind me. "No daddy we go together" I replied. "Emery this is important. You need to go to uncle Mike he is waiting" daddy yelled at me. Daddy never yells at me. The tears ran down my face faster now.

Daddy pulled me into his chest and hugged me like his life depended on it. "I'm sorry baby, so sorry. I love you and I will be right behind you. Go straight to uncle Mike Emmy. I will see you there. Remember I will always love you baby and never ever take your necklace off" Daddy said before kissing me on the head and pushing me forward. "I love you Emmy, don't look back baby and keep running till you get to uncle Mike" Daddy called out.

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. I heard screaming though and a big Bang. I ducked into a shed and dropped the bags down. I knew I was suppose to keep running but I'm so scared. I just want daddy. I could hear people calling out sweetheart but I didn't know them.

Soon it got dark and the noise stopped. I did what daddy said not to and went back to look for him. I found my daddy with blood on his head. His eyes were open and he was looking at the sky. "Daddy please get up, I'm scared" I cried throwing my body onto daddy's. He was so cold and didn't move. I tried to shake him awake but just like with mummy, his eyes were open but he wasn't moving. I ran and grabbed a blanket for us and then laid down with him.

I was woken up with people talking again so I took the blanket leaving daddy and ran back to the shed. I hid in the shed again. Daddy had food in his bag so I ate some of the food and then waited till the voices left. I headed back to daddy who was laying in the same spot and laid with him hoping he would wake up soon.

Four sleeps later and he still hadn't woken up. When I went back to daddy he was gone. I had gone to the toilets at the beach which had showers and took a shower and when I got back he was gone. I'm so glad daddy woke up and I'm sure he would come back to find me soon. I just had to wait. I would stay in the shed when it was dark and then during the day I would stay at the place daddy last was. He had done this before and always came and got me quickly.

Micheal got a knock at the door four days after his brother was suppose to be here with his daughter. He swung the door open thinking it was them to be met with two police officers. "Michael Quake, I regret to inform you that your brother Marcus Quake's body has been found in the national park this morning. He was shot between the eyes and it is being treated as a murder" the officers said.

Taz, Chase, Jasper and Seb had joined Michael at the door expecting to see Emmy and Marcus. "Where is Emery?" Michael asked. "Who?" The officer asked. "Emery, Marcus's daughter. She was with him. Where is she? She is four" Michael asked. He was worried the people who shot his brother had got a hold of Emmy and would use her to cover her mothers debt. "I'm unaware of any child who was with him. He was found alone and had nothing on him but his wallet in his back pocket" the officer stated.

Michael slammed the door in the officers face and headed to his office with the boys following him. You see Michael was the leader of the Quake's, a gang who ran the underground in Sydney. Marcus had begged him for help so he and his girlfriend could disappear when they found out Jacqui was pregnant with a girl and he did. A girl in this life would be a target. Shit hit the fan when Jacqui got herself and Marcus hooked on ice when Emmy was 2 years old. He had got a call on Emmy's birthday saying he was running home because they were in trouble.

Michael began ordering his men to find Emery. He had to find the girl and protect her and then he would deal with the people who killed his brother. The four boys and Michael joined the search for Emery wanting to bring her home. The police also put out an alert for Emery but no one could find her anywhere.
