Chapter Epilogue
Four years later
Bailey came running through the front door wailing. She had just come back from her first day of primary school. It was suppose to be the best day ever and instead it was her worst.
It had started out great with her dada and her brothers dropping her at school. She was so excited and was going to the same school as Freddie. He was in year 2 but they had stayed friends all this time. He had Nick named her strawberry after the incident with her biological family. He had promised her he was going to show her the school and they would play together.
When Bailey turned up in the morning with her brothers he was waiting with his friends. Freddie's friends started to tease Bailey about having three fathers and no mummy. Freddie had done nothing. Her brothers had scared them all off and had calmed Bailey down enough for her to go to her class. Nelson had tried to speak with Freddie but he too ran away.
Bailey had had a great morning making new friends including Jasmine and Tony who were twins. She had spent the morning painting with her new friends. When it came to first break the trio played together with a few other kids they met in class. When it came to lunch, Freddie and his friends found Bailey and the teasing started.
Bailey began to get upset again but Freddie stepped forward and began to call her strawberry. When he called her strawberry on the playground she thought he was going to be her bestest friend again. That didn't happen because his friends then started to make fun of how she got her nick name. They screamed at her to flash her underwear and teased her about having no mummy. Freddie joined in which hurt Bailey more. Jasmine and Tony pulled Bailey away from the group of bullies but after school it started again.
Harry picked up his granddaughter and saw the tears in her eyes. Freddie was watching as his friends were throwing rocks at Bailey and realised things had gone to far. When Harry got Bailey home quickly and she ran straight into the house screaming she hated school and was never going back. Brax, Bodie and Blair were shocked to see their baby sister so distressed. Nelson went to take off after her to check on Bailey.
Freddie had shown up with his mum and his baby sister knocking on the door. Brax answered the door seeing Freddie standing there looking at the ground. "Go on Freddie" his mother said not sounding very happy with the kid. The brothers had accepted Freddie after he had protected Bailey from her biological father. "Can I speak to Bailey please?" Freddie whispered out. Brax nodded his head and went to get his sister.
Brax walked into the room where Bailey was being comforted by Nelson. She had told him all about what had happened and what Freddie had done to her. She was begging to not go back to school at all. "Freddie is at the door for you sweetheart" Brax stated rubbing his hand down her hair. He had no idea why Bailey was so upset.
Bailey jumped up and grabbed the fish teddy which Freddie had given her the first time they met. She stomped down the stairs and straight to the door. Brax and Nelson followed which caused Bodie and Blair to stand up to see what was going on.
Freddie watched Bailey stomp towards him. He felt guilty as he could see how upset Bailey was. She was his bestest friend and he had hurt her today. "I'm really sorry" Freddie started. Bailey cut him off by throwing the fish at him "I hate you Freddie. Take your fish you fish head" Bailey said before slamming the door in Freddie's face and throwing herself at nearest person who happened to be Brax.
Brax took his sister into the kitchen not knowing what the hell had happened. He had never seen his sister so upset at all. Not even when she had fallen over and hurt herself which she had done plenty of times in the last four years.
Bailey was close to all her brothers and had a special relationship with each person. She was still a daddies girl for sure but she was close to all her brothers. On the weekends she would have sleep overs with all her brothers in her room. She had each of them wrapped around her little finger and none of them minded at all. She was even going to be the flower girl at Brax's wedding in a few weeks.
Nelson opened the door to Freddie who now had tears in his eyes. His mother was telling him he deserved that for what he had done to the little girl. "Freddie, you really hurt Bailey telling them about her underwear being the reason you call her strawberry" Nelson told the little boy. Bodie and Blair were pissed and stormed into the kitchen to comfort their baby sister.
"Bailey, Freddie is a fish head" Blair stated before taking out the ice cream from the freezer and grabbing spoons for him and his sister. Bailey giggled hearing her brother call Freddie a fish head. She had said it when she was angry but it was funny now. Brax raised his left eyebrow at his brother. "What? He told everyone about how she got her nick name. Maybe you should call him Spider-Man?" Blair retorted. Bailey began to laugh a lot. She didn't know why she would call him Spider-Man but it was funny.
The boys loved to hear Bailey giggling. After her biological father had hurt Nelson she went backwards for about a year. Nelson had had to leave his job because she would become hysterical if he wasn't within her sight. Bailey's biological father was sent to jail but later found dead in his cell and no one knew if it was a suicide or not. Blair had started uni to become a teacher. He was in his final year at uni as he started a commerce degree but change after spending so much time with Bailey. He had a passion for working with kids and his father and brothers encouraged him to pursue his dream.
Brax had settled down with a girl he met at his work. Bailey had instantly liked the woman and so had Brax. They were to be married in a few weeks after Bailey told Brax he had to marry the girl. Bodie was still happily living at home and had no plans of settling down. Blair was dating and only Bailey had met them and she liked them. She had pinky promised to keep it secret from everyone until Blair was ready.
Nelson returned to the kitchen holding the fish that Bailey had thrown at Freddie. "Bailey, Freddie asked me to give you this back" Nelson stated. Bailey shook her head no, she was hurt and upset. "He is a fish head" Bodie stated earning a nod from Bailey who was shoving more chocolate ice cream in her mouth. "Sweetheart maybe you should hear him out" Nelson stated. Bailey glared at Nelson who sighed. Who knew a 5 year old girl turning 6 in three days would be such a handful? But Nelson never regretted adopting his daughter. Everyone was thankful that they had found Bailey.
