Finding Bailey

Chapter 13

Bailey finished the banana and yoghurt and the bottle was now cooled down enough for her to drink. Blair cleaned up his sister and grabbed the bottle. He headed into the lounge room sitting down with Bailey who was babbling a lot. She seemed to have found her voice since Friday when they found her. "Bot" Bailey cheered out as Blair showed her the bottle. "Yep this is your bottle" Blair told his sister who smiled up at Blair.

Bailey finished her bottle quickly but didn't seem to be tired at all. She in fact had found her foot while drinking the bottle and was holding onto it for dear life. It was funny to watch because she was trying to straighten her legs but with her holding her foot she couldn't and she was becoming frustrated. Blair noticed the difference in her babbling when she was happy it was cheerful but as she became frustrated the tone changed to a deeper sound.

Blair removed Bailey's hand from her foot allowing her to straighten her legs. She seemed happy with that until she realised she wasn't holding her foot anymore. Bailey dropped her bottom lip looking at Blair thinking he took away her new toy. Blair handed Bailey the toy remote which she seemed to like and that distracted her from not having her foot in her hand.

About an hour later Bailey was getting tired just as the doorbell went off. Blair picked up his sister and headed to the door. "Delivery where do you want it?" The guy asked not looking who answered the door. The guy was delivering furniture for Bailey's room. "Oh upstairs first door on the left please" Blair answered. He and his brothers had cleared the room out yesterday to turn it into Bailey's room. The guy looked up seeing Blair holding Bailey. He couldn't help but smile when Bailey buried her face into Blair's neck. "Cute kid. I'm guessing she is about 1 and your first" the guy stated. Blair looked at Bailey who was hiding. "She is my baby sister and she is 18 months old. She is a little small for her age" Blair explained.

The guy was shocked but nodded his head. Bailey was definitely small for her age. "I'll just grab the cot and things, did you need a hand setting the cot up?" The guy asked. "That would be great, I just have to change her nappy and then I can help" Blair answered. "Ah I think she might be tired" the delivery guy stated seeing Bailey pulling her ears and rubbing her eyes. Blair looked on and nodded, "yeh I actually may need to put her to sleep sorry" Blair stated.

Blair changed Bailey's nappy and quickly brought her to his shoulder where she rested her head and began to doze off. The guy took the cot and dressing table into the room and began to set them up. It was simple really and he had done it many times. It took about 30 minutes to have it all set up ready to go.

Blair was sitting on the couch holding Bailey while she slept. He was just smiling at nothing. He loved the feeling of Bailey in his arms and he was so thankful that she hadn't lost the plot when she couldn't see dada like she had been doing over the weekend. "All done" the guy called out. Blair got up still holding on to Bailey to thank the guy.

"Thanks for that" Blair stated as he met the guy at the bottom of the stairs. "No dramas, she is a cutey. I remember spending hours holding my son while he slept on me. He is now three and hates being held" the guy laughed out. "Savour the feeling mate cause soon everything is no" the delivery guy added. "Thanks I will" Blair answered before he saw the guy out and closed the door.

Nelson had got a lot of work done in the morning incase Bailey had lost it when she saw he wasn't at home. He knew she was safe with Blair and was glad he hadn't got a call yet. He had seen the video of her saying Blah and dada and couldn't help but smile at it. He truely wished he was her dada and had began to look into adoption. The only catch was he would need both her mother and father to sign the paper work for him to be able to adopt Bailey. He didn't care she wasn't biologically his, to him she was his daughter and to her he was her dada.

Just before lunch there was a frantic knock on Nelson's office door and he could hear a baby crying. "Come in" Nelson called out. Blair rushed into his father's office with Bailey who was hysterically crying. Nelson stood up and took Bailey from his son. "It's ok princess I got you" Nelson whispered to her.

Bailey immediately looked at who had spoken to her and saw it was dada. She reached her hand and touched Nelson's face to make sure it was him and then stopped crying. "Dada" Bailey rushed out earning a smile from Nelson. "Dada is right here baby girl" Nelson stated. Bailey snuggled into Nelson's chest and sighed.

Blair was pale but sighed as soon as Bailey stopped crying. "What happened? I told you to call if she was unsettled" Nelson asked his son. "She was fine even had a sleep, she woke up 40 minutes ago and lost it when she didn't spot you. I changed her and put her in the car. She screamed the entire way and I couldn't get her out of the car because she went stiff for 15 minutes. I would of called but I left my phone at home" Blair told his father.

Nelson calmed his children down reassuring Blair he had done nothing wrong at all. He also told him how proud of him he was for caring for his sister by himself. Blair felt better as he thought he had done something wrong. Once everyone was settled Nelson called his assistant and asked her to get lunch ordered in for the three of them. He assumed Blair would be hanging around for a bit and he was right. Bailey refused to let Nelson go even when they were both eating, she didn't want Dada disappearing again.
