Finding Bailey

Chapter 12

It was Monday morning and Blair was freaking out. He was suppose to care for Bailey today by himself. His brothers and dad were heading to work. He knew how to make a bottle and change his sister but he was worried she would be upset that dada would be leaving. She always liked to have dada in sight. He would only be home for a couple of hours this morning until the furniture was delivered for Bailey's room, then he could take Bailey into the office to see Dada. Nelson had switched cars with Blair last night because of the car seat.

"Dad what if she won't settle?" Blair rushed out. He didn't want his sister not to like him. Yes it may be irrational but Blair didn't want to be the least favourite brother. "Mate I'm a phone call away and the guy is literally going to be here in an hour. Just give her some breakfast and a bottle. If she is to unsettled then I'll come home" Nelson assured his youngest son.

Brax and Bodie were pouting for an entirely different reason. They were jealous of Blair who was staying home alone with Bailey. They both wanted alone time with her. So far everyone had been home so if they were spending time with Bailey, it was never alone. "Why can't we just take the morning off?" Brax asked his dad. Nelson deadpanned his son, "Seriously? She is living here from now on. You can not take every day off. How are you going to react when she starts day care or worse school for that matter?" Nelson stated shaking his head at his sons.

"She isn't ever starting school. We will home school her. There are boys at school" Bodie rushed out dramatically. "No boys will get near my sister" Blair commented. Bailey was happily babbling away in the lounge room playing with the pretend remote. "She will be going to school and you can't keep her away from boys for life" Nelson stated earning glares from all his sons. "No boys will get near her. She has three older brothers who will beat them up" Brax stated and he was being serious. "Yeh cause grown arse men beating five year olds will go down well" Nelson told them.

All three boys stopped and didn't know what to say. They had in fact said they would beat boys up that go near Bailey but she was so much younger then them that it would be impossible. "Home schooling for the win" Brax piped up. Nelson couldn't help but shake his head at his sons. Bailey was only a baby and already they wanted to lock her up.

Nelson headed over to Bailey kissing her on the head. "Now I know why I am the favourite. Be good princess and I will see you later. Don't give your brother to much trouble" Nelson told her. Bailey smiled at Nelson "dada" she chirped out before babbling away. Nelson nodded his head like he understood every word she was saying earning a loud giggle from Bailey. "That's right they are being silly" Nelson stated before adding "bye princess" and heading towards the front door.

Blair, Bodie and Brax stared after their father who had told Bailey they were being silly. They felt betrayed and the fact that Bailey had laughed made it worse. "We are not being silly. Boys are no good near my baby sister" Bodie pouted earning a little glare from Bailey. Bailey was trying to see where Dada went and assumed Bodie was in the way but Bodie didn't know that and felt horrible. "Ok ok we were silly you can see boys" he dramatic cried earning glares from Brax and Blair. "What? She was glaring at me and I won't be her least favourite brother. That's one of your jobs" Bodie added before going to say goodbye to his baby sister.

Bailey was searching the room for Dada but couldn't spot him. Blair was looking at his sister and saw the change in her face and quickly rushed over sitting near Bailey trying to distract her. Brax kissed the top of Bailey's head before also heading off to work. He wanted to stay with his sister but he also knew he couldn't not turn up to work because he only recently started at his job.

"Bailey do you want your bottle?" Blair asked his baby sister trying to get her attention away from every one leaving. "Bot" Bailey repeated. "Oh gosh, yes bot do you want a bot?" Blair gushed out. He couldn't believe he heard his sister's second word. Bailey continued to babble away to Blair but repeated 'bot' several times before lifting her hands up to Blair.

Blair immediately scooped his baby sister into his arms and headed into the kitchen to make her a bottle. Bailey was holding on to Blair tightly still looking for dada. "Bailey can you say Blair?" Blair asked his sister while he waited for the bottle to heat up. Bailey looked at her brother and cocked her head to the side as though she was studying him. "Blair" he repeated. "Blah" Bailey repeated.

Blair grabbed his phone "Blair that's right Bailey say Blair again for me" Blair excitedly said causing Bailey to giggle. Blair was now filming Bailey, the bottle long forgotten. "Blah" Bailey repeated and then giggled before babbling dada. Blair continued to film Bailey as she babbled Blah and dada over and over again.

The water boiled over the saucepan alerting Blair to the bottle he forgot all about. "Crap" Blair stated putting his sister on the ground and turn the stovetop off. He put the saucepan in the sink and then looked down at Bailey "bot" Bailey stated looking at her big brother. "Well it's a little hot, let's have some yoghurt and banana first then a bottle yeah?" Blair asked. Bailey just looked on as Blair grabbed the yoghurt out of the fridge and a banana. He sat Bailey in the high chair and cut some banana for her putting it on the plate. He opened the yoghurt and dipped the spoon it handing it to Bailey. Bailey seemed to like feeding herself except when it came to her bottle, then she liked other people holding it for her.

Blair sent the video to his dad and brothers. He was now the favourite brother clearly because Bailey had said his name before Brax and Bodie. Immediately he got a text back from Bodie 'no fair this is why I should of stayed home'. This made Blair laugh, Bodie had always been dramatic.
