Chapter CHAPTER 180
Chosen By The Moon
Chapter 180
Lewis POV
The more I witnessed other people learning things about Dylan, the more baffled I was by their reaction. To everyone else she seemed to be coping well, so when they find out just how much she endured, it always caused shock to take over their features.
She looked exhausted yesterday, and she seemed so frail it almost broke me, but everything had been so constant with her, that she barely had any time to relax, I admit I was starting to question wether she actually let herself have adequate rest. It just seemed like, as soon as one problem had been solved or dealt with… another one would jump back into its place. So her internal anguish was completely expected, other people however, always seem so shocked when they discover something knew about her time with Josh. I personally just wished I could help her.
“This much head trauma, well, it’s an uncommon occurrence, most people who are bought in here with this amount of extensive scarring are already passed.” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing… so was he saying that Dylan should have been dead already? I guess my girl had even more questions than what I did. She look completely bewildered.
“Hang on a second. So you are trying to tell me that I should be… what? Dead?!” The doctor simply nodded at her words and swallowed thickly before bowing really really low to her. There were already rumors swirling around about Dylan being blessed by the moon goddess, if it got out that she her injuries were so extensive that she should be brain dead and yet she was in fact absolutely fine, it would cause even more talk. V already didn’t like the idea of Dylan being here. She really did admire her a lot but I think she was just worried about this place, she has done everything she could to keep it secret and thriving. Dylan had actual ideas of rebellion, V just wanted guaranteed safety. However Dylan, well she knows the way of the world, she knows that complete safety is not possible.
“That’s exactly what I’m saying, your grace. You should be dead… or at the very least, you should have some brain damage.” I watched as Dylan’s face once again took on a deep frown, and felt my heart contract at how much she constantly goes through. The poor girl needed a break. She had gone from fearing pregnancy to having injuries related to brain damage, her mental capacity was completely beyond her years to be able to deal with everything so well. Still I was extremely concerned with just how much more she could take.
“So how am I
I still alive t then?”
“Honestly, I can’t really give you many answers. You haven’t been marked, which means you don’t share our healing abilities, so that’s ruled out. From what I can see on your scan, the injuries, to your head never received proper care or treatment. The damage indicates complete negligence and self healing, honestly, it’s quite remarkable really. If I didn’t know any better I’d probably assume you yourself were a lycan.” The doctor chuckled awkwardly as he looked at my girls face. She didn’t care much for his playful yet completely outrageous remark. You could clearly see that Doctor Bennet had complete wonder and fascination written all over his features as he looked at Dylan. He too was questioning wether the rumors were true about her. You could see it clear as crystal in his curios eyes.
Don’t get me wrong, I unded
his thought process completely. Not only had she healed shockingly well for
someone who was human, but the amount of abuse she had taken without it having long term physical damage was commendable.
I admit myself that she fascinates me too. The way her mind worked was captivating, lycan or not, she was the strongest person I’d ever known/there really was no disputing that. Every single time she did something to oppose my kind she did so with a certain level of determination and fearlessness that drives me to follow her, and I wasn’t alone. She doesn’t fight just for herself, but for everybody she felt deserved it, she truly was a natural born leader.
