Chasing The Broken CEO

Samantha seemed very excited, while I could almost feel my chest tightening because of the sudden fear that eats me up. She asked the housemaid to prepare some snacks, and then as we walked through the pathway that will lead us to the swimming pool area, she kept telling me a lot of things about her brother- things that I am not aware of.

She also mentioned that her parents keep asking Evan to announce our engagement very soon.

"My brother informed us that he would talk to you about it first. I hope he already did that. Knowing my brother, he is so slow when it comes to this kind of thing," Samantha added when we arrived in their swimming pool area.

I only shook my head. Evan hasn't told me about this thing yet. Whenever we meet, we only end up fighting because of his attitude issue. Samantha frowned as she shook her head in disbelief. She glanced at the wide swimming pool. I did the same and we both saw the familiar figure of someone having a good dip. He is like an athlete swimmer.

"I apologize, Nathalie. My brother is undeniably insane. We can't read what is in his head," Samantha stated, dismayed after knowing the truth. She glanced my way and gave me a sympathetic smile. "Perhaps he will mention it once he gets to speak with alone. I am sorry if he's cranky and has an ugly behaviour. I still hope that you give this arrangement a chance. I am sure you can help him heal himself. Anyway, I'll leave both of you here so you guys can talk."

I didn't get what she was trying to imply. I only smiled and gave her a nod. My gaze followed her when she walked towards a spiral stair. She ran upstairs gracefully.

I let out a heavy sigh. She is confident that Evan and I will work things out. She is very hopeful that kind. I do not want to break her hopes but if only she would see how her brother treats me. Maybe at some point, she will change her opinion about this arrangement.

And did she mention that I can help her brother heal? Was she pertaining to the heartache her brother has experienced due to his failed past relationship? Does that really contribute a lot of negative thoughts to Evan reason why he act in a ruthless way?

I find it really lame.

"And here you are..." a familiar baritone spoke behind me.

The fear in my chest automatically arose. I turned to him and saw his damped body. I stepped back and examined him from head to toe. I swallowed the lump in my throat as I realized that he has a perfect body figure.

His broad chest is dazzling. I looked down and found his perfectly shaped abs. I blinked my eyes twice and looked up again to meet his gaze.

There I saw his devilish smile again. He grabbed his towel from the sun lounger near us and then tilted his head when he stared back at me. I frowned as I didn't like the way he stares at me. It is full of intense and is sending shivers up to my spine.

I looked away after a few seconds. I can't really meet his eyes when he's like this. It's like he is asking me if I have a death wish.

I cleared my throat. I looked at the pool instead and tried to compose myself. I wanted to show him that I am not afraid of him. I raised one brow and cross my arms on my chest.

I sighed as if I am bored, but deep inside; my heart is already beating fast.

"I wanted to visit you at your office instead but my dad informed me that "

"Why don't you look at me and say that straight to my face, Risha?" he cut me off with his voice full of menace.

His intense voice literally made my heart jump. Unwilling to meet his pierced eyes, I still tried to look at him so that he would not feel that I am afraid of him. As much as possible, I want to fake my emotion as I can't let my guard down when I am with him.

"I just game here because my parents wanted me to apologize," I managed to inform him despite the aggressive beatings of my heart.

"Uh, huh..." he smirked at me.

He put the towel on his left shoulder and then he stepped closer to me. I swallowed the lump in my throat, and stepped back automatically. Seriously, his menacing stare makes me want to run for my life!

"I didn't really want to come here, alright? So, whatever runs around in your head, it has to stop! Don't make false conclusion just because you're seeing me here right now. I didn't want this!" I hissed.

He nodded with his smirk still plastered on his lips. I shivered when I noticed him looking from head to toe. My cheeks blushed immediately because of what he did. He then run his fingers through his damped hair and shook his head. Darn it!

"But I won't apologize because you said so many bad things to me yesterday," I mumbled despite the fear in my chest. "Please don't think differently. This visit does not have any meaning "I was not able to finish my sentence when he stepped closer to me, again.

I cleared my throat and made a few steps back again. It feels like my heart will come out of my chest any second. What is he trying to do? Does he really need to scare me like this?

His eyes were fixated on me. His ruthless side is activated again.

"As far as I remember, you swore that I will be the one chasing you," the side of his lips curled up.

"Huh?" my forehead creased.

"You said that you will make me chase you..." he uttered intensely that made me feel uncomfortable. I swallowed hard when he pulled me on my waste leaving only a few inches distance between the two of us. I froze up as I felt his damped body on mine. "Why did you come here then? Are you really going to apologize? The way I see it, you are really up with this chase." He said huskily.

I was about to punch his chest but he was able to stop me and grabbed my hand, leaving me so helpless. He then pulled me closer to him until our bodies became so close that I could almost feel his muscles and... Damn it!

My heart pounded aggressively at this point. I have never been this close to any man before!

He leaned forward and I felt his lips on my ear that literally sent shivers up to my spine. My mouth ran dry as I really felt that I am in trouble right now. My body froze up when I felt his cool mint breathe on my skin. "Why are you chasing me badly, Risha Nathalie Saavedra?"
