Chapter 938
"So... How are things going with Miss Payne?" Sydney's tone carried a hint of probing.
Theodore remained silent.
After a moment, Sydney asked, "Theo, is something wrong?"
"Do you really want me to get along well with Aurora? I want you to be honest with me," Theodore said.
Sydney was silent for a few seconds before she spoke. "Yes, I think she's a good match for you. Since things are over between you and Rose, why not embrace a new relationship?"
A new relationship? Theodore let out a mocking laugh. "Mom, when I was with Cynthia, why didn't you approve of her like this? But now, with Aurora, you do?"
"Aurora is a better fit than Cynthia. Back then, I thought there was still a chance between you and Rosalie, but things are different now. Rosalie has already married Sebastian. She's moved on." Sebastian. It was always Sebastian.
Theodore's heart hurt as if it were being cut by a knife. He was also furious.
"Let me ask you something. Were you aware of Rosalie's pregnancy all along?" Theodore asked.
Sydney's heart skipped a beat. "Theo, have you found out? Have you seen them?"
Hearing her answer, Theodore gripped the bedsheet tightly, his knuckles turning white. "So you did know all along. Why didn't you tell me? Why?"
"I'm sorry. I wanted to tell you, but... but at the time, Rose didn't want me to say anything. She didn't think it was necessary."
The worst had happened. Theodore now knew that Rosalie was pregnant with his child, and that she had given birth.
Sydney felt a deep sadness. Theodore must be devastated.
As his mother, she felt guilty, yet it seemed that things had turned out this way due to fate.
"Of course, it wasn't necessary!" Theodore gripped his phone tightly. "She had Sebastian's child. You all thought there was no need to tell me. I was the only fool kept in the dark. found out only after the child was already born! Now I finally understand why Rose chose Sebastian in the end-because she had a child with him. Of course she would choose him!"
Theodore's voice was filled with sorrow and anguish, even tinged with a touch of self-mockery. All along, he had been the fool-a complete and utter fool.
Holding onto a glimmer of hope and foolishly moved by his own feelings, he had waited, hoping that Rosalie might return to him, even if just a sliver of a chance existed.
Yet, he hadn't anticipated that he would be the last to find out that Rosalie had even given birth to Sebastian's child. Sydney was stunned.
So Theodore believed that Rosalie's child was Sebastian's? From his tone, it was clear he did.
She had no idea what method Sebastian had used to give Theodore this impression.
Sydney had nearly let the truth slip out just now. She had thought Theodore knew, but now she realized he didn't.
The cat was still in the bag, as if fate itself were aiding Sebastian, leaving her with no recourse.
After a long while, Sydney sighed.
"Theo, I'm sorry. I didn't tell you because was afraid it would break your heart. After all, she was pregnant with Sebastian's child, and back then, you were in a dark place. I was worried you wouldn't handle it well."
Saying such a lie pained Sydney deeply. Both men were her sons, and she found herself caught in an impossible position.
"So, this was all for my own good, wasn't it?" Theodore retorted.
Sydney remained silent, not knowing what to say.
