Chapter 1166
In her memory, Joe had controlled every aspect of her life, dictating what she could wear and where she could go. It wasn't about him helping or making her successful.
"Mrs. Turner, what's your point? Even if what you say is true, does that justify hurting Yvonne?" Nina snapped, still convinced that Joe's obsession with Yvonne was the reason for her suffering.
After seeing Joe's erratic behavior today, Nina was more certain than ever that Yvonne needed to get away from him.
Winona scoffed coldly, rising to her feet, and pointed at Yvonne. "Didn't you say you were leaving? Then go. Leave for good. I want to see if you're really going to walk away or if this is just another one of your games.
"I'm not like Joe. I have no feelings for you," Winona said, her tone harsh and emotionless, which was exactly what Yvonne had been hoping for.
But still, she hesitated. Joe was in the emergency room, and she couldn't just leave him behind. She couldn't bring herself to walk away.
"Fine, we'll go. But Mrs. Turner, please make sure your husband stays away from Yvonne," Nina interjected, furious that the one responsible for all the pain was now playing the victim. She wouldn't let Yvonne be mistreated any longer. With that, Nina grabbed Yvonne's hand and led her away.
Nash, who had remained silent throughout the confrontation, waited until they were in the car to ask softly, "Yvonne, do you still want to leave?"
Nina was shocked. "Why wouldn't she? You've seen what Joe's like. She has to leave. Yvonne doesn't need his so-called 'help' anymore."
Yvonne bit her lip and spoke quietly, "I'll leave after he wakes up. No matter what, the car accident happened because of me. I can't just walk away without taking responsibility."
Nina, frustrated but understanding, squeezed Yvonne's hand. "Alright. You'll stay with us for now, and I'll keep an ear out for any news about Joe. As soon as there's an update, I'll let you know."
"Thank you, Nina," Yvonne said gratefully, though the words felt stuck in her throat. There were so many things she wanted to say, but none of them would come out.
Having decided to leave, Yvonne
knew she needed to make some plans. No matter what, certain things needed closure, especially where Joe was concerned. She had to give back everything tied to him, starting with her art exhibit, Since Joe had helped set it up, she felt it was only right to cancel it.
When Nina learned of her plan, she immediately supported it. The two arranged a meeting with the investors to discuss the matter.
At the cafe where they met, Nina noticed that someone seemed to be following them. Not knowing who it was, she chose to remain cautious and stay quiet.
Once they met the investors, there
was the usual round of polite greetings. The investors praised every piece of Yvonne's artwork, pointing out several notable pieces as ifto show they had done their homework.
Yvonne smiled modestly, preparing to bring up the idea of canceling the exhibit. Just as she was about to speak, a waiter interrupted.
The waiter, setting down their drinks, looked at Yvonne with wide eyes. "Miss Yvonne, are you the one hosting the art exhibit?"
"I am," Yvonne replied, acknowledging it.
The waiter covered her mouth in excitement, tears brimming in her eyes. "I can't believe I'm meeting you. I'm such a fan!"
It turned out she was an admirer of Yvonne's work.
Seizing the moment, the investors proposed organizing another exhibit in a different part of the city. Yvonne hesitated.
Nina quickly jumped in, "Mr. Frank, I'm sorry, but Yvonne is quite busy at the moment and doesn't have time to manage another exhibit."
The investor chuckled. "Miss Yvonne only needs to provide more excellent artwork. We'll handle the rest with our team."
Nina was about to respond, but the
excited waiter grabbed Yvonne's hand, declaring that she would
definitely bring her family and
friends to the next exhibit to support
her
