Chapter 1165
Outside the hospital's emergency room, Yvonne's sister-in-law, Winona Johnson, stormed in with her people. The moment she saw Yvonne, she walked over and slapped her hard across the face. Nina immediately pulled Yvonne behind her, glaring at Winona with anger in her eyes.
"Do you know why I hit you?" Winona's voice was icy cold.
Yvonne nodded slightly. She could guess that it was because of Joe. If it weren't for her, Joe wouldn't be in the emergency room.
"Since you know, why are you still letting your friend protect you?" Winona's tone became even colder.
Yvonne stepped forward, her voice trembling as she apologized, "I'm sorry."
"Sorry?" Winona let out a bitter laugh. "Do you think sorry is enough? If it weren't for you, he wouldn't be like this. Yvonne, you're the root of all evil."
Unable to stand it any longer, Nina pulled Yvonne behind her again and confronted Winona directly. "Mrs. Turner, I think you need to understand something first. It was Mr. Turner who-"
"Nina, don't say anymore," Yvonne interrupted, stopping her from continuing. Joe's accident was partly her responsibility. She knew he wouldn't let her leave, yet she still tried. Winona wasn't wrong that she was the cause. Yvonne apologized again, her scarred neck in full view. Winona frowned at the sight.
Turning to her people, Winona gave an order. "Spread the word. Without my permission, Miss Yvonne is not allowed anywhere near Mr. Turner."
Then she looked back at Yvonne. "I trust you have no objections, or do you want to stay and take care of him?"
"No objections," Yvonne replied softly. "In fact, once he wakes up, I'll leave. You won't see me again."
Yvonne didn't want Winona to misunderstand, so she made her stance clear. But to her surprise, Winona laughed loudly.
"Oh, Yvonne. No wonder Joe is so obsessed with you. You're quite the manipulator. Why don't you teach us some of your tricks?"
Yvonne, knowing she was in no position to argue, remained silent. Winona raised her hand to strike Yvonne again, but Nina quickly blocked her.
Winona, now furious, glared coldly at Nina. "Mrs. York, if you get in my way again, don't blame me for what happens next."
"I'm standing by Yvonne today. I don't care what happened to Joe, but I won't let anyone harm her," Nina declared, standing protectively in front of Yvonne. Winona, enraged, spat out a few curses just as the emergency room doors swung open. A nurse rushed out and ran downstairs, adding to the tension. Everyone's faces grew more serious, and Yvonne's guilt deepened, tears streaming down her face.
Winona, with the help of her
attendants, sat down in a chair, staring blankly ahead. Worried that she might harm Yvonne again, Nina pulled Yvonne to the far side of the waiting area. She made sure to sit on Yvonne's left, blocking her view of Winona's hateful gaze
Time passed, and after what seemed like an eternity, a nurse ran out of the emergency room for the third time and quickly ran back in.
Winona finally spoke in a low voice.
"Do you really think your success over the years was due to your talent? It was all arranged by Joe-the art exhibitions, the

"Show her," Winona ordered one of the men beside her.
The man handed Yvonne a thick file. Inside was a detailed record of all the ways Joe had helped her over the years arranging her art exhibitions, providing connections, even down to buying her clothes. Every single detail was laid out, as if her entire life had been orchestrated by him.
With a trembling hand, Yvonne dropped the file.
She collapsed to the floor, clutching her head, whispering to herself, "It's not true. It's not like that. It's not..."
