Captivation: Want Nothing But You

Chapter 1529

It was cold outside, and what Wallace had told her made her feel cold all over.

She withdrew her hand gently and explained, “I went to the restroom before coming here.

I washed my hands in cold water.”

Roger immediately poured her a glass of warm drink and asked her to wrap her palms around it.

Rachel looked at the drink, and she suddenly remembered some stuff from six years ago.

When Wallace pursued Shelia, he was also considerate.

At that time, she thought it was nice to have such a sweet person by her side.

Shelia had never been in love and had been kind of ignorant about it.

Even now, Rachel had no much experience with love.

However, she did know it would make her a moody person.

“Rachel, what’s wrong?” Roger asked with concern.

He noticed that she was in a daze.

Rachel shook her head and placed the glass on the table.

“Nothing.

Didn’t you want to have dinner together? Why did you change your mind?”

“Because the dress I ordered for you got delivered today,” Roger said as he looked at her.

“Dress? What dress?”

“You forgot? The dress you’re going to wear for the engagement party.”

Rachel hadn’t forgotten about the dress.

There was just a lot on her mind lately.

Since she knew Wallace had escaped from international prison and currently staying in Apliaria, it had slipped her mind that she would be engaged to Roger.

Rachel wasn’t good at lying, especially to Roger.

As much as possible, she didn’t want to lie to him.

“I… I’m sorry,” Rachel muttered after a brief silence.

“What for?” Roger asked, smiling gently.

The softness in his eyes made Rachel feel even guiltier.

“There’s just a lot going on lately that disrupted my plans.

I know this might sound like an excuse, but… I’m really sorry.

I didn’t mean to forget about the dress.

I just-“

Before Rachel could finish her words, Roger pressed his index finger against her lips to stop her from saying more.

Seeing that she obliged, Roger withdrew his finger and held her hand.

“I’m glad that you’re telling me this, Rachel.

As I’ve said, I could handle everything about the engagement.

It’s okay if it slipped your mind.

I’ll take care of everything.

As long as you take one step forward, Rachel, I will finish the remaining ninety-nine steps for you until we reach a hundred to the finish line.”

He had waited many years for Rachel to finally take his hand.

There was no way he would let go of her because of such a small thing.

Rachel pursed her lips and kept silent.

Letting go of her hand, Roger smiled gently.
