Chapter Awake At Dawn: eight years ago 10
Without thinking, I took a step closer to Noah.
Maybe I was imagining it, but there was a warmth in his eyes that drew me in.
No, not just warmth.
Heat.
“Yeah, I skate at a college closer to home.”
Noah nodded and followed my lead, inching forward, too.
Around us, music started playing. People were laughing. I heard Juniper’s voice as she snarked at Julian when he returned with the wine. I heard Julian say something mildly flirty back, the tone of which I was sure went straight over Juniper’s head.
For once in my life, I didn’t care.
“And…where’s home again?” he asked, his voice lower now. Soothing and…seductive?
No, that couldn’t be.
“About two hours outside of Boston,” I said breathily.
His lips had a soft curve to them.
“My sister lives in Boston.”
“Maybe you should come visit her sometime.”
He lifted a brow, and his grin grew.
“Maybe I should.”
